Liječnici u nekim dijelovima SAD-a, pogotovo onim ruralnim, muku muče s pacijentima koji su, slušajući nepouzdane alternativne izvore, kao lijek za koronavirus uzimali ivermektin (ivermectin) u prekomjernim dozama.
Kako navodi Guardian liječnik iz Oklahome potvrdio je da su bolnice u tom području zatrpane pacijentima koji su se predozirali ovim lijekom protiv parazita. Broj recepata izdanih za taj lijek skočio je na više od 88.000 tjedno, tako da neke ljekarne čak prijavljuju nestašicu. Cijeli kaos s ivermectinom u SAD-u izazvao je voditelj podcasta Joe Rogan koji je javno obznanio kako on uzima taj lijek nakon što je dobio pozitivan nalaz na koronavirus.
Ivermectin većinom propisuju veterinari, a u malim dozama može se koristiti za liječenje ljudi. Riječ je o lijeku koji na izvjestan način preuzeo ulogu hidroksiklorokina kao metafora „čarobnog lijeka“, što naravno nije. Iako se na samim počecima pandemije spekuliralo kako bi lijek mogao biti od koristi, kliničke studije su potvrdile da ivermectin nije učinkovit u liječenju COVID-19.

Ovaj antiparazitik najčešće se koristi u veterinarskoj praksi, i to u velikim koncentracijama jer su u pitanju najčešće velike životinje poput krava i konja.
"Niste konj i niste krava", poručili su iz Američke agencija za lijekove (FDA) i upozorili građane da je uzimanje veterinarskog ivermectina iznimno opasno i može uzrokovati ozbiljne posljedice. Ivermectin se ne smije davati ni drugim životinjama za koje nije naznačeno jer može izazvati ozbiljne poremećaje i smrt. Primjerice u dozi od 40 miligrama po kilogramu tjelesne težine, lijek kod pasa izaziva komu. I sam proizvođač lijeka Merck uputio je priopćenje kako se radi o proizvodu za koji ne postoje znanstveni dokazi da je učinkovit u terapiji COVID-19.
Zbog predoziranja ovim lijekom u SAD-u se stvara dodatni pritisak na bolnički sustav i Hitnu pomoć, koji su već pod velikim pritiskom zbog rasta broja slučajeva zaraze koronavirusom.
"Ambulante hitne pomoći su toliko prepune da je žrtvama pucnjava bilo teško doći do ustanova u kojima mogu dobiti liječničku pomoć", rekao je dr. Jason McElyea liječnik u Sallisawu, za lokalnu TV stanicu u Oklahomi, prenosi Guardian.

McElyea je izjavio kako su zbog navale na Hitnu, bili prisiljen poslati teško bolesne pacijente od covida na liječenje u udaljenu bolnicu u Južnoj Dakoti. Liječnik je ispričao da su pacijenti koji su uzeli taj lijek dolazili u bolnicu s bolovima u mišićima, gubitkom vida i problemima s probavom.
"Neki ljudi koji su uzeli neprimjerene količine Ivermectina doveli su se u stanje većeg rizika nego da su se borili s covidom", rekao je.
Lijek se, inače dozirano koristi u ljudskoj upotrebu najčešće u siromašnim afričkim zemljama za tropske parazitske bolesti, koje su tamo iznimno učestale. "S razlogom morate imati propisani recept za ovaj lijek. Može biti veoma opasan", ponavljaju liječnici.
Ivermectin je u obliku tableta odobren u Europskoj uniji za liječenje rijetkih parazitskih zaraza crvima, dok su pripravci ivermectina za kožu odobreni za liječenje kožnih bolesti poput rozaceje. Riječ je o vrlo, vrlo malim dozama koje su odobrene za primjenu na ljudima, ali ne i u slučaju liječenja Covida. U Srbiji te u BiH lijek nije dopušten za ljudsku upotrebu, čak ni lokalno.

Liječnici u nekim dijelovima SAD-a, pogotovo onim ruralnim, muku muče s pacijentima koji su, slušajući nepouzdane alternativne izvore, kao lijek za koronavirus uzimali ivermektin (ivermectin) u prekomjernim dozama.
Kako navodi Guardian liječnik iz Oklahome potvrdio je da su bolnice u tom području zatrpane pacijentima koji su se predozirali ovim lijekom protiv parazita. Broj recepata izdanih za taj lijek skočio je na više od 88.000 tjedno, tako da neke ljekarne čak prijavljuju nestašicu. Cijeli kaos s ivermectinom u SAD-u izazvao je voditelj podcasta Joe Rogan koji je javno obznanio kako on uzima taj lijek nakon što je dobio pozitivan nalaz na koronavirus.
Ivermectin većinom propisuju veterinari, a u malim dozama može se koristiti za liječenje ljudi. Riječ je o lijeku koji na izvjestan način preuzeo ulogu hidroksiklorokina kao metafora „čarobnog lijeka“, što naravno nije. Iako se na samim počecima pandemije spekuliralo kako bi lijek mogao biti od koristi, kliničke studije su potvrdile da ivermectin nije učinkovit u liječenju COVID-19.

Ovaj antiparazitik najčešće se koristi u veterinarskoj praksi, i to u velikim koncentracijama jer su u pitanju najčešće velike životinje poput krava i konja.
"Niste konj i niste krava", poručili su iz Američke agencija za lijekove (FDA) i upozorili građane da je uzimanje veterinarskog ivermectina iznimno opasno i može uzrokovati ozbiljne posljedice. Ivermectin se ne smije davati ni drugim životinjama za koje nije naznačeno jer može izazvati ozbiljne poremećaje i smrt. Primjerice u dozi od 40 miligrama po kilogramu tjelesne težine, lijek kod pasa izaziva komu. I sam proizvođač lijeka Merck uputio je priopćenje kako se radi o proizvodu za koji ne postoje znanstveni dokazi da je učinkovit u terapiji COVID-19.
Zbog predoziranja ovim lijekom u SAD-u se stvara dodatni pritisak na bolnički sustav i Hitnu pomoć, koji su već pod velikim pritiskom zbog rasta broja slučajeva zaraze koronavirusom.
"Ambulante hitne pomoći su toliko prepune da je žrtvama pucnjava bilo teško doći do ustanova u kojima mogu dobiti liječničku pomoć", rekao je dr. Jason McElyea liječnik u Sallisawu, za lokalnu TV stanicu u Oklahomi, prenosi Guardian.

McElyea je izjavio kako su zbog navale na Hitnu, bili prisiljen poslati teško bolesne pacijente od covida na liječenje u udaljenu bolnicu u Južnoj Dakoti. Liječnik je ispričao da su pacijenti koji su uzeli taj lijek dolazili u bolnicu s bolovima u mišićima, gubitkom vida i problemima s probavom.
"Neki ljudi koji su uzeli neprimjerene količine Ivermectina doveli su se u stanje većeg rizika nego da su se borili s covidom", rekao je.
Lijek se, inače dozirano koristi u ljudskoj upotrebu najčešće u siromašnim afričkim zemljama za tropske parazitske bolesti, koje su tamo iznimno učestale. "S razlogom morate imati propisani recept za ovaj lijek. Može biti veoma opasan", ponavljaju liječnici.
Ivermectin je u obliku tableta odobren u Europskoj uniji za liječenje rijetkih parazitskih zaraza crvima, dok su pripravci ivermectina za kožu odobreni za liječenje kožnih bolesti poput rozaceje. Riječ je o vrlo, vrlo malim dozama koje su odobrene za primjenu na ljudima, ali ne i u slučaju liječenja Covida. U Srbiji te u BiH lijek nije dopušten za ljudsku upotrebu, čak ni lokalno.
