Znanstvenici su prvom ljudskom pacijentu ubrizgali novi virus koji ubija rak. Virus, poznat kao Vaxinia, uspješno je testiran na životinjama. Međutim, pravi test njegove učinkovitosti počinje novim kliničkim ispitivanjem, prenosi Yahoo News.

Lako je čuti riječ virus i odmah pomisliti na nešto loše, osobito nakon dvije godine pandemije. Uostalom, postoji mnogo smrtonosnih virusa. Međutim, znanstvenici testiraju novi virus koji ubija rak poznat kao Vaxinia u eksperimentalnom liječenju raka.

Ovdje se nadamo da će virus pojačati imunološki odgovor tijela na rak. Sam virus je dizajniran posebno za ubijanje stanica raka. U pokusima na životinjama, znanstvenici su vidjeli vrlo obećavajuće rezultate. Ove vrste virusa već više od stoljeća predstavljaju oružje u borbi protiv raka.

Međutim, uspjeh ovih virusa bio je u najmanju ruku vrlo ograničen. No, ovoga puta znanstvenici su konstruirali virus koji ne samo da šteti stanicama raka, već ih čini prepoznatljivijima imunološkom sustavu tijela. Istraživači se nadaju da će to pomoći da se reakcija tijela ojača, omogućujući mu da se bolje bori.

Prethodna klinička ispitivanja lijekova protiv raka također su pokazala obećavajuće rezultate. Vaxinia bi mogla otvoriti nova vrata.

Naravno, prije nego što su prešli na ispitivanja na ljudima, znanstvenici su testirali virus na životinjama. U mnogim su slučajevima vidjeli veliki uspjeh u smanjenju tumora. Virus koji ubija rak pokazao je da može smanjiti veličinu tumora raka pluća, dojke, jajnika, gušterače i debelog crijeva.

S tim uspjehom znanstvenici su odlučili prijeći na testiranje na ljudima. Rezultati uočeni na životinjama ne prenose se uvijek izravno na ljude. Postoji mnogo razloga za to, ali istraživači se ipak nadaju kako bi ovaj virus mogao poboljšati šanse pacijenata da se bore protiv raka.

Trenutačno će Vaxinia biti testirana u fazi 1 ispitivanja na samo sto pacijenata s rakom. Ovi pacijenti imaju metastatske ili uznapredovale solidne tumore, a svaki je od njih prethodno isprobao najmanje dva druga tretmana. Istraživači ih planiraju podijeliti u dvije skupine - prva će dobiti Vaxiniu, a druga dobiti virus koji ubija rak u kombinaciji s lijekom za imunoterapiju.

Naravno, ispitivanja prve faze uglavnom se odnose na sigurnost i pronalaženje optimalne doze. Kao takva, možda neće dokazati punu učinkovitost virusa. Međutim, to je važan korak u mogućem pronalaženju alternativne metode za borbu protiv raka. Trenutno se očekuje da će ispitivanje biti dovršeno početkom 2025. godine. Dakle, proći će neko vrijeme prije nego što vidimo bilo kakve konačne rezultate, navodi Yahoo News.

Znanstvenici su prvom ljudskom pacijentu ubrizgali novi virus koji ubija rak. Virus, poznat kao Vaxinia, uspješno je testiran na životinjama. Međutim, pravi test njegove učinkovitosti počinje novim kliničkim ispitivanjem, prenosi Yahoo News.

Lako je čuti riječ virus i odmah pomisliti na nešto loše, osobito nakon dvije godine pandemije. Uostalom, postoji mnogo smrtonosnih virusa. Međutim, znanstvenici testiraju novi virus koji ubija rak poznat kao Vaxinia u eksperimentalnom liječenju raka.

Ovdje se nadamo da će virus pojačati imunološki odgovor tijela na rak. Sam virus je dizajniran posebno za ubijanje stanica raka. U pokusima na životinjama, znanstvenici su vidjeli vrlo obećavajuće rezultate. Ove vrste virusa već više od stoljeća predstavljaju oružje u borbi protiv raka.

Međutim, uspjeh ovih virusa bio je u najmanju ruku vrlo ograničen. No, ovoga puta znanstvenici su konstruirali virus koji ne samo da šteti stanicama raka, već ih čini prepoznatljivijima imunološkom sustavu tijela. Istraživači se nadaju da će to pomoći da se reakcija tijela ojača, omogućujući mu da se bolje bori.

Prethodna klinička ispitivanja lijekova protiv raka također su pokazala obećavajuće rezultate. Vaxinia bi mogla otvoriti nova vrata.

Naravno, prije nego što su prešli na ispitivanja na ljudima, znanstvenici su testirali virus na životinjama. U mnogim su slučajevima vidjeli veliki uspjeh u smanjenju tumora. Virus koji ubija rak pokazao je da može smanjiti veličinu tumora raka pluća, dojke, jajnika, gušterače i debelog crijeva.

S tim uspjehom znanstvenici su odlučili prijeći na testiranje na ljudima. Rezultati uočeni na životinjama ne prenose se uvijek izravno na ljude. Postoji mnogo razloga za to, ali istraživači se ipak nadaju kako bi ovaj virus mogao poboljšati šanse pacijenata da se bore protiv raka.

Trenutačno će Vaxinia biti testirana u fazi 1 ispitivanja na samo sto pacijenata s rakom. Ovi pacijenti imaju metastatske ili uznapredovale solidne tumore, a svaki je od njih prethodno isprobao najmanje dva druga tretmana. Istraživači ih planiraju podijeliti u dvije skupine - prva će dobiti Vaxiniu, a druga dobiti virus koji ubija rak u kombinaciji s lijekom za imunoterapiju.

Naravno, ispitivanja prve faze uglavnom se odnose na sigurnost i pronalaženje optimalne doze. Kao takva, možda neće dokazati punu učinkovitost virusa. Znanstvenici su prvom ljudskom pacijentu ubrizgali novi virus koji ubija rak. Virus, poznat kao Vaxinia, uspješno je testiran na životinjama. Međutim, pravi test njegove učinkovitosti počinje novim kliničkim ispitivanjem, prenosi Yahoo News.

Lako je čuti riječ virus i odmah pomisliti na nešto loše, osobito nakon dvije godine pandemije. Uostalom, postoji mnogo smrtonosnih virusa. Međutim, znanstvenici testiraju novi virus koji ubija rak poznat kao Vaxinia u eksperimentalnom liječenju raka.

Ovdje se nadamo da će virus pojačati imunološki odgovor tijela na rak. Sam virus je dizajniran posebno za ubijanje stanica raka. U pokusima na životinjama, znanstvenici su vidjeli vrlo obećavajuće rezultate. Ove vrste virusa već više od stoljeća predstavljaju oružje u borbi protiv raka....
