Farmaceutska tvrtka BioNTech sa sjedištem u njemačkom Mainzu i njezin američki partner Pfizer tvrde da su počeli proizvoditi cjepivo za omikron za komercijalnu upotrebu.

Cjepivo je prilagođeno novoj varijanti koronavirusa, to je na jednoj zdravstvenoj konferenciji američke banke J. P. Morgan potvrdio šef BioNTecha Uğur Şahin, prenosi Deutsche Welle.

Koncem siječnja će započeti klinička studija u okviru koje će se ispitati učinkovitost cjepiva, dodao je Şahin: “Polazimo od toga da bismo do ožujka mogli biti spremni za isporuku cjepiva na tržište, pod uvjetom da do tada budemo imali i potrebne dozvole vlasti.”

Europska agencija za lijekove (EMA) još uvijek nije priopćila smatra li doista potrebnim cjepivo prilagođeno omikronu, i to s drugačijim sastavom od onog kojeg ima cjepivo koje se trenutno koristi protiv koronavirusa.

Šef koncerna Pfizer Albert Bourla za američku TV postaju CNBC je izjavio kako je njegova kompanija s proizvodnjom počela na vlastiti rizik. On ne zna, dodao je Bourla, hoće li cjepivo biti potrebno i kako će se koristiti: “Ali mi ćemo biti spremni!”

Cjepiva raznih proizvođača koja se trenutno koriste protiv koronavirusa, izvorno su razvijena protiv takozvanog “divljeg tipa virusa” Sars-CoV-2, koji je koncem 2019. najprije otkriven u Kini. Cjepiva se u borbi protiv te varijante, ali i kasnijih verzija virusa alfa ili delta masovnije počelo koristiti koncem 2020., odnosno početkom 2021. Kod tih mutacija ono je bilo djelotvorno, no kod omikrona bi stvari mogle biti drugačije.

Şahin je tijekom online nastupa na spomenutoj konferenciji rekao da je aktualna situacija oko pandemije i dalje nejasna, odnosno da se ne može predvidjeti koja će se virusna varijante pojaviti kao sljedeća: “No, vrlo je izgledno da će cjepivo protiv omikrona pojačati imunološku reakciju protiv svih postojećih varijanti.”

BioNTech je prije toga već priopćio da je ta kompanija s britanskom firmom InstaDeep razvila jednu novu metodu za predviđanje pojave i širenja novih visokorizičnih varijanti SARS-CoV-2. Radi se o svojevrsnom sustavu za rano upozoravanje koji se temelji na podacima koje se obrađuje uz pomoć umjetne inteligencije.

Taj sustav je, kako se tvrdi, visokozaraznu omikron varijantu označio kao “visokorizičnu” već isti dan kada je ona bila sekvencirana.

Nova metoda kombinira strukturu šiljastih proteina s algoritmima umjetne inteligencije, kako bi potencijalno opasne varijante koronavirusa mogla raspoznati u razdoblju kraćem od jednog dana, pojasnio je BioNTech. Sustav za to koristi informacije iz baze podataka za sekvenciranje koronavirusa, na primjer informacije o sposobnosti viralnog širenja ili njegove karakteristike po pitanju “zaobilaženja” imunološkog sustava.

Po procjenama BioNTecha još uvijek je dug put od pandemijskog do endemijskog (odnosno manje opasnog) razvoja po pitanju koronavirusa. Pouzdane procjene nisu moguće, tvrdi šef kompanije iz Mainza. Zbog širenja po cijelom svijetu, koronavirus raspolaže ogromnim rezervoarom za pojavu novih varijanti koje se brzo mogu proširiti, dodao je Şahin piše Deutsche Welle.

Farmaceutska tvrtka BioNTech sa sjedištem u njemačkom Mainzu i njezin američki partner Pfizer tvrde da su počeli proizvoditi cjepivo za omikron za komercijalnu upotrebu.

Cjepivo je prilagođeno novoj varijanti koronavirusa, to je na jednoj zdravstvenoj konferenciji američke banke J. P. Morgan potvrdio šef BioNTecha Uğur Şahin, prenosi Deutsche Welle.

Koncem siječnja će započeti klinička studija u okviru koje će se ispitati učinkovitost cjepiva, dodao je Şahin: “Polazimo od toga da bismo do ožujka mogli biti spremni za isporuku cjepiva na tržište, pod uvjetom da do tada budemo imali i potrebne dozvole vlasti.”

Europska agencija za lijekove (EMA) još uvijek nije priopćila smatra li doista potrebnim cjepivo prilagođeno omikronu, i to s drugačijim sastavom od onog kojeg ima cjepivo koje se trenutno koristi protiv koronavirusa.

Šef koncerna Pfizer Albert Bourla za američku TV postaju CNBC je izjavio kako je njegova kompanija s proizvodnjom počela na vlastiti rizik. On ne zna, dodao je Bourla, hoće li cjepivo biti potrebno i kako će se koristiti: “Ali mi ćemo biti spremni!”

Cjepiva raznih proizvođača koja se trenutno koriste protiv koronavirusa, izvorno su razvijena protiv takozvanog “divljeg tipa virusa” Sars-CoV-2, koji je koncem 2019. najprije otkriven u Kini. Cjepiva se u borbi protiv te varijante, ali i kasnijih verzija virusa alfa ili delta masovnije počelo koristiti koncem 2020., odnosno početkom 2021. Kod tih mutacija ono je bilo djelotvorno, no kod omikrona bi stvari mogle biti drugačije.

Şahin je tijekom online nastupa na spomenutoj konferenciji rekao da je aktualna situacija oko pandemije i dalje nejasna, odnosno da se ne može predvidjeti koja će se virusna varijante pojaviti kao sljedeća: “No, vrlo je izgledno da će cjepivo protiv omikrona pojačati imunološku reakciju protiv svih postojećih varijanti.”

BioNTech je prije toga već priopćio da je ta kompanija s britanskom firmom InstaDeep razvila jednu novu metodu za predviđanje pojave i širenja novih visokorizičnih varijanti SARS-CoV-2. Radi se o svojevrsnom sustavu za rano upozoravanje koji se temelji na podacima koje se obrađuje uz pomoć umjetne inteligencije.

Taj sustav je, kako se tvrdi, visokozaraznu omikron varijantu označio kao “visokorizičnu” već isti dan kada je ona bila sekvencirana.

Nova metoda kombinira strukturu šiljastih proteina s algoritmima umjetne inteligencije, kako bi potencijalno opasne varijante koronavirusa mogla raspoznati u razdoblju kraćem od jednog dana, pojasnio je BioNTech. Sustav za to koristi informacije iz baze podataka za sekvenciranje koronavirusa, na primjer informacije o sposobnosti viralnog širenja ili njegove karakteristike po pitanju “zaobilaženja” imunološkog sustava.

Po procjenama BioNTecha još uvijek je dug put od pandemijskog do endemijskog (odnosno manje opasnog) razvoja po pitanju koronavirusa. Pouzdane procjene nisu moguće, tvrdi šef kompanije iz Mainza. Zbog širenja po cijelom svijetu, koronavirus raspolaže ogromnim rezervoarom za pojavu novih varijanti koje se brzo mogu proširiti, dodao je Şahin piše Deutsche Welle.

Farmaceutska tvrtka BioNTech sa sjedištem u njemačkom Mainzu i njezin američki partner Pfizer tvrde da su počeli proizvoditi cjepivo za omikron za komercijalnu upotrebu.

Cjepivo je prilagođeno novoj varijanti koronavirusa, to je na jednoj zdravstvenoj konferenciji američke banke J. P. Morgan potvrdio šef BioNTecha Uğur Şahin, prenosi Deutsche Welle.

Koncem siječnja će započeti klinička studija u okviru koje će se ispitati učinkovitost cjepiva, dodao je Şahin: “Polazimo od toga da bismo do ožujka mogli biti spremni za isporuku cjepiva na tržište, pod uvjetom da do tada budemo imali i potrebne dozvole vlasti.”

Europska agencija za lijekove (EMA) još uvijek nije priopćila smatra li doista potrebnim cjepivo prilagođeno omikronu, i to s drugačijim sastavom od onog kojeg...
