Trenutačno šesti tenisač svijeta, Austrijanac Dominic Thiem (27) otkazao je nastup na posljednjem ovogodišnjem "grand slam" turniru US Openu koji počinje u New Yorku 30. kolovoza, a na kojemu je trebao braniti naslov pobjednika.
Osim što je otkazao nastup u New Yorku, Thiem je objavio kako zbog ozljede zapešća više neće nastupati u 2021. godini.
Thiem je ozljedu zapešća zadobio još 22. lipnja tijekom nastupa na ATP turniru na Mallorci koji mu je trebao poslužiti kao priprema za Wimbledon.
