Peti Dani izraelskog filma dobili su svog idealnog glasnogovornika u "Podnajmu" ("Sublet") redatelja i koscenarista Eytana Foxa, premijerno prikazanom na Tribeca festivalu. Naime, "Podnajam" se odvija u rasponu od nekoliko dana, baš kao i sama filmska manifestacija, a radnja je smještena u izraelski Tel Aviv.

K tome, "Sublet" preslikava samu suštinu Dana izraelskog filma. Foxova romantično i humorno intonirana (gay) drama u isti mah gledateljima predstavlja Izrael, izraelsku kulturu i kinematografiju. Gledateljev supstitut je stranac u Izraelu, sredovječni američki novinar, kolumnist i putopisac Michael (John Benjamin Hickey).

Michael dolazi u Tel Aviv na par dana za potrebe članka za "New York Times" i iznajmio je "airbnb" kod mladog studenta filma Tomara (Niv Nissim) koji je pobrkao datume, tako da ga je ovaj zatekao kod kuće.

Amerikanac naumi otići u hotel, budući da nije zakoračio u posve uredan prostor, ali Izraelac, kojemu "stvarno treba novac", uspije nagovoriti čovjeka da ostane, uvjerivši ga da je stan odličan, da će živjeti u najboljem susjedstvu u Tel Avivu i da će on mu biti osoban vodič po turistički neotkrivenim lokacijama.

Sigurno je u odluci o ostanku pomoglo i to što je Tomar zgodan, kako preko "Skypea" primjećuje Michaelov suprug (Peter Spears). "Mogu mu biti otac", govori Michael na to, ali jasno je da mu je Tomar privlačan. Plakati filmova po zidovima ističu Tomarove filmofilske i filmaške preferencije (npr. "Funny Games" Michaela Hanekea), a jedan od njih sugerira njegovo (ne)skriveno spolno opredijeljenje (drugi dio "Strave u Ulici brijestova", horora s gay podtekstom).

Iz dana u dan, Michael i Tomar se bolje upoznavaju i polako zbližavaju kao prijatelji, ali i nešto više od prijatelja, unatoč kulturološkom i generacijskom jazu, tj. činjenici da ne mogu biti različitiji. Stariji Michael je povučeniji, šutljiviji i čini se da skriva nešto što ga evidentno tišti.

Mlađi Tomar je hedonist koji živi za trenutak užitka i užitak trenutka, s prijateljicom, umjetnicom Dariom (Lihi Kornowski), ili nekim muškarcem kojeg je upoznao preko interneta.

Generacijski jaz je oslikan u sceni drukčijeg poimanja AIDS-a i gay revolucije iz razdoblja kad je Michael izgubio ljubavnika i o tome napisao prvu i jedinu knjigu, a koje je utrlo put današnjem vremenu, odnosno kad Daria kaže kako će se preseliti u Berlin, gdje je umjetnička scena razvijenija umjesto da udara temelje sceni u Tel Avivu.

No, mlađa generacija će naučiti nešto od starije. Dok Tomar podsjeća Michaela na vlastitu i bezbrižniju mladost, mladić u starijem Amerikancu otkriva mudrost i uči više o sebi, pa i svijetu oko sebe.

Kako se njihov odnos razvija, "Podnajam" postaje više od filma o različitoj generaciji, drama o razumijevanju i konekciji donedavnih "perfect strangersa", univerzalna neovisno o njihovoj spolnoj preferenciji, otprilike u stilu američkih nezavisnjaka poput "Izgubljenih u prijevodu", pri čemu ovdje Tel Aviv ima važnu ulogu kao tamo Tokio.

Američka nezavisna kinematografija se stapa s izraelskom u fino režiranom i glumljenom filmu o ljubavi u Tel Avivu i ljubavi prema Tel Avivu. Energija grada je zarazna i mnogim bi gledateljima mogli porasti turističko-putoholičarski apetiti dok gledaju "Sublet"; nije isključeno da bi se Tel Aviv mogao trenutačno prometnuti u poželjnu "travel" destinaciju za godišnji odmor i da će netko "proguglati" opcije za putovanje kad dođe kući iz kina.

Tome kumuje i način kako Fox snima film. Ritam je ležeran i vješto preslikava osjećaj dolaska u neki grad u koji ćete se zauvijek zaljubiti do kraja boravka i druženja s potpunim neznancem s kojim možete osjetiti veću, neizrecivu bliskost nego s nekim dobrim znancima, do gorkoslatkih trenutaka neminovnog odlaska i rastan(a)ka.

"Podnajam", dakle, nije standardna ljubavna priča s romantičnim "last minute" preokretom, izlaskom iz aviona i utrkom na aerodromu, već jedan lijepi mali životni film, dirljiv, filmičan i putopisan. Satkan od svega onoga što tvori neko buduće sjećanje.

Peti Dani izraelskog filma dobili su svog idealnog glasnogovornika u "Podnajmu" ("Sublet") redatelja i koscenarista Eytana Foxa, premijerno prikazanom na Tribeca festivalu. Naime, "Podnajam" se odvija u rasponu od nekoliko dana, baš kao i sama filmska manifestacija, a radnja je smještena u izraelski Tel Aviv.

K tome, "Sublet" preslikava samu suštinu Dana izraelskog filma. Foxova romantično i humorno intonirana (gay) drama u isti mah gledateljima predstavlja Izrael, izraelsku kulturu i kinematografiju. Gledateljev supstitut je stranac u Izraelu, sredovječni američki novinar, kolumnist i putopisac Michael (John Benjamin Hickey).

Michael dolazi u Tel Aviv na par dana za potrebe članka za "New York Times" i iznajmio je "airbnb" kod mladog studenta filma Tomara (Niv Nissim) koji je pobrkao datume, tako da ga je ovaj zatekao kod kuće.

Amerikanac naumi otići u hotel, budući da nije zakoračio u posve uredan prostor, ali Izraelac, kojemu "stvarno treba novac", uspije nagovoriti čovjeka da ostane, uvjerivši ga da je stan odličan, da će živjeti u najboljem susjedstvu u Tel Avivu i da će on mu biti osoban vodič po turistički neotkrivenim lokacijama.

Sigurno je u odluci o ostanku pomoglo i to što je Tomar zgodan, kako preko "Skypea" primjećuje Michaelov suprug (Peter Spears). "Mogu mu biti otac", govori Michael na to, ali jasno je da mu je Tomar privlačan. Plakati filmova po zidovima ističu Tomarove filmofilske i filmaške preferencije (npr. "Funny Games" Michaela Hanekea), a jedan od njih sugerira njegovo (ne)skriveno spolno opredijeljenje (drugi dio "Strave u Ulici brijestova", horora s gay podtekstom).

Iz dana u dan, Michael i Tomar se bolje upoznavaju i polako zbližavaju kao prijatelji, ali i nešto više od prijatelja, unatoč kulturološkom i generacijskom jazu, tj. činjenici da ne mogu biti različitiji. Stariji Michael je povučeniji, šutljiviji i čini se da skriva nešto što ga evidentno tišti.

Mlađi Tomar je hedonist koji živi za trenutak užitka i užitak trenutka, s prijateljicom, umjetnicom Dariom (Lihi Kornowski), ili nekim muškarcem kojeg je upoznao preko interneta.

Generacijski jaz je oslikan u sceni drukčijeg poimanja AIDS-a i gay revolucije iz razdoblja kad je Michael izgubio ljubavnika i o tome napisao prvu i jedinu knjigu, a koje je utrlo put današnjem vremenu, odnosno kad Daria kaže kako će se preseliti u Berlin, gdje je umjetnička scena razvijenija umjesto da udara temelje sceni u Tel Avivu.

No, mlađa generacija će naučiti nešto od starije. Dok Tomar podsjeća Michaela na vlastitu i bezbrižniju mladost, mladić u starijem Amerikancu otkriva mudrost i uči više o sebi, pa i svijetu oko sebe.

Kako se njihov odnos razvija, "Podnajam" postaje više od filma o različitoj generaciji, drama o razumijevanju i konekciji donedavnih "perfect strangersa", univerzalna neovisno o njihovoj spolnoj preferenciji, otprilike u stilu američkih nezavisnjaka poput "Izgubljenih u prijevodu", pri čemu ovdje Tel Aviv ima važnu ulogu kao tamo Tokio.

Američka nezavisna kinematografija se stapa s izraelskom u fino režiranom i glumljenom filmu o ljubavi u Tel Avivu i ljubavi prema Tel Avivu. Energija grada je zarazna i mnogim bi gledateljima mogli porasti turističko-putoholičarski apetiti dok gledaju "Sublet"; nije isključeno da bi se Tel Aviv mogao trenutačno prometnuti u poželjnu "travel" destinaciju za godišnji odmor i da će netko "proguglati" opcije za putovanje kad dođe kući iz kina.

Tome kumuje i način kako Fox snima film. Ritam je ležeran i vješto preslikava osjećaj dolaska u neki grad u koji ćete se zauvijek zaljubiti do kraja boravka i druženja s potpunim neznancem s kojim možete osjetiti veću, neizrecivu bliskost nego s nekim dobrim znancima, do gorkoslatkih trenutaka neminovnog odlaska i rastan(a)ka.

"Podnajam", dakle, nije standardna ljubavna priča s romantičnim "last minute" preokretom, izlaskom iz aviona i utrkom na aerodromu, već jedan lijepi mali životni film, dirljiv, filmičan i putopisan. Satkan od svega onoga što tvori neko buduće sjećanje.
