Kad je ovog petka stigao na obiteljsku proslavu u Tel Aviv, Shlomi Ranot nije mogao ni sanjati da će već sutradan probuditi pod sirenama, u žarištu ratnog sukoba kakvom se nije nadao ni on ni njegovi sunarodnjaci. U telefonskom razgovoru ovaj Dubrovčanima dobro poznat izraelski poslovni čovjek iz prve nam je ruke prepričao događaje koji su ovog vikenda uzdrmali Bliski istok, ali i ostatak svijeta:

- S obitelji sam u predgrađu Tel Aviva gdje je mirno, južnije od grada padaju projektili, a Izrael zapravo još nije ni počeo s pravom odmazdom. Trenutačno nam problem predstavljaju masovne otmice izraelskih građana kojima se Arapi služe kao živim štitom. Otimaju većinom žene, djecu i starije. Moju su prvu rođakinju, bolesnu i nemoćnu senilnu ženu od 85 godina oteli iz kibuca i s dva je motocikla provozali kroz Gazu. Mnoge su taoce poredali na krovove nebodera u Gazi kako ih ne bismo raketirali – kaže nam Ranot kojega je jučerašnji napad palestinskih militanata iz Hamasa iznenadio, ali ne i začudio:

- Možete se svačemu nadati kad živite u takvom susjedstvu. Kulturi naših arapskih susjeda je svojstveno da, ako im pokažeš dobru volju i prijateljsko lice, oni to protumače kao slabost koju su spremni iskoristiti. Nažalost, da bismo bili sigurni, mi Izraelci moramo biti snažni, uvijek spremni braniti se, moramo biti i zločesti. Druga strana misli da će nas prije ili kasnije otjerati, ali tu griješe. Kad su ugroženi, Izraelci su ujedinjeni, mentalno jaki i spremni na svaku žrtvu. Ovo je naš dom i to će ostati. Uvijek kažem, ako ljudi mogu živjeti u podnožju aktivnog vulkana, možemo i mi tako. Izrael je naš vulkan, svjesni smo da svaka generacija mora podnijeti teret. Moja je podnijela rat na Jom Kipur prije 50 godina kad nas je napala koalicija arapskih država predvođena Egiptom i Sirijom. Današnja generacija, evo, trpi napade Hamasa, no izdržat ćemo – poručuje Shlomi Ranot koji predviđa da bi aktualni sukob mogao potrajati par tjedana i završiti velikim vojnim okršajem u Gazi, uskoj palestinskoj enklavi gdje na prostoru veličine Dubrovačko-neretvanske županije živi oko 2 milijuna civila.

Naš sugovornik potvrđuje da je aktualni napad Hamasa rezultat ogromnih propusta izraelskih vojnih i obavještajnih službi, no ne vjeruje da će se u njega aktivnije uključiti i Hezbolah. Riječ je o proiranskoj vojnoj i političkoj organizaciji koja djeluje u obližnjem Libanonu, a opremom i ljudstvom je deseterostruko snažnija od Hamasa.

- Da je u subotu umjesto Hamasa napao Hezbolah, bilo bi 5 tisuća žrtava. No, oni oklijevaju s napadom jer znaju da bi im Izrael odgovorio uništenjem cjelokupne infrastrukture, vratili bismo ih u kameno doba. Zasad su ispalili tek nekoliko projektila na pograničnoj području sjevernije, mislim da Hezbolah neće ići puno dalje od toga – istaknuo je izraelski poduzetnik koji u sudbini izraelskog naroda vidi dosta sličnosti s hrvatskim:

- I mi i vi smo bili napadnuti od prvih susjeda. Ova talačka kriza koja se sad kod nas događa podsjeća me malo na crnogorski napad na Konavle. Napad na civile, protjerivanje, palež kuća, teško je to – zaključuje Ranot koji je optimističan i vjeruje da će za nekoliko tjedana vratiti u Hrvatsku.

Kad je ovog petka stigao na obiteljsku proslavu u Tel Aviv, Shlomi Ranot nije mogao ni sanjati da će već sutradan probuditi pod sirenama, u žarištu ratnog sukoba kakvom se nije nadao ni on ni njegovi sunarodnjaci. U telefonskom razgovoru ovaj Dubrovčanima dobro poznat izraelski poslovni čovjek iz prve nam je ruke prepričao događaje koji su ovog vikenda uzdrmali Bliski istok, ali i ostatak svijeta:

- S obitelji sam u predgrađu Tel Aviva gdje je mirno, južnije od grada padaju projektili, a Izrael zapravo još nije ni počeo s pravom odmazdom. Trenutačno nam problem predstavljaju masovne otmice izraelskih građana kojima se Arapi služe kao živim štitom. Otimaju većinom žene, djecu i starije. Moju su prvu rođakinju, bolesnu i nemoćnu senilnu ženu od 85 godina oteli iz kibuca i s dva je motocikla provozali kroz Gazu. Mnoge su taoce poredali na krovove nebodera u Gazi kako ih ne bismo raketirali – kaže nam Ranot kojega je jučerašnji napad palestinskih militanata iz Hamasa iznenadio, ali ne i začudio:

- Možete se svačemu nadati kad živite u takvom susjedstvu. Kulturi naših arapskih susjeda je svojstveno da, ako im pokažeš dobru volju i prijateljsko lice, oni to protumače kao slabost koju su spremni iskoristiti. Nažalost, da bismo bili sigurni, mi Izraelci moramo biti snažni, uvijek spremni braniti se, moramo biti i zločesti. Druga strana misli da će nas prije ili kasnije otjerati, ali tu griješe. Kad su ugroženi, Izraelci su ujedinjeni, mentalno jaki i spremni na svaku žrtvu. Ovo je naš dom i to će ostati. Uvijek kažem, ako ljudi mogu živjeti u podnožju aktivnog vulkana, možemo i mi tako. Izrael je naš vulkan, svjesni smo da svaka generacija mora podnijeti teret. Moja je podnijela rat na Jom Kipur prije 50 godina kad nas je napala koalicija arapskih država predvođena Egiptom i Sirijom. Današnja generacija, evo, trpi napade Hamasa, no izdržat ćemo – poručuje Shlomi Ranot koji predviđa da bi aktualni sukob mogao potrajati par tjedana i završiti velikim vojnim okršajem u Gazi, uskoj palestinskoj enklavi gdje na prostoru veličine Dubrovačko-neretvanske županije živi oko 2 milijuna civila.

Naš sugovornik potvrđuje da je aktualni napad Hamasa rezultat ogromnih propusta izraelskih vojnih i obavještajnih službi, no ne vjeruje da će se u njega aktivnije uključiti i Hezbolah. Riječ je o proiranskoj vojnoj i političkoj organizaciji koja djeluje u obližnjem Libanonu, a opremom i ljudstvom je deseterostruko snažnija od Hamasa.

- Da je u subotu umjesto Hamasa napao Hezbolah, bilo bi 5 tisuća žrtava. No, oni oklijevaju s napadom jer znaju da bi im Izrael odgovorio uništenjem cjelokupne infrastrukture, vratili bismo ih u kameno doba. Zasad su ispalili tek nekoliko projektila na pograničnoj području sjevernije, mislim da Hezbolah neće ići puno dalje od toga – istaknuo je izraelski poduzetnik koji u sudbini izraelskog naroda vidi dosta sličnosti s hrvatskim:

- I mi i vi smo bili napadnuti od prvih susjeda. Ova talačka kriza koja se sad kod nas događa podsjeća me malo na crnogorski napad na Konavle. Napad na civile, protjerivanje, palež kuća, teško je to – zaključuje Ranot koji je optimističan i vjeruje da će za nekoliko tjedana vratiti u Hrvatsku.
