S tri tjedna zakašnjenja, u jeku božićnih filmskih rapsodija, u domaća se kina ušuljao uljez. Horor ‘Thanksgiving‘ tematizira osvetnički pokolj uz Dan zahvalnosti, jedan od najvažnijih američkih praznika kroz godinu. Koristeći se dijelom slavljeničkom atmosferom kao kulisom za zločin i površno grebući po povijesti prvih doseljenika u SAD-a, ovaj slasher izaziva gledatelja nizanjem prenaglašenih prizora nasilja.

Količinom krvi i skršenih vitalnih organa žrtava teško je usporediv s bilo kojim od starijih žanrovskih rođaka, dok ga s poznatijim ‘Vriskom‘ povezuje hiperaktivni manijak pod maskom. Ovaj je, istini za volju, nešto sofisticiraniji kad je izbor krabulje posrijedi, besprizorno ubija skriven pod krinkom Johna Carvera, guvernera u prvim naseobinama Istočne obale 17. stoljeća.

Redatelj Eli Roth, iskusan autor horora (Hostel, Zeleni pakao), ujedno i koscenarist ‘Thanksgivinga‘, smišljeno je umijesio tijesto od općih mjesta filmova strave. Napučio je fabulu ljudima čija je sudbina unaprijed zapečaćena, pobrinuo se za neočekivanu završnicu, a neka od umorstava, poput skroz nekonvencionalnog pečenja blagdanske purice, toliko su bizarna da ih naprosto morate zapamtiti.

A kad ogolite sve slojeve horora, na površinu izlazi oštra kritika aktualnom konzumerizmu u svom najčišćem obliku. Bjesomučan lov na popuste, sebičnost i neosjetljivost na tuđu patnju u ‘Thanksgivingu‘ ne mogu proći nekažnjeno. Pogotovo ako se netko koristi ljudskim manama za stjecanje popularnosti na društvenim mrežama, toga će prije ili kasnije sustići ruka ‘pravednika‘ Carvera. U svom hororu Roth slijedi uhodani obrazac i kod kreiranja likova.

Glavni zlikovac vješto izmiče pravdi i ‘tamani‘ maturante koji su zastranili, mladi su uglavnom nepromišljeni i potrošni, a stariji opsjednuti glamurom. Nekoliko uloga s potencijalom (zamjenik šerifa, dečko glavne junakinje, skromni školarac esejist) do kraja radnje izgubi se u vrtlogu zločina dok nositelji glavnih uloga s promjenjivom dosljednošću iznose radnju.

Glumačku postavu predvodi Patrick Dempsey: šarmantni doktor iz ‘Uvoda u anatomiju‘, ovdje je bijelu kutu zamijenio uniformom šerifa iz provincije, no nastup sa značkom umjesto stetoskopa nije mu prošao osobito dojmljivo. Pred kamerom djeluje pomalo uštogljeno, na donjoj granici uvjerljivosti.

Još gore se provela nekoć prilično popularna Gina Gershon (Showgirls) koju samo kratka minutaža spašava od potpunog urušavanja stečenog ugleda. ‘Thanksgivingu‘ se mnogošto može prigovoriti, ali ne i neoriginalnost ključne scene koja se odvrti u prvoj trećini filma. Scene stampeda u jednom shopping centru na početku sezone rasprodaja mučne su i duboko uznemirujuće, u tolikoj mjeri da će nakon odgledanog filma poneki lakomi potrošač omrznuti i sam spomen Crnog petka.

Ako ‘Thanksgiving‘ s odgodom i ne postane horor klasik, sigurno će steći određeni status među protivnicima manijakalne kupnje kakvih ne manjka i izvan blagdanske sezone. A mogao bi taknuti u žicu i mrzitelje skupljača likeova na najneprimjerenijim mogućim mjestima.

S tri tjedna zakašnjenja, u jeku božićnih filmskih rapsodija, u domaća se kina ušuljao uljez. Horor ‘Thanksgiving‘ tematizira osvetnički pokolj uz Dan zahvalnosti, jedan od najvažnijih američkih praznika kroz godinu. Koristeći se dijelom slavljeničkom atmosferom kao kulisom za zločin i površno grebući po povijesti prvih doseljenika u SAD-a, ovaj slasher izaziva gledatelja nizanjem prenaglašenih prizora nasilja.

Količinom krvi i skršenih vitalnih organa žrtava teško je usporediv s bilo kojim od starijih žanrovskih rođaka, dok ga s poznatijim ‘Vriskom‘ povezuje hiperaktivni manijak pod maskom. Ovaj je, istini za volju, nešto sofisticiraniji kad je izbor krabulje posrijedi, besprizorno ubija skriven pod krinkom Johna Carvera, guvernera u prvim naseobinama Istočne obale 17. stoljeća.

Redatelj Eli Roth, iskusan autor horora (Hostel, Zeleni pakao), ujedno i koscenarist ‘Thanksgivinga‘, smišljeno je umijesio tijesto od općih mjesta filmova strave. Napučio je fabulu ljudima čija je sudbina unaprijed zapečaćena, pobrinuo se za neočekivanu završnicu, a neka od umorstava, poput skroz nekonvencionalnog pečenja blagdanske purice, toliko su bizarna da ih naprosto morate zapamtiti.

A kad ogolite sve slojeve horora, na površinu izlazi oštra kritika aktualnom konzumerizmu u svom najčišćem obliku. Bjesomučan lov na popuste, sebičnost i neosjetljivost na tuđu patnju u ‘Thanksgivingu‘ ne mogu proći nekažnjeno. Pogotovo ako se netko koristi ljudskim manama za stjecanje popularnosti na društvenim mrežama, toga će prije ili kasnije sustići ruka ‘pravednika‘ Carvera. U svom hororu Roth slijedi uhodani obrazac i kod kreiranja likova.

Glavni zlikovac vješto izmiče pravdi i ‘tamani‘ maturante koji su zastranili, mladi su uglavnom nepromišljeni i potrošni, a stariji opsjednuti glamurom. Nekoliko uloga s potencijalom (zamjenik šerifa, dečko glavne junakinje, skromni školarac esejist) do kraja radnje izgubi se u vrtlogu zločina dok nositelji glavnih uloga s promjenjivom dosljednošću iznose radnju.

Glumačku postavu predvodi Patrick Dempsey: šarmantni doktor iz ‘Uvoda u anatomiju‘, ovdje je bijelu kutu zamijenio uniformom šerifa iz provincije, no nastup sa značkom umjesto stetoskopa nije mu prošao osobito dojmljivo. Pred kamerom djeluje pomalo uštogljeno, na donjoj granici uvjerljivosti.

Još gore se provela nekoć prilično popularna Gina Gershon (Showgirls) koju samo kratka minutaža spašava od potpunog urušavanja stečenog ugleda. ‘Thanksgivingu‘ se mnogošto može prigovoriti, ali ne i neoriginalnost ključne scene koja se odvrti u prvoj trećini filma. Scene stampeda u jednom shopping centru na početku sezone rasprodaja mučne su i duboko uznemirujuće, u tolikoj mjeri da će nakon odgledanog filma poneki lakomi potrošač omrznuti i sam spomen Crnog petka.

Ako ‘Thanksgiving‘ s odgodom i ne postane horor klasik, sigurno će steći određeni status među protivnicima manijakalne kupnje kakvih ne manjka i izvan blagdanske sezone. A mogao bi taknuti u žicu i mrzitelje skupljača likeova na najneprimjerenijim mogućim mjestima.
