Troje ljudi u Britaniji zaraženo je infekcijom koja se po prvi put proširila među psima u Velikoj Britaniji. Brucella canis, bakterijska infekcija, neizlječiva je bolest kod pasa i može dovesti do neplodnosti, problema s hodanjem i boli kod ovih životinja, prenosi Jutarnji list.

Britanska agencija za zdravstvenu sigurnost sada je potvrdila da su se tri Britanca zarazila bolešću od svojih životinja, što su prvi takvi slučajevi ikada otkriveni u toj zemlji. Osim toga, shvatili su i da se bolest vrlo brzo širi među životinjama.

Kad je prvi put Brucella pronađena u toj zemlji 2020. godine, zabilježeno je devet slučajeva. Iduće godine bilo ih je 36, a potom i 55. No, situacija je ove godine daleko ozbiljnija, jer je potvrđeno da je 91 pas inficiran. Na početku se radilo samo o psima koji su došli iz područja istočne Europe, uglavnom iz Rumunjske, no sad se više ne radi samo o njima.

Dr. Christine Middlemiss, glavna veterinarska službenica u Odjelu za okoliš, hranu i ruralna pitanja (DEFRA), rekla je za The Telegraph da je došlo do prijenosa zaraze s jednog psa na drugog i to na tlu Velike Britanije.

- To se dogodilo u uzgajivačnicama. Nema puno takvih slučajeva, ali ovo je svakako novi moment - istaknula je Middlemiss.

Slučajevi Brucella canis porijeklom iz Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva potječu od britanskih pasa koji su bili u kontaktu s uvezenim psom ili su bili potomci uvezenog psa. To znači da se bolest ne smatra endemskom u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu i još uvijek je službeno klasificirana kao niskorizična. Ljudi jesu izloženi riziku od ove bolesti, ali se on još uvijek smatra niskim.

Što se tiče oboljelih, prva je zaraza otkrivena kod osobe koja se nije osjećala dobro, pa je u bolnici testirana. U drugom se slučaju radi o osobi koja radi u veterinarskoj ambulanti i koja je rutinski testirana nakon kontakta sa zaraženim psom, premda nije imala nikakve simptome. Općenito ova bakterija nije opasna, no može biti za one koji imaju oslabljen imunitet.

Preporučuje se uzgajivačima pasa i organizacijama koje udomljavaju pse iz inozemstva da životinje obvezno testiraju. Vlada razmatra da se za potonju skupinu obvezno uvede testiranje, kaže Middlemiss.

- Prikupljamo dokaze, razne procjene rizika koje pridonose tim dokazima i razmotrit ćemo ih - rekla je.

Iako infekcija bakterijom Brucella canis nije smrtna presuda za životinje, za nju nema lijeka i pas će je nositi doživotno. Može se antibioticima držati pod kontrolom, ali zapravo se ne može puno toga napraviti. Zaraza se širi kontaktom s tjelesnim tekućinama. Zato su najviše ugroženi veterinari i uzgajivači.

Što se ljudi tiče, simptomi infekcije su nalik onima koje nosi gripa. Brucella canis rijetko uzrokuje ozbiljne bolesti, ali su zabilježeni slučajevi opasnih infekcija srca, kostiju, moždanog tkiva i krvi kod ljudi. Ipak, u medicinskoj literaturi nije zabilježen nijedan smrtni slučaj. Kod ljudi se bolest često liječi antibioticima i, iako je teoretski moguće, nema poznatih slučajeva prijenosa s čovjeka na čovjeka.

Troje ljudi u Britaniji zaraženo je infekcijom koja se po prvi put proširila među psima u Velikoj Britaniji. Brucella canis, bakterijska infekcija, neizlječiva je bolest kod pasa i može dovesti do neplodnosti, problema s hodanjem i boli kod ovih životinja, prenosi Jutarnji list.

Britanska agencija za zdravstvenu sigurnost sada je potvrdila da su se tri Britanca zarazila bolešću od svojih životinja, što su prvi takvi slučajevi ikada otkriveni u toj zemlji. Osim toga, shvatili su i da se bolest vrlo brzo širi među životinjama.

Kad je prvi put Brucella pronađena u toj zemlji 2020. godine, zabilježeno je devet slučajeva. Iduće godine bilo ih je 36, a potom i 55. No, situacija je ove godine daleko ozbiljnija, jer je potvrđeno da je 91 pas inficiran. Na početku se radilo samo o psima koji su došli iz područja istočne Europe, uglavnom iz Rumunjske, no sad se više ne radi samo o njima.

Dr. Christine Middlemiss, glavna veterinarska službenica u Odjelu za okoliš, hranu i ruralna pitanja (DEFRA), rekla je za The Telegraph da je došlo do prijenosa zaraze s jednog psa na drugog i to na tlu Velike Britanije.

- To se dogodilo u uzgajivačnicama. Nema puno takvih slučajeva, ali ovo je svakako novi moment - istaknula je Middlemiss.

Slučajevi Brucella canis porijeklom iz Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva potječu od britanskih pasa koji su bili u kontaktu s uvezenim psom ili su bili potomci uvezenog psa. To znači da se bolest ne smatra endemskom u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu i još uvijek je službeno klasificirana kao niskorizična. Ljudi jesu izloženi riziku od ove bolesti, ali se on još uvijek smatra niskim.

Što se tiče oboljelih, prva je zaraza otkrivena kod osobe koja se nije osjećala dobro, pa je u bolnici testirana. Iako infekcija bakterijom Brucella canis nije smrtna presuda za životinje, za nju nema lijeka i pas će je nositi doživotno. Može se antibioticima držati pod kontrolom, ali zapravo se ne može puno toga napraviti. Zaraza se širi kontaktom s tjelesnim tekućinama. Zato su najviše ugroženi veterinari i uzgajivači.

Što se ljudi tiče, simptomi infekcije su nalik onima koje nosi gripa. Brucella canis rijetko uzrokuje ozbiljne bolesti, ali su zabilježeni slučajevi opasnih infekcija srca, kostiju, moždanog tkiva i krvi kod ljudi. Ipak, u medicinskoj literaturi nije zabilježen nijedan smrtni slučaj. Kod ljudi se bolest često liječi antibioticima i, iako je teoretski moguće, nema poznatih slučajeva prijenosa s čovjeka na čovjeka.

Bolest s istoka Europe munjevito se širi među psima, zaraženi i vlasnici: Simptomi nisu nimalo bezazleni!

Troje ljudi u Britaniji zaraženo je infekcijom koja se po prvi put proširila među psima u Velikoj Britaniji. Brucella canis, bakterijska infekcija, neizlječiva je bolest kod pasa i može dovesti do neplodnosti, problema s hodanjem i boli kod ovih životinja, prenosi Jutarnji list.

Britanska agencija za zdravstvenu sigurnost sada je potvrdila da su se tri Britanca zarazila bolešću od svojih životinja, što su prvi takvi slučajevi ikada otkriveni u toj zemlji. Osim toga, shvatili su i da se bolest vrlo brzo širi među životinjama.

Kad je prvi put Brucella pronađena u toj zemlji 2020. godine, zabilježeno je devet slučajeva. Iduće godine bilo ih je 36, a potom i 55. No, situacija je ove godine daleko ozbiljnija, jer je potvrđeno da je 91 pas inficiran. Na početku se radilo samo o psima koji su došli iz područja istočne Europe, uglavnom iz Rumunjske, no sad se više ne radi samo o njima.

Dr. Christine Middlemiss, glavna veterinarska službenica u Odjelu za okoliš, hranu i ruralna pitanja (DEFRA), rekla je za The Telegraph da je došlo do prijenosa zaraze s jednog psa na drugog i to na tlu Velike Britanije.

- To se dogodilo u uzgajivačnicama. Nema puno takvih slučajeva, ali ovo je svakako novi moment - istaknula je Middlemiss.

Slučajevi Brucella canis porijeklom iz Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva potječu od britanskih pasa koji su bili u kontaktu s uvezenim psom ili su bili potomci uvezenog psa. To znači da se bolest ne smatra endemskom u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu i još uvijek je službeno klasificirana kao niskorizična. Ljudi jesu izloženi riziku od ove bolesti, ali se on još uvijek smatra niskim.

Što se tiče oboljelih, prva je zaraza otkrivena kod osobe koja se nije osjećala dobro, pa je u bolnici testirana.
