Kanadski grad Calgary u ponedjeljak je i službeno odustao od kandidature za domaćinstvo Zimskih olimpijskih igara 2026. godine.

Prošloga tjedna je na referendumu više od 56 posto stanovnika Calgaryja glasovalo protiv kandidature, pa iako taj referendum nije bio obvezujući 15-člano Gradsko vijeće je na sjednici održanoj u ponedjeljak odlučilo odustati od kandidature.

Calgary je bio domaćin ZOI 1988. godine, a njegovim odustajanjem Međunarodnom olimpijskom odboru (MOO) preostale su samo dvije kandidature, ona švedskog glavnog grada Stockholma te zajednička kandidatura talijanskih Milana i Cortine d'Ampezzo.

Ranije su od kandidature odustali švicarski Sion, japanski Sapporo i austrijski Graz dok je MOO odbacio kandidaturu turskog Erzuruma.

Domaćin ZOI 2026. bit će određen na kongresu MOO-a u lipnju sljedeće godine. Ovogodišnje ZOI održane su u Pjongčangu, dok će domaćin sljedećih 2022. biti Peking.

Kanadski grad Calgary u ponedjeljak je i službeno odustao od kandidature za domaćinstvo Zimskih olimpijskih igara 2026. godine.

Prošloga tjedna je na referendumu više od 56 posto stanovnika Calgaryja glasovalo protiv kandidature, pa iako taj referendum nije bio obvezujući 15-člano Gradsko vijeće je na sjednici održanoj u ponedjeljak odlučilo odustati od kandidature.

Calgary je bio domaćin ZOI 1988. godine, a njegovim odustajanjem Međunarodnom olimpijskom odboru (MOO) preostale su samo dvije kandidature, ona švedskog glavnog grada Stockholma te zajednička kandidatura talijanskih Milana i Cortine d'Ampezzo.

Ranije su od kandidature odustali švicarski Sion, japanski Sapporo i austrijski Graz dok je MOO odbacio kandidaturu turskog Erzuruma.

Domaćin ZOI 2026. bit će određen na kongresu MOO-a u lipnju sljedeće godine. Ovogodišnje ZOI održane su u Pjongčangu, dok će domaćin sljedećih 2022. biti Peking.
