Izložba kojom se obilježava stogodišnjica smrti Mata Celestina Medovića, jednog od najvažnijih predstavnika hrvatskog modernog slikarstva koja je postavljena u Galeriji Dulčić Masle Pulitika produžuje se do nedjelje, 28. veljače 2021. godine.

Izložba obuhvaća djela iz zbirke Umjetničke galerije Dubrovnik – portrete, djela sakralne motivike, mrtve prirode i pejzaže, te različite studije. Žanrovska raznolikost koja karakterizira kolekciju Medovićevih djela iz Umjetničke galerije Dubrovnik zapravo odražava nikad dovoljno naglašavanu činjenicu – da je Medović bio umjetnik koji je visoke dosege ostvario u različitim poljima djelovanja – povijesnom, religijskom, portretnom i pejzažnom slikarstvu. Odabrani portreti od onih nastalih u doba Medovićeva školovanja u Italiji (1880. -1886.) pa do onih nastalih u doba školovanja na Akademiji likovnih umjetnosti u Munchenu (1888. – 1893.) i kasnije svjedoče da je Mato Celestin Medović, uz dvije godine starijeg Vlaha Bukovca, bio jedan od naših najkvalitetnijih portretista i u bravuroznosti slikarske tehnike i u dubini psihološke karakterizacije koju provodi. Među djelima sakralne tematike koja većinom uključuju studije i skice, predstavljena je i rijetko izlagana slika monumentalnih dimenzija „Isus pada pod križem“ iz 1888. godine koja je originalno rađena za kapelicu dubrovačke bolnice, te nedavno restaurirana slika „Sv. Franjo Asiški“ (oko 1896.). Posebno mjesto na izložbi zauzimaju Medovićevi pelješki pejzaži čiju genezu treba tražiti i u vezanosti slikara za rodni kraj i u samoj njegovoj predestinaciji za intimnije motive. Pelješkim pejzažima prepunim svjetla, impresionističkog duktusa koji se naročito očituje u mrljastom potezu kasne pelješke faze (1914 – 1918) dao je najveći doprinos hrvatskom slikarstvu.

Izložba kojom se obilježava stogodišnjica smrti Mata Celestina Medovića, jednog od najvažnijih predstavnika hrvatskog modernog slikarstva koja je postavljena u Galeriji Dulčić Masle Pulitika produžuje se do nedjelje, 28. veljače 2021. godine.

Izložba obuhvaća djela iz zbirke Umjetničke galerije Dubrovnik – portrete, djela sakralne motivike, mrtve prirode i pejzaže, te različite studije. Žanrovska raznolikost koja karakterizira kolekciju Medovićevih djela iz Umjetničke galerije Dubrovnik zapravo odražava nikad dovoljno naglašavanu činjenicu – da je Medović bio umjetnik koji je visoke dosege ostvario u različitim poljima djelovanja – povijesnom, religijskom, portretnom i pejzažnom slikarstvu. Odabrani portreti od onih nastalih u doba Medovićeva školovanja u Italiji (1880. -1886.) pa do onih nastalih u doba školovanja na Akademiji likovnih umjetnosti u Munchenu (1888. – 1893.) i kasnije svjedoče da je Mato Celestin Medović, uz dvije godine starijeg Vlaha Bukovca, bio jedan od naših najkvalitetnijih portretista i u bravuroznosti slikarske tehnike i u dubini psihološke karakterizacije koju provodi. Među djelima sakralne tematike koja većinom uključuju studije i skice, predstavljena je i rijetko izlagana slika monumentalnih dimenzija „Isus pada pod križem“ iz 1888. godine koja je originalno rađena za kapelicu dubrovačke bolnice, te nedavno restaurirana slika „Sv. Franjo Asiški“ (oko 1896.). Posebno mjesto na izložbi zauzimaju Medovićevi pelješki pejzaži čiju genezu treba tražiti i u vezanosti slikara za rodni kraj i u samoj njegovoj predestinaciji za intimnije motive. Pelješkim pejzažima prepunim svjetla, impresionističkog duktusa koji se naročito očituje u mrljastom potezu kasne pelješke faze (1914 – 1918) dao je najveći doprinos hrvatskom slikarstvu.
