Kapi za oči mogu biti smrtonosne, upozorio je američki Centar za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC).
Dosad je otkriveno 68 Amerikanaca u 16 saveznih država s nizom simptoma koje je prouzročila rijetka bakterija Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Većina pacijenata koji su se javili liječniku zbog bola u očima, iscjetka, crvenila, zamućenog vida i drugih simptoma koristila je kapi za oči i umjetne suze, objavio je CDC.
Jedna osoba je umrla, osmero ih je oslijepilo, a liječnici su kod četiri osobe morali kirurški ukloniti oči, piše Jutarnji.
Za deset različitih vrsti kapi za oči prvotno se sumnjalo da su uzrok tegoba.
U siječnju je CDC upozorio ljude da prestanu koristiti umjetne suze EzriCare i Delsam Pharma. U veljači je Global Pharma, kompanija koja proizvodi te dvije vrste kapi za oči, objavila da povlači proizvode s polica, nakon službene preporuke američke Uprave za hranu i lijekove (FDA).
Prošli tjedan FDA je objavila povlačenje s polica kapi za oči koje distribuiraju i druge dvije kompanije, Pharmedica i Apotex.
Bakterije u bočicama
Testiranjem su pronađene bakterije u bočicama koje su koristili pacijenti s upalom.
Trenutačno se testiraju druge, neotvorene bočice kako bi se utvrdilo je li došlo do kontaminacije bakterijom tijekom procesa proizvodnje.
Riječ je o američkim kompanijama s proizvodnjom u Indiji.
Prošlog je tjedna jedna žena na Floridi tužila proizvođača, nakon što su joj liječnici zbog jake upale morali ukloniti jedno oko. Njezina odvjetnica Natasha Cortes vjeruje da ima puno više onih koji su bili zaraženi, a da nisu ni svjesni. Za NBC News rekla je da je vjerojatni krivac nedostatak konzervansa u kapima za oči.
Američki zavod za javno zdravstvo CDC pozvao je sve koji su koristili povučene kapi za oči pa sada imaju simptome da posjete svoga liječnika.
Među simptomima su, kako prenosi BBC, žuti, zeleni ili bistri iscjedak iz oka, nelagoda ili bol, crvenilo, zamagljen vid i povećana osjetljivost na svjetlost.
Kapi za oči i proizvode za ispiranje očiju u 2020. koristilo je približno 117 milijuna Amerikanaca, navodi BBC, pozivajući se na tvrtku za istraživanje tržišta Statistu.

Kapi za oči mogu biti smrtonosne, upozorio je američki Centar za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC).
Dosad je otkriveno 68 Amerikanaca u 16 saveznih država s nizom simptoma koje je prouzročila rijetka bakterija Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Većina pacijenata koji su se javili liječniku zbog bola u očima, iscjetka, crvenila, zamućenog vida i drugih simptoma koristila je kapi za oči i umjetne suze, objavio je CDC.
Jedna osoba je umrla, osmero ih je oslijepilo, a liječnici su kod četiri osobe morali kirurški ukloniti oči, piše Jutarnji.
Za deset različitih vrsti kapi za oči prvotno se sumnjalo da su uzrok tegoba.
U siječnju je CDC upozorio ljude da prestanu koristiti umjetne suze EzriCare i Delsam Pharma. U veljači je Global Pharma, kompanija koja proizvodi te dvije vrste kapi za oči, objavila da povlači proizvode s polica, nakon službene preporuke američke Uprave za hranu i lijekove (FDA).
Prošli tjedan FDA je objavila povlačenje s polica kapi za oči koje distribuiraju i druge dvije kompanije, Pharmedica i Apotex.
Bakterije u bočicama
Testiranjem su pronađene bakterije u bočicama koje su koristili pacijenti s upalom.
Trenutačno se testiraju druge, neotvorene bočice kako bi se utvrdilo je li došlo do kontaminacije bakterijom tijekom procesa proizvodnje.
Riječ je o američkim kompanijama s proizvodnjom u Indiji.
Prošlog je tjedna jedna žena na Floridi tužila proizvođača, nakon što su joj liječnici zbog jake upale morali ukloniti jedno oko. Njezina odvjetnica Natasha Cortes vjeruje da ima puno više onih koji su bili zaraženi, a da nisu ni svjesni. Za NBC News rekla je da je vjerojatni krivac nedostatak konzervansa u kapima za oči.
Američki zavod za javno zdravstvo CDC pozvao je sve koji su koristili povučene kapi za oči pa sada imaju simptome da posjete svoga liječnika.
Među simptomima su, kako prenosi BBC, žuti, zeleni ili bistri iscjedak iz oka, nelagoda ili bol, crvenilo, zamagljen vid i povećana osjetljivost na svjetlost.
