Otac bivšeg britanskog atletičara Dereka Redmonda, Jim, koji je u jednom od najemotivnijih događaja na Olimpijskim igrama u Barceloni 1992. godine, pomogao svom ozlijeđenom sinu da završi polufinalnu utrku na 400 metara, preminuo je u 81. godini.

Derek Redmond je u Barcelonu stigao u odličnoj formi, međutim nakon 250 metara polufinalne utrke se ozlijedio potrgavši mišić zadnje lože.

Međutim, umjesto da potraži liječničku pomoć, pokušao je odšepati do cilja. Nakon nekoliko desetaka metara na stazu je utrčao njegov otac Jim, odgurnuo zaštitara i pomogao sinu da usprkos ozljedi sa suzama prođe kroz cilj.

Međunarodni olimpijski odbor (MOO) je izrazio sućut obitelji Jima Redmonda, napisavši kako su otac i sin zajedno pružili jedan od najinspirativnijih trenutaka u olimpijskoj povijesti. Video ovog trenutka i očeve pomoći postao je jedan od najgledanijih videa vezanih uz OI.

Dva desetljeća nakon što je pomogao Dereku da prođe kroz ciljnu ravninu, Jim je bio jedan od nositelja baklje na Olimpijskim igrama u Londonu 2012.

"Što god se dogodilo, morao je završiti, a ja sam mu želio pomoći. Zajedno smo započeli njegovu karijeru i zajedno smo je namjeravali završiti," kazao je tada.

Otac bivšeg britanskog atletičara Dereka Redmonda, Jim, koji je u jednom od najemotivnijih događaja na Olimpijskim igrama u Barceloni 1992. godine, pomogao svom ozlijeđenom sinu da završi polufinalnu utrku na 400 metara, preminuo je u 81. godini.

Derek Redmond je u Barcelonu stigao u odličnoj formi, međutim nakon 250 metara polufinalne utrke se ozlijedio potrgavši mišić zadnje lože.

Međutim, umjesto da potraži liječničku pomoć, pokušao je odšepati do cilja. Nakon nekoliko desetaka metara na stazu je utrčao njegov otac Jim, odgurnuo zaštitara i pomogao sinu da usprkos ozljedi sa suzama prođe kroz cilj.

Međunarodni olimpijski odbor (MOO) je izrazio sućut obitelji Jima Redmonda, napisavši kako su otac i sin zajedno pružili jedan od najinspirativnijih trenutaka u olimpijskoj povijesti. Video ovog trenutka i očeve pomoći postao je jedan od najgledanijih videa vezanih uz OI.

Dva desetljeća nakon što je pomogao Dereku da prođe kroz ciljnu ravninu, Jim je bio jedan od nositelja baklje na Olimpijskim igrama u Londonu 2012.

"Što god se dogodilo, morao je završiti, a ja sam mu želio pomoći. Zajedno smo započeli njegovu karijeru i zajedno smo je namjeravali završiti," kazao je tada.

Otac bivšeg britanskog atletičara Dereka Redmonda, Jim, koji je u jednom od najemotivnijih događaja na Olimpijskim igrama u Barceloni 1992. godine, pomogao svom ozlijeđenom sinu da završi polufinalnu utrku na 400 metara, preminuo je u 81. godini.

Derek Redmond je u Barcelonu stigao u odličnoj formi, međutim nakon 250 metara polufinalne utrke se ozlijedio potrgavši mišić zadnje lože.

Međutim, umjesto da potraži liječničku pomoć, pokušao je odšepati do cilja. Nakon nekoliko desetaka metara na stazu je utrčao njegov otac Jim, odgurnuo zaštitara i pomogao sinu da usprkos ozljedi sa suzama prođe kroz cilj.

Međunarodni olimpijski odbor (MOO) je izrazio sućut obitelji Jima Redmonda, napisavši kako su otac i sin zajedno pružili jedan od najinspirativnijih trenutaka u olimpi...
