Kakav je renome Goran Paskaljević (1947. – 2020.) uživao u svjetskim krugovima potvrđuje da je njegovu smrt, zemaljske dane koji su istekli, zabilježila i međunarodna federacija filmskih kritičara FIPRESCI, uz podsjetnik da je srpski režiser dobitnik njihove počasne nagrade.

Paskaljević je bio jedan od međunarodno najpriznatijih filmaša s ovih prostora. Diplomirao je režiju na FAMU u Pragu 1972. kao uzoran učenik "praške škole" i pripadnik uspješne "praške generacije" s Lordanom Zafranovićem, Rajkom Grlićem, Srđanom Karanovićem i imenjakom Goranom Markovićem.

Od svih njih Paskaljević je bio vjerojatno međunarodno najuspješniji i najviše dobacio do (festivalske) Europe i svijeta. Paskaljevićev dugometražni igrani prvijenac "Čuvar plaže u zimskom periodu" (1976.) ovjenčan je posebnim priznanjem na Berlinaleu, nakon što je osvojio Zlatnu arenu za režiju na Puli. "Poseban tretman" (1980.) našao se, pak, u konkurenciji Cannesa, gdje je Milena Dravić progašena najboljom sporednom glumicom.

Ovaj redatelj je i snimio nekoliko filmova u Hollywoodu, odnosno međunarodnoj koprodukciji – "Suton" (1982.) s Karlom Maldenom, tj. "Tuđa Amerika" (1995.) i "Kako je Harry postao drvo" (2001.), a u potonjem ostvarenju, iz konkurencije Venecije, angažirao je Colma Meaneyja i tada mladog Cilliana Murphyja.

Baš te 2001. filmski časopis "Variety" uvrstio je Paskaljevića među pet najboljih redatelja godine, čemu je sigurno kumovala  zapažena američka kinodistribucija njegovog ponajboljeg filma "Bure baruta" (1998.), poznatog po engleskom naslovu "Cabaret Balkan" za međunarodno tržište.

Konačno, to je čovjek kojemu su newyorška MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) i londonski BFI (British Film Institute) upriličili cjelovitu retrospektivu kao – ako se ne varamo – jedinom filmašu s ovih prostora. Nije, međutim, Paskaljevića samo voljela strana kritika i struka, već i domaća publika.

Gledatelje raznih generacija diljem bivše Jugoslavije pridobio je nizom kultnih filmova i klasika, frekventnim angažmanom glumačkih zvijezda/kreme ex-YU glumišta (Danilo "Bata" Stojković, Bata Živojinović, Pavle Vuisić, Ljubiša Samardžić, Neda Arnerić, Miki Manojlović...), balansiranjem između poistovjetljive komedije i drame/tragedije, zainteresiranošću za sudbine pojedin(a)ca, margin(alc)e balkanskog društva u kojima se ogleda društvo kao takvo.

Komedije su mu bile sjetne i živopisno naslovljene, poput "Čuvara plaže u zimskom periodu" i "Psa koji je volio vozove" (1977.). Drame britke, socio-politički kritičke, od "Zemaljski dani teku" (1979.) i "Posebnog tretmana", ambijentiranih u starački dom i dom za alkoholičare, do "Anđela čuvara" (1987.), "Vrijeme čuda" (1989.), "Bureta baruta" i "Kad svane dan" (2012.).

Među komedijama najpopularnija je bila legendarna "Varljivo ljeto '68" iz 1984., s jednom od definitivnih erotskih scena i rečenica ex-YU kinematografije (kad mladi pekar Slavko Štimac "zamijesi" grudi seksi kolegice Dragane Varagić; "Mesi, mesi, neće ništa da ti škodi").

Ako "Varljivo ljeto '68" ponajbolje svodi Paskaljevićevu komediju i ex-YU erotiku, "Bure baruta" je ključna drama njegova opusa koja se uklopila u trend "90's" filmova "short cuts" strukture s galerijom povezanih likova i sudbina tijekom jedne (za njih) sudbonosne večeri ili dana ("Noć na zemlji", "Kratki rezovi", "Pakleni šund"...).

"Short cuts" drama je u Paskaljevićevom filmu podignuta na veću razinu kao komad dugotrajno bolnih "kratkih rezova" balkanskih devedesetih. Malo je koji film dao tako precizan "kabaretski" portret Balkana kakav je tada bio i još uvijek jest – "bure baruta".

‘All-star‘ casting

Paskaljević je režirao Irfana Mensura u prvoj ("Čuvar plaže u zimskom periodu") i Miju Aleksića u posljednjoj ulozi ("Tango Argentino"). "Bure baruta" je imalo all-star cast, možda i najjači uopće na ovim prostorima u jednom filmu: Miki Manojlović, Voja Brajović, Bogdan Diklić, Dragan Nikolić, Lazar Ristovski, Nebojša Glogovac, Aleksandar Berček, Milena Dravić, Mirjana Karanović, Mira Banjac, Sergej Trifunović...

Kakav je renome Goran Paskaljević (1947. – 2020.) uživao u svjetskim krugovima potvrđuje da je njegovu smrt, zemaljske dane koji su istekli, zabilježila i međunarodna federacija filmskih kritičara FIPRESCI, uz podsjetnik da je srpski režiser dobitnik njihove počasne nagrade.

Paskaljević je bio jedan od međunarodno najpriznatijih filmaša s ovih prostora. Diplomirao je režiju na FAMU u Pragu 1972. kao uzoran učenik "praške škole" i pripadnik uspješne "praške generacije" s Lordanom Zafranovićem, Rajkom Grlićem, Srđanom Karanovićem i imenjakom Goranom Markovićem.

Od svih njih Paskaljević je bio vjerojatno međunarodno najuspješniji i najviše dobacio do (festivalske) Europe i svijeta. Paskaljevićev dugometražni igrani prvijenac "Čuvar plaže u zimskom periodu" (1976.) ovjenčan je posebnim priznanjem na Berlinaleu, nakon što je osvojio Zlatnu arenu za režiju na Puli. "Poseban tretman" (1980.) našao se, pak, u konkurenciji Cannesa, gdje je Milena Dravić progašena najboljom sporednom glumicom.

Ovaj redatelj je i snimio nekoliko filmova u Hollywoodu, odnosno međunarodnoj koprodukciji – "Suton" (1982.) s Karlom Maldenom, tj. "Tuđa Amerika" (1995.) i "Kako je Harry postao drvo" (2001.), a u potonjem ostvarenju, iz konkurencije Venecije, angažirao je Colma Meaneyja i tada mladog Cilliana Murphyja.

Baš te 2001. filmski časopis "Variety" uvrstio je Paskaljevića među pet najboljih redatelja godine, čemu je sigurno kumovala  zapažena američka kinodistribucija njegovog ponajboljeg filma "Bure baruta" (1998.), poznatog po engleskom naslovu "Cabaret Balkan" za međunarodno tržište.

Konačno, to je čovjek kojemu su newyorška MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) i londonski BFI (British Film Institute) upriličili cjelovitu retrospektivu kao – ako se ne varamo – jedinom filmašu s ovih prostora. Nije, međutim, Paskaljevića samo voljela strana kritika i struka, već i domaća publika.

Gledatelje raznih generacija diljem bivše Jugoslavije pridobio je nizom kultnih filmova i klasika, frekventnim angažmanom glumačkih zvijezda/kreme ex-YU glumišta (Danilo "Bata" Stojković, Bata Živojinović, Pavle Vuisić, Ljubiša Samardžić, Neda Arnerić, Miki Manojlović...), balansiranjem između poistovjetljive komedije i drame/tragedije, zainteresiranošću za sudbine pojedin(a)ca, margin(alc)e balkanskog društva u kojima se ogleda društvo kao takvo.

Komedije su mu bile sjetne i živopisno naslovljene, poput "Čuvara plaže u zimskom periodu" i "Psa koji je volio vozove" (1977.). Drame britke, socio-politički kritičke, od "Zemaljski dani teku" (1979.) i "Posebnog tretmana", ambijentiranih u starački dom i dom za alkoholičare, do "Anđela čuvara" (1987.), "Vrijeme čuda" (1989.), "Bureta baruta" i "Kad svane dan" (2012.).

Među komedijama najpopularnija je bila legendarna "Varljivo ljeto '68" iz 1984., s jednom od definitivnih erotskih scena i rečenica ex-YU kinematografije (kad mladi pekar Slavko Štimac "zamijesi" grudi seksi kolegice Dragane Varagić; "Mesi, mesi, neće ništa da ti škodi").

Ako "Varljivo ljeto '68" ponajbolje svodi Paskaljevićevu komediju i ex-YU erotiku, "Bure baruta" je ključna drama njegova opusa koja se uklopila u trend "90's" filmova "short cuts" strukture s galerijom povezanih likova i sudbina tijekom jedne (za njih) sudbonosne večeri ili dana ("Noć na zemlji", "Kratki rezovi", "Pakleni šund"...).

"Short cuts" drama je u Paskaljevićevom filmu podignuta na veću razinu kao komad dugotrajno bolnih "kratkih rezova" balkanskih devedesetih. Malo je koji film dao tako precizan "kabaretski" portret Balkana kakav je tada bio i još uvijek jest – "bure baruta".

‘All-star‘ casting

Paskaljević je režirao Irfana Mensura u prvoj ("Čuvar plaže u zimskom periodu") i Miju Aleksića u posljednjoj ulozi ("Tango Argentino"). "Bure baruta" je imalo all-star cast, možda i najjači uopće na ovim prostorima u jednom filmu: Miki Manojlović, Voja Brajović, Bogdan Diklić, Dragan Nikolić, Lazar Ristovski, Nebojša Glogovac, Aleksandar Berček, Milena Dravić, Mirjana Karanović, Mira Banjac, Sergej Trifunović...
