Fotografija koji je snimio BBC-ijev reporter Ricardo Senra , postala je viralna u njegovom rodnom Brazilu nakon što ju je podijelilo više od 100.000 ljudi. Na njoj je voće jackfruit koje se prodaje za 160 funti (oko 192 eura) na Borough Marketu, jednoj od najvećih i najstarijih zelenih tržnica u Londonu.

Visoka cijena šokirala je korisnike Twittera, a mnogi su se našalili da će odletjeti u Veliku Britaniju kako bi prodajom jackfruita postali "multimilijunaši", piše BBC.

Naime, svježi jackfruit može se naći u mnogim dijelovima Brazila za 1,10 dolara po komadu, a jednako je dostupan i u mnogim drugim tropskim zemljama.

Može se čak i besplatno ukloniti sa drveća na mnogim mjestima, ali velika većina ovog voća - barem u Brazilu - ostavljena je da trune na ulicama.

Što onda objašnjava tako visoku cijenu za komad voća, koji neki potrošači smatraju "egzotičnim"?

I zašto je međunarodna potražnja za njim u posljednje vrijeme porasla?

Prije svega, ne smijemo zaboraviti da mjesto prodaje utječe na cijenu  i to vrijedi za svaki proizvod.

„Čak i u samom Brazilu cijena jackfruita varira. Postoje mjesta gdje ga možete besplatno pokupiti s drveća. Za druge je to izuzetno skupo", rekla je za BBC Sabrina Sartori, izvršna direktorica Estancia das Frutas, voćnjaka s 3000 različitih vrsta u brazilskoj državi Sao Paulo.

Također, jackfruit se ne može komercijalno uzgajati u hladnijim zemljama poput Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva.

Ali nije samo to. Međunarodna trgovina jackfrutom posebno je složena i rizična, kažu stručnjaci, iz nekoliko razloga, uključujući njegovu kvarljivost, sezonsku prirodu i veličinu.

“Jackfruit je jako težak, vrlo brzo sazrijeva i ima vrlo čudnu aromu koja nije ugodna za svakoga”, dodaje Sartori.

Ovo voće, koje potječe iz Azije, izrazito je kvarljivo i ima kratak rok trajanja u supermarketima. U zemljama u kojima raste često se smatra neukusnim, a doživio je nagli porast potražnje u razvijenim zemljama zbog vegetarijanaca i vegana, koji ga smatraju alternativom mesu. Kada je kuhana, tekstura podsjeća na govedinu ili svinjetinu, što ga čini popularnom zamjenom za meso kao što su tofu, quorn i seitan bez glutena.

Samo u Velikoj Britaniji broj vegana se procjenjuje na 3,5 milijuna i u porastu je.

Međutim, kada se jackfruit prezre – a taj se proces događa vrlo brzo – postaje slađi i može se koristiti samo kao desert.

Potrošačima je stoga pristupačnija alternativa kupovati ga u konzervi, može ga se pronaći u britanskim supermarketima za neka četiri dolara, no mnogi tvrde da nema isti okus.

Drugi je element, kažu stručnjaci, nepoznavanje voća – iako je jackfruit sve popularniji, mnogi ga potrošači nikada nisu probali i ne znaju nijedan recept koji se s njim može napraviti.

Važna stavka je i ta što je  zračni promet značajno rastao od izbijanja pandemije Covid-19.

-Mnogo voća iz područja Azije i Južne Amerike stiže u Europu putničkim zrakoplovima. Avioprijevoznici sada traže proizvode s većom dodanom vrijednošću za svoj teretni prostor. Jackfruit je izrazito kvarljiv i usko specijaliziran pa ga se ne isplati uvoziti u velikim količinama. Sve to diže njegovu konačnu cijenu”, kaže Fabricio Torres, uvoznik egzotičnog voća sa sjedištem u Nizozemskoj.

Unatoč svim preprekama, nedavne studije procjenjuju ekspanziju međunarodnog tržišta jackfruita, objavio je BBC.

Ovo voće poznato je i kao Nangka. Na prvi pogled podsjeća na divovsko jaje dinosaura ili na izvanzemaljca iz filmova znanstvene fantastike. Međutim, riječ je o voću snažne arome koje se uzgaja u tropskim krajevima, a raste u dijelovima južne i jugoistočne Azije i po mišljenju znanstvenika milijune ljudi u svijetu moglo bi spasiti od gladi.

Nacionalno je voće Bangladeša, bogato vlaknima, mineralima i vitaminima, bez zasićenih masnoća i kolesterola, što ga čini zdravom namirnicom. Znanstvenici vjeruju da bi upravo ovo voće, koje kada je nedozrelo okusom podsjeća na svinjetinu, moglo rjiešiti problem gladi u svijetu.

Fotografija koji je snimio BBC-ijev reporter Ricardo Senra , postala je viralna u njegovom rodnom Brazilu nakon što ju je podijelilo više od 100.000 ljudi. Na njoj je voće jackfruit koje se prodaje za 160 funti (oko 192 eura) na Borough Marketu, jednoj od najvećih i najstarijih zelenih tržnica u Londonu.

Visoka cijena šokirala je korisnike Twittera, a mnogi su se našalili da će odletjeti u Veliku Britaniju kako bi prodajom jackfruita postali "multimilijunaši", piše BBC.

Naime, svježi jackfruit može se naći u mnogim dijelovima Brazila za 1,10 dolara po komadu, a jednako je dostupan i u mnogim drugim tropskim zemljama.

Može se čak i besplatno ukloniti sa drveća na mnogim mjestima, ali velika većina ovog voća - barem u Brazilu - ostavljena je da trune na ulicama.

I zašto je međunarodna potražnja za njim u posljednje vrijeme porasla?

Prije svega, ne smijemo zaboraviti da mjesto prodaje utječe na cijenu  i to vrijedi za svaki proizvod.

„Čak i u samom Brazilu cijena jackfruita varira. Postoje mjesta gdje ga možete besplatno pokupiti s drveća. Za druge je to izuzetno skupo", rekla je za BBC Sabrina Sartori, izvršna direktorica Estancia das Frutas, voćnjaka s 3000 različitih vrsta u brazilskoj državi Sao Paulo.

Također, jackfruit se ne može komercijalno uzgajati u hladnijim zemljama poput Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva.

Ali nije samo to. Međunarodna trgovina jackfrutom posebno je složena i rizična, kažu stručnjaci, iz nekoliko razloga, uključujući njegovu kvarljivost, sezonsku prirodu i veličinu.

“Jackfruit je jako težak, vrlo brzo sazrijeva i ima vrlo čudnu aromu koja nije ugodna za svakoga”, dodaje Sartori.

Ovo voće, koje potječe iz Azije, izrazito je kvarljivo i ima kratak rok trajanja u supermarketima. U zemljama u kojima raste često se smatra neukusnim, a doživio je nagli porast potražnje u razvijenim zemljama zbog vegetarijanaca i vegana, koji ga smatraju alternativom mesu. Kada je kuhana, tekstura podsjeća na govedinu ili svinjetinu, što ga čini popularnom zamjenom za meso kao što su tofu, quorn i seitan bez glutena.

Samo u Velikoj Britaniji broj vegana se procjenjuje na 3,5 milijuna i u porastu je.

Međutim, kada se jackfruit prezre – a taj se proces događa vrlo brzo – postaje slađi i može se koristiti samo kao desert.

Potrošačima je stoga pristupačnija alternativa kupovati ga u konzervi, može ga se pronaći u britanskim supermarketima za neka četiri dolara, no mnogi tvrde da nema isti okus.

Drugi je element, kažu stručnjaci, nepoznavanje voća – iako je jackfruit sve popularniji, mnogi ga potrošači nikada nisu probali i ne znaju nijedan recept koji se s njim može napraviti.

Važna stavka je i ta što je  zračni promet značajno rastao od izbijanja pandemije Covid-19.

-Mnogo voća iz područja Azije i Južne Amerike stiže u Europu putničkim zrakoplovima. Avioprijevoznici sada traže proizvode s većom dodanom vrijednošću za svoj teretni prostor. Jackfruit je izrazito kvarljiv i usko specijaliziran pa ga se ne isplati uvoziti u velikim količinama. Sve to diže njegovu konačnu cijenu”, kaže Fabricio Torres, uvoznik egzotičnog voća sa sjedištem u Nizozemskoj.

Unatoč svim preprekama, nedavne studije procjenjuju ekspanziju međunarodnog tržišta jackfruita, objavio je BBC.

Ovo voće poznato je i kao Nangka. Na prvi pogled podsjeća na divovsko jaje dinosaura ili na izvanzemaljca iz filmova znanstvene fantastike. Međutim, riječ je o voću snažne arome koje se uzgaja u tropskim krajevima, a raste u dijelovima južne i jugoistočne Azije i po mišljenju znanstvenika milijune ljudi u svijetu moglo bi spasiti od gladi.

Nacionalno je voće Bangladeša, bogato vlaknima, mineralima i vitaminima, bez zasićenih masnoća i kolesterola, što ga čini zdravom namirnicom. Znanstvenici vjeruju da bi upravo ovo voće, koje kada je nedozrelo okusom podsjeća na svinjetinu, moglo rjiešiti problem gladi u svijetu.

Fotografija koji je snimio BBC-ijev reporter Ricardo Senra , postala je viralna u njegovom rodnom Brazilu nakon što ju je podijelilo više od 100.000 ljudi. Na njoj je voće jackfruit koje se prodaje za 160 funti (oko 192 eura) na Borough Marketu, jednoj od najvećih i najstarijih zelenih tržnica u Londonu.

Visoka cijena šokirala je korisnike Twittera, a mnogi su se našalili da će odletjeti u Veliku Britaniju kako bi prodajom jackfruita postali "multimilijunaši", piše BBC.

Naime, svježi jackfruit može se naći u mnogim dijelovima Brazila za 1,10 dolara po komadu, a jednako je dostupan i u mnogim drugim tropskim zemljama.

Može se čak i besplatno ukloniti sa drveća na mnogim mjestima, ali velika većina ovog voća - barem u Brazilu - ostavljena je da trune na ulicama.
