Šezdeset i sedam pacijenata iz cijele Europe oboljelo je od botulizma nakon što su primili injekcije botoksa u dvije odvojene klinike. Zdravstveni dužnosnici izdali su hitno upozorenje za sniženi postupak mršavljenja botoksom koji se može obaviti u Turskoj, prenosi Daily Mail.

Stanje, koje može biti opasno po život, uzrokovano je toksinima koje proizvode bakterije. Ako se hitno ne liječi, botulizam može dovesti do paralize. Svi oboljeli pacijenti dobili su botoks za želudac koji paralizira mišiće probavnog sustava i tako im usporava probavu. Turske klinike svoje usluge nude za samo 970 eura pacijentima koji žele smršaviti, dok su u Europi i SAD-u te usluge znatno skuplje, piše Jutarnji list.

Svi slučajevi zabilježeni su između 22. veljače i 1. ožujka 2023. godine. Botoks i botulizam potječu od toksina koje proizvodi Clostridium botulinum, a mogu postati vrlo opasni. Kad se toksinima služe obučeni medicinski stručnjaci, uobičajeno je postupak siguran, no ako se nepravilno primjenjuju mogu uzrokovati slabost, poteškoće u disanju ili gutanju.

Krajnja faza bolesti je paraliza nakon koje nastupa smrt, ako se ne liječi. Dok je većina poznatih slučajeva bila blaga, nekoliko je pacijenata primljeno u bolnicu. Europska zdravstvena organizacija savjetuje svim pacijentima koji su unutar ranije navedenih datuma napravili postupak mršavljenja botoksom da se odmah jave liječniku, osobito ako počnu osjećati simptome botulizma.

Najviše slučajeva zabilježeno je u samoj Turskoj (53), zatim u Njemačkoj (12) i po jedan slučaj u Austriji i Švicarskoj. Iz Europskog centra za prevenciju i kontrolu bolesti poručili su da nije jasno što je točno uzrokovalo botulizam. Turske vlasti otkrile su većinu slučajeva u dvije klinike, 60 slučajeva povezno je s privatnom bolnicom u glavnom gradu Istanbulu, a tri s privatnom bolnicom u Izmiru.

Otkriveno je da se u klinici koristi licencirani botoks, ali nije posebno odobren za liječenje pretilosti. Od tada su obustavljene sve aktivnosti unutar tih bolničkih odjela te je pokrenuta istraga, piše Jutarnji list.

Tijekom postupka, endoskop se umetne u pacijentova usta da dosegne njegov želudac. Botoks se ubrizgava u stijenku želuca, a cijeli proces traje 15 do 20 minuta i ne zahtijeva opću anesteziju. Paraliza trbušnih mišića usporava probavu zbog čega se osoba osjeća sitom i, u teoriji, pomače izgubiti kilažu. Kao i drugi zahvati botoksom, rezultati nisu trajni pa se trbušni mišići vraćaju u normalu unutar četiri do šest mjeseci.

Šezdeset i sedam pacijenata iz cijele Europe oboljelo je od botulizma nakon što su primili injekcije botoksa u dvije odvojene klinike. Zdravstveni dužnosnici izdali su hitno upozorenje za sniženi postupak mršavljenja botoksom koji se može obaviti u Turskoj, prenosi Daily Mail.

Svi slučajevi zabilježeni su između 22. veljače i 1. ožujka 2023. godine. Botoks i botulizam potječu od toksina koje proizvodi Clostridium botulinum, a mogu postati vrlo opasni. Kad se toksinima služe obučeni medicinski stručnjaci, uobičajeno je postupak siguran, no ako se nepravilno primjenjuju mogu uzrokovati slabost, poteškoće u disanju ili gutanju.

Krajnja faza bolesti je paraliza nakon koje nastupa smrt, ako se ne liječi. Dok je većina poznatih slučajeva bila blaga, nekoliko je pacijenata primljeno u bolnicu. Europska zdravstvena organizacija savjetuje svim pacijentima koji su unutar ranije navedenih datuma napravili postupak mršavljenja botoksom da se odmah jave liječniku, osobito ako počnu osjećati simptome botulizma.

Najviše slučajeva zabilježeno je u samoj Turskoj (53), zatim u Njemačkoj (12) i po jedan slučaj u Austriji i Švicarskoj. Iz Europskog centra za prevenciju i kontrolu bolesti poručili su da nije jasno što je točno uzrokovalo botulizam. Turske vlasti otkrile su većinu slučajeva u dvije klinike, 60 slučajeva povezno je s privatnom bolnicom u glavnom gradu Istanbulu, a tri s privatnom bolnicom u Izmiru.

Otkriveno je da se u klinici koristi licencirani botoks, ali nije posebno odobren za liječenje pretilosti. Od tada su obustavljene sve aktivnosti unutar tih bolničkih odjela te je pokrenuta istraga, piše Jutarnji list.

Tijekom postupka, endoskop se umetne u pacijentova usta da dosegne njegov želudac. Botoks se ubrizgava u stijenku želuca, a cijeli proces traje 15 do 20 minuta i ne zahtijeva opću anesteziju. Paraliza trbušnih mišića usporava probavu zbog čega se osoba osjeća sitom i, u teoriji, pomače izgubiti kilažu. Kao i drugi zahvati botoksom, rezultati nisu trajni pa se trbušni mišići vraćaju u normalu unutar četiri do šest mjeseci.
