Forma dokumentarnog filma zastupljena je na 25. STFF-u možda više nego ikad prije. Dokumentarci dominiraju na programu STFF-a ("Hi, A.I.", "Zemlja moga oca", "Izgubljena vagina plemena Inka", "Zaho Zay"...), a najvažniji i najsimboličniji, ako ne i najbolji, među njima jest "Budite prirodni: neispričana priča o Alice Guy-Blaché" u režiji Pamele B. Green.

Znamo što se vjerojatno pitate. Čekaj malo, Alice... who? "Zašto nisam nikad čula za nju", postavlja pitanje i jedna od filmašica-sugovornica dokumentarca "Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché", premijerno prikazanog na Cannesu. Alice Guy-Blache (1873. – 1968.) bila je prva filmašica u povijesti, pionirka kinematografije koje se malo tko sjeti čak i ako prati film.

Ništa čudno. Francuska filmašica ispisana je iz mnogih (ne i svih) starih povijesnih knjiga o kinematografiji samo zato što je bila – žena. Zbog Aliceina spola neki povjesničari filma su zanemarivali njezina prijelomna kinematografska postignuća.

Krajnje ironično budući da je Guy-Blache u svom vremenu, kao žena, uživala priličnu slobodu u ulozi filmašice u Americi i spol je nije sputavao, čak ni korzet kojeg je nosila na setu i režirala.

Priznala je to i sama u jednom od intervjua snimljenih između 1956. i 1964. godine. Redateljica Green, stoga, naginje kontekstualizaciji francuske filmašice unutar aktualnog #MeToo pokreta, valjda prve žene iz svijeta filma koju je, kao, pokušala ušutkati maskulina filmska industrija, što ponekad znade djelovati trendovski isforsirano i potencirano na rubu fabriciranja povijesti.

"Budite prirodni" je znatno dojmljiviji kao filmofilsko ljubavno pismo kinematografiji, njezinim počecima i pionirima, pa i istraživački dokumentarac na korak do detektivskog trilera u sastavljanju "puzzlea" iz naslova filma – neispričane priče o Alice Guy-Blaché. Članovi obitelji, akademici, povjesničari, kritičari, filmaši... svi kroniciraju Aliceinu priču i pretresaju obiteljske albume, kinoteke, knjige.

Green je intervjuirala preko 90 ljudi, uključujući producenticu Gale Anne Hurd, redateljice Patty Jenkins i Diablo Cody, redatelje Petera Bogdanovicha i Petera Farrellyja, glumice Julie Delpy i Lake Bell... redom poznate face, kao i naratorica dokumentarca Jodie Foster.

Puno je to ljudi, čak i previše, ali Green ih uspijeva sve zbiti u stotinjak minuta dokumentarca, najboljeg kad kronološki dokumentira početke filma i filmašice koja ga je (pre)porodila u korzetu. Ako su braća Lumiere, te Georges Melies i Edwin S. Porter bili očevi filma, odgovorni za "birth of cinema", Guy-Blaché je bila njegova majka.

Pionirka i revolucionarka koja je doprinijela rođenju kinematografije, trasirala na "moving picture world" kakvog danas znamo i utjecala na brojne filmaše poput Sergeja Ejzenštejna i Alfreda Hitchcocka. Tko zna kakav bi film bio bez Aliceina obola na vizualnom i narativnom planu.

"Split screen" tehnika jedna je od njezinih inovacija, a upravo je ona oblikovala pripovijedanje, tj. narativni film s "malim pričama" koje će kasnije postati scenariji. Počela je, zanimljivo, kao tajnica Leona Gaumonta, šefa legendarne kompanije Gaumont, te voditeljica produkcije. Kad je Gaumonta pitala može li snimiti film, ostalo je povijest – kinematografije i nje same.

Snimila je "The Cabbage Fairy" i profilirala se s umjetnički rafiniranim, populistički zabavnim i društveno relevantnim filmovima kao redateljica i kompletna autorica koja je nadgledala svaki aspekt produkcije, ali i postala vlasnica svog studija (Solax) nakon selidbe u Ameriku.

Vidjeti u to doba ženu iza kamere bila je rijetkost, kamoli da je i šefica vlastitog studija. Povrh toga, Guy-Blaché je eksperimentirala s optičkim efektima i žanrovima, od komedije i vesterna do akcije. Prva je subvertirala rodne uloge pa su žene pucale kao muškarci u njezinim feministički osnažujućim filmovima.

I ne samo to – prva je režirala djecu u važnijim ulogama, kao i pretvorila crnca u glavni lik svog filma. Žena i filmašica ispred svog vremena zaslužila je dokumentarni film koji bi trebao kumovati konačnoj (re)evaluaciji lika i djela Alice Guy-Blaché, doprinijeti njezinu definitivnu izlasku iz opskurnosti kinematografske povijesti.

Green je pokrenula veliku "Kickstarter" kampanju kako bi realizirala ilm i privukla hollywoodske face da joj stanu ispred kamere.

Forma dokumentarnog filma zastupljena je na 25. STFF-u možda više nego ikad prije. Dokumentarci dominiraju na programu STFF-a ("Hi, A.I.", "Zemlja moga oca", "Izgubljena vagina plemena Inka", "Zaho Zay"...), a najvažniji i najsimboličniji, ako ne i najbolji, među njima jest "Budite prirodni: neispričana priča o Alice Guy-Blaché" u režiji Pamele B. Green.

Znamo što se vjerojatno pitate. Čekaj malo, Alice... who? "Zašto nisam nikad čula za nju", postavlja pitanje i jedna od filmašica-sugovornica dokumentarca "Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché", premijerno prikazanog na Cannesu. Alice Guy-Blache (1873. – 1968.) bila je prva filmašica u povijesti, pionirka kinematografije koje se malo tko sjeti čak i ako prati film.

Ništa čudno. Francuska filmašica ispisana je iz mnogih (ne i svih) starih povijesnih knjiga o kinematografiji samo zato što je bila – žena. Zbog Aliceina spola neki povjesničari filma su zanemarivali njezina prijelomna kinematografska postignuća.

Krajnje ironično budući da je Guy-Blache u svom vremenu, kao žena, uživala priličnu slobodu u ulozi filmašice u Americi i spol je nije sputavao, čak ni korzet kojeg je nosila na setu i režirala.

Priznala je to i sama u jednom od intervjua snimljenih između 1956. i 1964. godine. Redateljica Green, stoga, naginje kontekstualizaciji francuske filmašice unutar aktualnog #MeToo pokreta, valjda prve žene iz svijeta filma koju je, kao, pokušala ušutkati maskulina filmska industrija, što ponekad znade djelovati trendovski isforsirano i potencirano na rubu fabriciranja povijesti.

"Budite prirodni" je znatno dojmljiviji kao filmofilsko ljubavno pismo kinematografiji, njezinim počecima i pionirima, pa i istraživački dokumentarac na korak do detektivskog trilera u sastavljanju "puzzlea" iz naslova filma – neispričane priče o Alice Guy-Blaché. Članovi obitelji, akademici, povjesničari, kritičari, filmaši... svi kroniciraju Aliceinu priču i pretresaju obiteljske albume, kinoteke, knjige.

Green je intervjuirala preko 90 ljudi, uključujući producenticu Gale Anne Hurd, redateljice Patty Jenkins i Diablo Cody, redatelje Petera Bogdanovicha i Petera Farrellyja, glumice Julie Delpy i Lake Bell... redom poznate face, kao i naratorica dokumentarca Jodie Foster.

Puno je to ljudi, čak i previše, ali Green ih uspijeva sve zbiti u stotinjak minuta dokumentarca, najboljeg kad kronološki dokumentira početke filma i filmašice koja ga je (pre)porodila u korzetu. Ako su braća Lumiere, te Georges Melies i Edwin S. Porter bili očevi filma, odgovorni za "birth of cinema", Guy-Blaché je bila njegova majka.

Pionirka i revolucionarka koja je doprinijela rođenju kinematografije, trasirala na "moving picture world" kakvog danas znamo i utjecala na brojne filmaše poput Sergeja Ejzenštejna i Alfreda Hitchcocka. Tko zna kakav bi film bio bez Aliceina obola na vizualnom i narativnom planu.

"Split screen" tehnika jedna je od njezinih inovacija, a upravo je ona oblikovala pripovijedanje, tj. narativni film s "malim pričama" koje će kasnije postati scenariji. Počela je, zanimljivo, kao tajnica Leona Gaumonta, šefa legendarne kompanije Gaumont, te voditeljica produkcije. Kad je Gaumonta pitala može li snimiti film, ostalo je povijest – kinematografije i nje same.

Snimila je "The Cabbage Fairy" i profilirala se s umjetnički rafiniranim, populistički zabavnim i društveno relevantnim filmovima kao redateljica i kompletna autorica koja je nadgledala svaki aspekt produkcije, ali i postala vlasnica svog studija (Solax) nakon selidbe u Ameriku.

Vidjeti u to doba ženu iza kamere bila je rijetkost, kamoli da je i šefica vlastitog studija. Povrh toga, Guy-Blaché je eksperimentirala s optičkim efektima i žanrovima, od komedije i vesterna do akcije. Prva je subvertirala rodne uloge pa su žene pucale kao muškarci u njezinim feministički osnažujućim filmovima.

I ne samo to – prva je režirala djecu u važnijim ulogama, kao i pretvorila crnca u glavni lik svog filma. Žena i filmašica ispred svog vremena zaslužila je dokumentarni film koji bi trebao kumovati konačnoj (re)evaluaciji lika i djela Alice Guy-Blaché, doprinijeti njezinu definitivnu izlasku iz opskurnosti kinematografske povijesti.

Green je pokrenula veliku "Kickstarter" kampanju kako bi realizirala ilm i privukla hollywoodske face da joj stanu ispred kamere.
