Odluka Cannes Film Festivala o (ne)održavanju ovogodišnjeg izdanja trebala se dogoditi sredinom travnja, međutim širenje koronavirusa diljem Francuske, Europe i svijeta prisililo je direkciju da ubrza odgodu događaja zakazanoga za 12. svibnja. Samo Francuska broji više od devet tisuća zaraženih i više od 240 umrlih, stoga je odluka pravovremena.

Direkcija najprestižnijeg filmskog festivala na svijetu izdala je službeno priopćenje u četvrtak navečer, uz nadu da bi se 73. Cannes mogao održati krajem lipnja ili početkom srpnja. To bi bio još uvijek idealan tajming budući da npr. od početka rujna počinje tradicionalna festivalska gužva (Venecija, Toronto...). Cannes na ovo definitivno gleda kao na odgodu, a ne na otkazivanje te razmatra nekoliko opcija o novim datumima, svakako da festival ne preskoči godinu.

"Čim nam razvoj zdravstvene situacije u Francuskoj i svijetu bude dozvolio mogućnost, objavit ćemo odluku u skladu s konzultacijom francuske vlade, grada Cannesa, članova odbora festivala, profesionalaca iz filmske industrije i naših partnera. U međuvremenu, Cannes daje podršku svima koji se zalažu za poštivanje izolacije i pokazuje solidarnost u ovim teškim vremenima globalne zdravstvene krize. Vidimo se ubrzo", poručili su iz Cannesa.

Još je neizvjesno što će biti s Marché du Film, filmskim marketom koji se odvija paralelno s Cannesom. Postoji mogućnost da se održi "virtualno", premda će se vjerojatno i njegovo održavanje pomaknuti. Razmatraju se i opcije virtualnog marketa za prikazivanje završenih filmova ukoliko Cannes bude baš otkazan za ovu godinu, ali nadajmo se da neće biti.

Prvi i dosad jedini put da se održavanje Cannesa poremetilo datira u 1968., kad su festival omeli studentski prosvjedi s epicentrom u Parizu. Festival je počeo 10. svibnja 1968., ali se prekinuo pet dana prije službenog završetka. Isprve je Cannes odbijao prekid festivala, ali na to su utjecali "novovalovci" Jean-Luc Godard, Francois Truffaut, Claude Lelouch i Louis Malle, kad su tražili da se događaj stopira s obzirom na okolnosti u čitavoj zemlji.

Odluka Cannes Film Festivala o (ne)održavanju ovogodišnjeg izdanja trebala se dogoditi sredinom travnja, međutim širenje koronavirusa diljem Francuske, Europe i svijeta prisililo je direkciju da ubrza odgodu događaja zakazanoga za 12. svibnja. Samo Francuska broji više od devet tisuća zaraženih i više od 240 umrlih, stoga je odluka pravovremena.

Direkcija najprestižnijeg filmskog festivala na svijetu izdala je službeno priopćenje u četvrtak navečer, uz nadu da bi se 73. Cannes mogao održati krajem lipnja ili početkom srpnja. To bi bio još uvijek idealan tajming budući da npr. od početka rujna počinje tradicionalna festivalska gužva (Venecija, Toronto...). Cannes na ovo definitivno gleda kao na odgodu, a ne na otkazivanje te razmatra nekoliko opcija o novim datumima, svakako da festival ne preskoči godinu.

"Čim nam razvoj zdravstvene situacije u Francuskoj i svijetu bude dozvolio mogućnost, objavit ćemo odluku u skladu s konzultacijom francuske vlade, grada Cannesa, članova odbora festivala, profesionalaca iz filmske industrije i naših partnera. U međuvremenu, Cannes daje podršku svima koji se zalažu za poštivanje izolacije i pokazuje solidarnost u ovim teškim vremenima globalne zdravstvene krize. Vidimo se ubrzo", poručili su iz Cannesa.

Još je neizvjesno što će biti s Marché du Film, filmskim marketom koji se odvija paralelno s Cannesom. Postoji mogućnost da se održi "virtualno", premda će se vjerojatno i njegovo održavanje pomaknuti. Razmatraju se i opcije virtualnog marketa za prikazivanje završenih filmova ukoliko Cannes bude baš otkazan za ovu godinu, ali nadajmo se da neće biti.

Prvi i dosad jedini put da se održavanje Cannesa poremetilo datira u 1968., kad su festival omeli studentski prosvjedi s epicentrom u Parizu. Festival je počeo 10. svibnja 1968., ali se prekinuo pet dana prije službenog završetka. Isprve je Cannes odbijao prekid festivala, ali na to su utjecali "novovalovci" Jean-Luc Godard, Francois Truffaut, Claude Lelouch i Louis Malle, kad su tražili da se događaj stopira s obzirom na okolnosti u čitavoj zemlji.

Odluka Cannes Film Festivala o (ne)održavanju ovogodišnjeg izdanja trebala se dogoditi sredinom travnja, međutim širenje koronavirusa diljem Francuske, Europe i svijeta prisililo je direkciju da ubrza odgodu događaja zakazanoga za 12. svibnja. Samo Francuska broji više od devet tisuća zaraženih i više od 240 umrlih, stoga je odluka pravovremena.

Direkcija najprestižnijeg filmskog festivala na svijetu izdala je službeno priopćenje u četvrtak navečer, uz nadu da bi se 73. Cannes mogao održati krajem lipnja ili početkom srpnja. To bi bio još uvijek idealan tajming budući da npr. od početka rujna počinje tradicionalna festivalska gužva (Venecija, Toronto...).
