Na današnji dan 1970. godine, oko 9 sati dogodila se prometna nezgoda tramvajskim kolima br. 5. Kola su prometovala na relaciji Pile – Lapad, a u uporabi su bila od samoga početka, odnosno od 1910. kada je tramvaj pušten u redovito prometovanje.

Tramvaj je zbog starosti i dotrajalosti kolosijeka iskočio iz tračnica negdje na zavoju kod starog dubrovačkog rodilišta, te se inercijom nastavio kretati niz današnju Ulicu branitelja Dubrovnika. Pri velikoj brzini probio je lijevi ogradni zid odmah do ulaza u staru gradsku jezgru i upao u park na Pilama. U nezgodi je poginula jedna osoba, dok ih je 14 ozlijeđeno, piše voditelj Kulturno-povijesnog muzeja Dino Lokas na stranicama Dubrovačkih muzeja.

O ukidanju tramvaja razmišljalo se još početkom 60-ih godina jer se smatralo kako tramvaj ne može odgovoriti potrebama masovnog turizma. U isto vrijeme širenje grada u novim stambenim zonama i s turističkim izvangradskim objektima, neminovno povlači za sobom i potrebu promjene prometnog sustava. Prometna je nezgoda samo dodatno ubrzala ukidanje tramvaja, a s druge strane potakla razvijanje autobusnog prometa. Tramvajski je promet u potpunosti obustavljen 20. ožujka 1970.

Na današnji dan 1970. godine, oko 9 sati dogodila se prometna nezgoda tramvajskim kolima br. 5. Kola su prometovala na relaciji Pile – Lapad, a u uporabi su bila od samoga početka, odnosno od 1910. kada je tramvaj pušten u redovito prometovanje.

Tramvaj je zbog starosti i dotrajalosti kolosijeka iskočio iz tračnica negdje na zavoju kod starog dubrovačkog rodilišta, te se inercijom nastavio kretati niz današnju Ulicu branitelja Dubrovnika. Pri velikoj brzini probio je lijevi ogradni zid odmah do ulaza u staru gradsku jezgru i upao u park na Pilama. U nezgodi je poginula jedna osoba, dok ih je 14 ozlijeđeno, piše voditelj Kulturno-povijesnog muzeja Dino Lokas na stranicama Dubrovačkih muzeja.

O ukidanju tramvaja razmišljalo se još početkom 60-ih godina jer se smatralo kako tramvaj ne može odgovoriti potrebama masovnog turizma. U isto vrijeme širenje grada u novim stambenim zonama i s turističkim izvangradskim objektima, neminovno povlači za sobom i potrebu promjene prometnog sustava. Prometna je nezgoda samo dodatno ubrzala ukidanje tramvaja, a s druge strane potakla razvijanje autobusnog prometa. Tramvajski je promet u potpunosti obustavljen 20. ožujka 1970.

Prije točno 52 godine dogodila se tramvajska nesreća na Pilama koja je u konačnici ‘presudila‘ dubrovačkom ‘Žuću‘

Na današnji dan 1970. godine, oko 9 sati dogodila se prometna nezgoda tramvajskim kolima br. 5. Kola su prometovala na relaciji Pile – Lapad, a u uporabi su bila od samoga početka, odnosno od 1910. kada je tramvaj pušten u redovito prometovanje.

Tramvaj je zbog starosti i dotrajalosti kolosijeka iskočio iz tračnica negdje na zavoju kod starog dubrovačkog rodilišta, te se inercijom nastavio kretati niz današnju Ulicu branitelja Dubrovnika. Pri velikoj brzini probio je lijevi ogradni zid odmah do ulaza u staru gradsku jezgru i upao u park na Pilama. U nezgodi je poginula jedna osoba, dok ih je 14 ozlijeđeno, piše voditelj Kulturno-povijesnog muzeja Dino Lokas na stranicama Dubrovačkih muzeja.

O ukidanju tramvaja razmišljalo se još početkom 60-ih godina jer se smatralo kako tramvaj ne može odgovoriti potrebama masovnog turizma. U isto vrijeme širenje grada u novim stambenim zonama i s turističkim izvangradskim objektima, neminovno povlači za sobom i potrebu promjene prometnog sustava. Prometna je nezgoda samo dodatno ubrzala ukidanje tramvaja, a s druge strane potakla razvijanje autobusnog prometa. Tramvajski je promet u potpunosti obustavljen 20. ožujka 1970.
