Ove godine mrvicu je uranila, ali joj se dubrovački akvatorij očito omilio. Serija fotografija nakupina meduza iz Uvale Lapad, objavljena na Facebook stranici ‘Jedno drugo vrijeme, Vrijeme dobrih Duhova od Grada, Dubrovčana dobra duha‘, poziva na oprez jer je sezona kupanja pred vratima, a morski klobuci viđeni su osim u Lapadu i u Portu te oko Šipana.

Znanstveni suradnik Instituta za more i priobalje Sveučilišta u Dubrovniku dr. Rade Garić brzo je detektirao vrstu koja nije novost u našem priobalju:

- Lapadska meduza je Morska mjesečina, poznata i kao Pelagia noctiluca, a pojavljuje se u desetogodišnjim ciklusima u većem broju. Najviše joj odgovaraju temperature od 16°C do 19°C, tako da bi se trebala razići do kraja lipnja – predviđa sugovornik koji nudi i recept u slučaju neželjenog ‘bliskog susreta‘ sa žarnjacima koje s pučine vjetar nanosi na obalu:

- Ocat se preporučuje za tretiranje opeklina od meduza, ali ova vrsta je iznimka. Kod tretiranja opeklina od Morske mjesečine ocat može biti neefikasan ili čak pogoršati stanje pa se savjetuje koristiti tople obloge – kaže nam dr. Garić o meduzi koja nije rijetkost u Portu gdje je nanosi šilok.

Prošlog ljeta bile su joj izložene vale okrenute prema zapadu, dok ih je popodnevni maestral donio na plažu Dubrovnik Presidenta i Danče. U jutarnjim satima Morskoj mjesečini su ljeti češće na udaru stari Porat, Bellevue i Šunj. Svakako je poželjno izbjegavati bliski susret s Pelagijom noctilucom jer zna dobro opeći. Najosjetljiviji su trbuh i podlaktice, dok je na rukama manje problema jer je koža tvrđa pa ju je teže probiti. No, pritom treba biti oprezan i ne dodirivati rukom licekako se ne bi na njega prenijelo zaostale ‘žarnice‘.

Morska mjesečina dosta je rasprostranjena u umjereno toplim morima poput Jadranskog, a svojstvo bioluminiscencije omogućuje joj da lagano svijetli u mraku, bljeskajući kad je nose valovi.

Dermatovenerolozi pak podsjećaju kako kod kontakta s meduzom dolazi do uobičajene reakcije kože, odnosno do kontaktnog dermatitisa koji odlikuju simptomi kao što je pojačano crvenilo kože, otok, a katkad i mjehurići na opečenom mjestu. Javljaju se i simptomi poput pečenja, svrbeža i boli. Intenzitet popratnih pojava ovisi o vrsti meduze, kao i o duljini kontakta opečenog s morskim klobukom.

Na sreću, kod većine kupača, ribara i izletnika simptomi dodira meduze su blagi. Upućeni napominju da, čim se postane svjestan kontakta s meduzom, treba izaći iz mora i isprati opečeno područje, te nastojati čim prije ukloniti zaostale ‘žarnice‘ s kože rukavicom, pincetom ili ih ostrugati plastificiranom karticom. Zahvaćenu površinu na koži nikako se ne smije trljati, češkati niti pritiskati kako se ne bi aktivirale eventualno zaostale ‘žarnice‘ na površini kože.

Praćenje dnevnih migracija

U Institutu su trenutno u tijeku dva projekta financirana od Hrvatske
zaklade za znanost. Oba proučavaju plankton otvorenog mora: Projekt
SpaTeGen i projekt DiVMAd. Uz ostalo se prati dnevna vertikalna migracija zooplanktona gore i dolje u vodenom stupcu tijekom dnevnog ciklusa, veza između primarnih proizvođača i vršnih predatora (riba)...

Razumijevanje migracijskih obrazaca i vertikalne raspodjele biomase od ključne je važnosti za razumijevanje funkcioniranja pelagičkog ekosustava, kažu zannastvenici.

Ove godine mrvicu je uranila, ali joj se dubrovački akvatorij očito omilio. Serija fotografija nakupina meduza iz Uvale Lapad, objavljena na Facebook stranici ‘Jedno drugo vrijeme, Vrijeme dobrih Duhova od Grada, Dubrovčana dobra duha‘, poziva na oprez jer je sezona kupanja pred vratima, a morski klobuci viđeni su osim u Lapadu i u Portu te oko Šipana.

Znanstveni suradnik Instituta za more i priobalje Sveučilišta u Dubrovniku dr. Rade Garić brzo je detektirao vrstu koja nije novost u našem priobalju:

- Lapadska meduza je Morska mjesečina, poznata i kao Pelagia noctiluca, a pojavljuje se u desetogodišnjim ciklusima u većem broju. Najviše joj odgovaraju temperature od 16°C do 19°C, tako da bi se trebala razići do kraja lipnja – predviđa sugovornik koji nudi i recept u slučaju neželjenog ‘bliskog susreta‘ sa žarnjacima koje s pučine vjetar nanosi na obalu:

- Ocat se preporučuje za tretiranje opeklina od meduza, ali ova vrsta je iznimka. Kod tretiranja opeklina od Morske mjesečine ocat može biti neefikasan ili čak pogoršati stanje pa se savjetuje koristiti tople obloge – kaže nam dr. Garić o meduzi koja nije rijetkost u Portu gdje je nanosi šilok.

Prošlog ljeta bile su joj izložene vale okrenute prema zapadu, dok ih je popodnevni maestral donio na plažu Dubrovnik Presidenta i Danče. U jutarnjim satima Morskoj mjesečini su ljeti češće na udaru stari Porat, Bellevue i Šunj. Svakako je poželjno izbjegavati bliski susret s Pelagijom noctilucom jer zna dobro opeći. Najosjetljiviji su trbuh i podlaktice, dok je na rukama manje problema jer je koža tvrđa pa ju je teže probiti. No, pritom treba biti oprezan i ne dodirivati rukom licekako se ne bi na njega prenijelo zaostale ‘žarnice‘.

Morska mjesečina dosta je rasprostranjena u umjereno toplim morima poput Jadranskog, a svojstvo bioluminiscencije omogućuje joj da lagano svijetli u mraku, bljeskajući kad je nose valovi.

Dermatovenerolozi pak podsjećaju kako kod kontakta s meduzom dolazi do uobičajene reakcije kože, odnosno do kontaktnog dermatitisa koji odlikuju simptomi kao što je pojačano crvenilo kože, otok, a katkad i mjehurići na opečenom mjestu. Javljaju se i simptomi poput pečenja, svrbeža i boli. Intenzitet popratnih pojava ovisi o vrsti meduze, kao i o duljini kontakta opečenog s morskim klobukom.

Na sreću, kod većine kupača, ribara i izletnika simptomi dodira meduze su blagi. Upućeni napominju da, čim se postane svjestan kontakta s meduzom, treba izaći iz mora i isprati opečeno područje, te nastojati čim prije ukloniti zaostale ‘žarnice‘ s kože rukavicom, pincetom ili ih ostrugati plastificiranom karticom. Zahvaćenu površinu na koži nikako se ne smije trljati, češkati niti pritiskati kako se ne bi aktivirale eventualno zaostale ‘žarnice‘ na površini kože.

Praćenje dnevnih migracija

U Institutu su trenutno u tijeku dva projekta financirana od Hrvatske
zaklade za znanost. Oba proučavaju plankton otvorenog mora: Projekt
SpaTeGen i projekt DiVMAd. Uz ostalo se prati dnevna vertikalna migracija zooplanktona gore i dolje u vodenom stupcu tijekom dnevnog ciklusa, veza između primarnih proizvođača i vršnih predatora (riba)...

Razumijevanje migracijskih obrazaca i vertikalne raspodjele biomase od ključne je važnosti za razumijevanje funkcioniranja pelagičkog ekosustava, kažu zannastvenici.
