Jugoslovenski heroj Stjepan Filipović zapamćen je kako na vlastitom stratištu stoji s uzdignutim rukama, stisnutih šaka, s omčom oko vrata. U tom je povijesnom trenutku pozvao na otpor fašizmu i postao jedan od simbola Drugog svjetskog rata, prisjeća se National Geographic.

Priča o Filipoviću bila bi nevjerojatna čak i da nema te čuvene fotografije.

Stjepan Filipović rođen je 27. siječnja 1916. godine u Opuzenu na obali Neretve, a u matične knjige upisan je kao Stipan. Njegova obitelj odselila je u Mostar, gdje su ga svi zvali Stjepan, a potom su nastavili dalje, sve do Kragujevca gdje je mladić dobio ime Stevan. Zato danas njegova ulica u Beogradu nosi dva imena - Stjepan Stevan Filipović.

Okupacija Kraljevine Jugoslavije zatekla je Filipovića u Kragujevcu, gdje je živio ilegalno, skrivajući se od okupatora i od policije. Krajem lipnja 1941. odlazi u Valjevo i pomaže formiranju Valjevskog patrizanskog odreda. Nijemci su ga međutim uhitili i odveli u zatvor u Šabac, a kasnije ga prebacili u Beograd ne bi li ga tamo Gestapo ispitao. Filipović međutim nije odao svoje suborce pa je 1942. vraćen u Valjevo, gdje je osuđen na smrt vješanjem. Tu, navodi jedan od izvora o ovom junaku, sestra predaje "bež hlače na pruge, smeđi sako i kapu "titovku". Ova odjeća postala je, zajedno sa Stevanom, simbol otpora".

Vješanje "vođe buntovnika", kako su ga nazvali, bilo je zakazano za 22. svibnja na trgu u Valjevu, a načelnik okupiranog grada pozvao je ljude da dođu gledati pogubljenje koje je trebala obaviti srpska državna straža. Čim je izveden iz zatvora Filipović je počeo pozivati narod na otpor neprijatelju i okupatoru. Na istom mjestu gdje su bila postavljena vješala za njega, Turci su 1804. posjekli knezove Aleksu Nenadovića i Iliju Birčanina, a okupilo se oko 3.000 ljudi. Filipović je i dalje pozivao na otpor, a kad su mu pokušali staviti omču oko vrata oteo ju je iz ruku svojih krvnika, sam je sebi stavio oko vrata i popeo na posljednju stepenicu vješala.

Kako je imao pravo na posljednje riječi, nastavio je govoriti o otporu naroda Nijemcima, a jedan od oficira htio ga je prekinuti i upucati. Nadređeni ga je ipak u tome spriječio, ali tako što je gurnuo klupu na kojoj je bio Filipović, koji nije mogao završiti rečenicu. Njegovo tijelo ostavili su dva dana da visi na trgu.

Fotografija Filipovića na vješalima koja je kasnije ušla u legendu kao simbol borbe protiv nacističke Njemačke djelo je Slobodanke Vasić. Ona je tad imala 17 godina i radila je kao fotograf u fotografskoj radnji Kosare Anti. Kako se vjeruje, prije nego će Filipović biti pogubljen neki mladić je ušao u fotografsku radnju u kojoj je Slobodanka radila i ostavio cedulju s pozivom da sutradan prisustvuje i fotografira vješanje. Ona je to i učinila, a sliku je već sutradan poslije vješanja stavila u izlog radnje. Mnogi su kopiju slike kupili još tada, kao uspomenu na Filipovića. Nijemci su vrlo brzo zbog toga Slobodanku uhitili i ubrzo pustili jer nije znala reći tko je fotografiranje naručio. Kasnije, nakon oslobođenja, valjevski zubar Branko Kesler odnio je jednu kopiju slike i predao je u "Politiku" da bi ona 4. studenog 1944. godine bila objavljena na naslovnoj strani.

Jugoslovenski heroj Stjepan Filipović zapamćen je kako na vlastitom stratištu stoji s uzdignutim rukama, stisnutih šaka, s omčom oko vrata. U tom je povijesnom trenutku pozvao na otpor fašizmu i postao jedan od simbola Drugog svjetskog rata, prisjeća se National Geographic.

Priča o Filipoviću bila bi nevjerojatna čak i da nema te čuvene fotografije.

Stjepan Filipović rođen je 27. siječnja 1916. godine u Opuzenu na obali Neretve, a u matične knjige upisan je kao Stipan. Njegova obitelj odselila je u Mostar, gdje su ga svi zvali Stjepan, a potom su nastavili dalje, sve do Kragujevca gdje je mladić dobio ime Stevan. Zato danas njegova ulica u Beogradu nosi dva imena - Stjepan Stevan Filipović.

Okupacija Kraljevine Jugoslavije zatekla je Filipovića u Kragujevcu, gdje je živio ilegalno, skrivajući se od okupatora i od policije. Krajem lipnja 1941. odlazi u Valjevo i pomaže formiranju Valjevskog patrizanskog odreda. Nijemci su ga međutim uhitili i odveli u zatvor u Šabac, a kasnije ga prebacili u Beograd ne bi li ga tamo Gestapo ispitao. Filipović međutim nije odao svoje suborce pa je 1942. vraćen u Valjevo, gdje je osuđen na smrt vješanjem. Tu, navodi jedan od izvora o ovom junaku, sestra predaje "bež hlače na pruge, smeđi sako i kapu "titovku". Ova odjeća postala je, zajedno sa Stevanom, simbol otpora".

Vješanje "vođe buntovnika", kako su ga nazvali, bilo je zakazano za 22. svibnja na trgu u Valjevu, a načelnik okupiranog grada pozvao je ljude da dođu gledati pogubljenje koje je trebala obaviti srpska državna straža. Čim je izveden iz zatvora Filipović je počeo pozivati narod na otpor neprijatelju i okupatoru. Na istom mjestu gdje su bila postavljena vješala za njega, Turci su 1804. posjekli knezove Aleksu Nenadovića i Iliju Birčanina, a okupilo se oko 3.000 ljudi. Filipović je i dalje pozivao na otpor, a kad su mu pokušali staviti omču oko vrata oteo ju je iz ruku svojih krvnika, sam je sebi stavio oko vrata i popeo na posljednju stepenicu vješala.

Kako je imao pravo na posljednje riječi, nastavio je govoriti o otporu naroda Nijemcima, a jedan od oficira htio ga je prekinuti i upucati. Nadređeni ga je ipak u tome spriječio, ali tako što je gurnuo klupu na kojoj je bio Filipović, koji nije mogao završiti rečenicu. Njegovo tijelo ostavili su dva dana da visi na trgu.

Fotografija Filipovića na vješalima koja je kasnije ušla u legendu kao simbol borbe protiv nacističke Njemačke djelo je Slobodanke Vasić. Ona je tad imala 17 godina i radila je kao fotograf u fotografskoj radnji Kosare Anti. Kako se vjeruje, prije nego će Filipović biti pogubljen neki mladić je ušao u fotografsku radnju u kojoj je Slobodanka radila i ostavio cedulju s pozivom da sutradan prisustvuje i fotografira vješanje. Ona je to i učinila, a sliku je već sutradan poslije vješanja stavila u izlog radnje. Mnogi su kopiju slike kupili još tada, kao uspomenu na Filipovića. Nijemci su vrlo brzo zbog toga Slobodanku uhitili i ubrzo pustili jer nije znala reći tko je fotografiranje naručio. Kasnije, nakon oslobođenja, valjevski zubar Branko Kesler odnio je jednu kopiju slike i predao je u "Politiku" da bi ona 4. studenog 1944. godine bila objavljena na naslovnoj strani.

Jugoslovenski heroj Stjepan Filipović zapamćen je kako na vlastitom stratištu stoji s uzdignutim rukama, stisnutih šaka, s omčom oko vrata. U tom je povijesnom trenutku pozvao na otpor fašizmu i postao jedan od simbola Drugog svjetskog rata, prisjeća se National Geographic.

Priča o Filipoviću bila bi nevjerojatna čak i da nema te čuvene fotografije.

Stjepan Filipović rođen je 27. siječnja 1916. godine u Opuzenu na obali Neretve, a u matične knjige upisan je kao Stipan. Njegova obitelj odselila je u Mostar, gdje su ga svi zvali Stjepan, a potom su nastavili dalje, sve do Kragujevca gdje je mladić dobio ime Stevan. Zato danas njegova ulica u Beogradu nosi dva imena - Stjepan Stevan Filipović.
