Latvija, baltička zemlja na granici s Rusijom, koja broji 1,9 milijuna stanovnika, strahuje da će joj se Moskva osvetiti zbog odluke o uklanjanju spomenika iz vremena Sovjetskog Saveza, a neki se pribojavaju i invazije.
Latvijski parlament je 12. svibnja usvojio odluku o uklanjaju spomenika, među kojima i divovskog u glavnom gradu Rigi. Uklanjanje bi moglo biti provedeno na jesen.
“Vjerujemo da će se Rusija pokušati osvetiti na neki način”, kaže pod uvjetom anonimnosti osoba iz ureda Europske komisije u Rigi. “Možda će oni na neki način napasti latvijske objekte, robu, hakirati stranice ili na neki drugi način uzvratiti”, dodaje za Hinu.
Rusija je prije pet mjeseci izvršila invaziju na Ukrajinu, također bivšu članicu Sovjetskog Saveza, pa se u Latviji pribojavaju oružanog sukoba i na svom teritoriju.
“Neke obitelji poput moje se pripremaju za taj scenarij. Žene i djeca bi napustili zemlju automobilima, a muškarci, od kojih su mnogi prošli neku vrstu obuke, ostali bi se boriti”, kaže isti izvor.
Latvija je, za razliku od Ukrajine, članica vojnog NATO saveza predvođenog Sjedinjenim Državama pa bi potencijalnim napadom na nju ostale članice bile obvezne intervenirati.
U srcu Rige nalazi se zgrada koja je 1970-ih godina bila arhitektonski simbol Sovjetskog Saveza, a koja je 1993. pretvorena u “Muzej okupacije”, financiran donacijama i novcem od ulaznica.
Prošli mjesec je obnovljena izložba eksponata iz 51 godine dugog razdoblja tijekom kojeg je Latvija bila dijelom Sovjetskog Saveza od 1940.-1941., potom Njemačke od 1941. do 1944. pa opet Sovjetskog Saveza od 1944. do 1991., kada je stekla samostalnost.
“Ostao je ožiljak”, kaže 38-godišnji vodič Nikolajs dok grupi posjetitelja pokazuje na zidu kartu i opis gulaga, radnih logora u Sibiru gdje su otpremani politički neistomišljenici.
Nikolajsova je baka Latvijka, a djed Rus.
Ulica ukrajinske nezavisnosti
U Latviji je 30 posto etničkih Rusa, od kojih su mnogi potomci radnika koji su se doseljavali ondje iz drugih dijelova Sovjetskog Saveza nakon Drugog svjetskog rata.
Neki od njih svakog svibnja, na dan pobjede nad nacističkom Njemačkom, donose cvijeće podno spomenika. Rusko veleposlanstvo u Rigi obično organizira manifestacije na taj dan.
No zgradu ruskog veleposlanstva ovih dana čuvaju tri policijska vozila, danju i noću.
Ulicu u kojoj se nalazi veleposlanstvo gradske vlasti su preimenovale u “Ulicu ukrajinske nezavisnosti”. Na zidu nasuprot zgrade oslikan je ruski predsjednik Vladimir Putin s mrtvačkom glavom, a okolo se nižu ukrajinske zastave i pozivi na zaustavljanje rata.
Latvija istovremeno povećava izdatke za naoružanje.
“Već smo prešli 2 posto BDP-a u tu svrhu te idemo prema 2,5 posto”, rekao je latvijski premijer Krišjanis Karinš. “Mi povećavamo izdatke, a povećavaju ih i naši partneri u NATO-u. S ljudstvom, opremom i sposobnošću nalazimo se na sigurnom teritoriju”, dodao je prošli mjesec u Rigi.
Nikolajs nastavlja pokazivati eksponate u “Muzeju okupacije”, gdje posljednjih tjedana prođe oko 200 posjetitelja dnevno.
Među eksponatima je bijela majica s crvenom bojom nacrtanima tenkom te srpom i čekićem na kojoj piše: “Rusija – svjetska turneja. Od 1944. do danas.”
“Ljudi vide sličnost tadašnjeg vremena sa današnjim. Vjerujemo da će broj posjetitelja rasti”, kaže Nikolajs.

Latvija, baltička zemlja na granici s Rusijom, koja broji 1,9 milijuna stanovnika, strahuje da će joj se Moskva osvetiti zbog odluke o uklanjanju spomenika iz vremena Sovjetskog Saveza, a neki se pribojavaju i invazije.
Latvijski parlament je 12. svibnja usvojio odluku o uklanjaju spomenika, među kojima i divovskog u glavnom gradu Rigi. Uklanjanje bi moglo biti provedeno na jesen.
“Vjerujemo da će se Rusija pokušati osvetiti na neki način”, kaže pod uvjetom anonimnosti osoba iz ureda Europske komisije u Rigi. “Možda će oni na neki način napasti latvijske objekte, robu, hakirati stranice ili na neki drugi način uzvratiti”, dodaje za Hinu.
Rusija je prije pet mjeseci izvršila invaziju na Ukrajinu, također bivšu članicu Sovjetskog Saveza, pa se u Latviji pribojavaju oružanog sukoba i na svom teritoriju.
“Neke obitelji poput moje se pripremaju za taj scenarij. Žene i djeca bi napustili zemlju automobilima, a muškarci, od kojih su mnogi prošli neku vrstu obuke, ostali bi se boriti”, kaže isti izvor.
Latvija je, za razliku od Ukrajine, članica vojnog NATO saveza predvođenog Sjedinjenim Državama pa bi potencijalnim napadom na nju ostale članice bile obvezne intervenirati.
U srcu Rige nalazi se zgrada koja je 1970-ih godina bila arhitektonski simbol Sovjetskog Saveza, a koja je 1993. pretvorena u “Muzej okupacije”, financiran donacijama i novcem od ulaznica.
Prošli mjesec je obnovljena izložba eksponata iz 51 godine dugog razdoblja tijekom kojeg je Latvija bila dijelom Sovjetskog Saveza od 1940.-1941., potom Njemačke od 1941. do 1944. pa opet Sovjetskog Saveza od 1944. do 1991., kada je stekla samostalnost.
“Ostao je ožiljak”, kaže 38-godišnji vodič Nikolajs dok grupi posjetitelja pokazuje na zidu kartu i opis gulaga, radnih logora u Sibiru gdje su otpremani politički neistomišljenici.
Nikolajsova je baka Latvijka, a djed Rus.
Ulica ukrajinske nezavisnosti
U Latviji je 30 posto etničkih Rusa, od kojih su mnogi potomci radnika koji su se doseljavali ondje iz drugih dijelova Sovjetskog Saveza nakon Drugog svjetskog rata.
Neki od njih svakog svibnja, na dan pobjede nad nacističkom Njemačkom, donose cvijeće podno spomenika. Rusko veleposlanstvo u Rigi obično organizira manifestacije na taj dan.
No zgradu ruskog veleposlanstva ovih dana čuvaju tri policijska vozila, danju i noću.
Ulicu u kojoj se nalazi veleposlanstvo gradske vlasti su preimenovale u “Ulicu ukrajinske nezavisnosti”. Na zidu nasuprot zgrade oslikan je ruski predsjednik Vladimir Putin s mrtvačkom glavom, a okolo se nižu ukrajinske zastave i pozivi na zaustavljanje rata.
Latvija istovremeno povećava izdatke za naoružanje.
“Već smo prešli 2 posto BDP-a u tu svrhu te idemo prema 2,5 posto”, rekao je latvijski premijer Krišjanis Karinš. “Mi povećavamo izdatke, a povećavaju ih i naši partneri u NATO-u. S ljudstvom, opremom i sposobnošću nalazimo se na sigurnom teritoriju”, dodao je prošli mjesec u Rigi.
Nikolajs nastavlja pokazivati eksponate u “Muzeju okupacije”, gdje posljednjih tjedana prođe oko 200 posjetitelja dnevno.
Među eksponatima je bijela majica s crvenom bojom nacrtanima tenkom te srpom i čekićem na kojoj piše: “Rusija – svjetska turneja. Od 1944. do danas.”
“Ljudi vide sličnost tadašnjeg vremena sa današnjim. Vjerujemo da će broj posjetitelja rasti”, kaže Nikolajs.
