Glavni tajnik Ujedinjenih naroda Antonio Guterres rekao je da zemlje u razvoju plaćaju "strašnu cijenu" zbog ovisnosti svijeta o fosilnim gorivima dok je obilazio dijelove Pakistana pogođene poplavama koje su posljedica klimatskih promjena.
Blizu 1400 ljudi poginulo je u poplavama koje su progutale trećinu zemlje - prostor veličine Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva - uništavajući usjeve, domove, poslovne prostore, ceste i mostove.
"Iz Islamabada objavljujem apel svijetu: Zaustavite ludilo. Ulažite sada u obnovljivu energiju. Okončajte rat s prirodom", poručio je Guterres.
U Pakistanu uobičajeno padaju obilne, često razorne, kiše u monsunskoj sezoni, koja je ključna za poljoprivredu i opskrbu vodom.
Ali tako intenzivni pljuskovi kao ove godine nisu bili viđeni desetljećima.
‘Ludost i samoubojstvo‘
Guterres se u petak požalio na nedostatak pozornosti koju svijet posvećuje klimatskim promjenama - posebice industrijaliziranih država koje znanstvenici okrivljuju.

Pakistan je odgovoran za manje od jedan posto globalnih emisija stakleničkih plinova, ali je osmi na popisu zemalja najosjetljivijih na ekstremne vremenske uvjete uzrokovane klimatskim promjenama koji je sastavila nevladina organizacija Germanwatch.
Guterres u subotu obilazi dijelove juga pogođene poplavama, a posjetit će i Mohendžo-daro, stoljećima staru svjetsku baštinu UNESCO-a kojoj prijeti potop.
Oko 33 milijuna ljudi pogođeno je poplavama, u kojima je uništeno oko dva milijuna domova i poslovnih prostora, odneseno 7000 kilometara cesta i srušeno 500 mostova.
Učinak jake kiše bio je dvostruk - razorne bujične poplave na planinskom sjeveru i spora akumulacija vode u južnim ravnicama.
"Ako dođe i vidi nas, Alah će ga blagosloviti", rekla je Rozina Solangi, 30-godišnja domaćica iz poplavljenog sela u blizini Sukura, za AFP u petak.
"Sva djeca, muškarci i žene prže se na ovoj vrućini. Nemamo što jesti, nema krova nad glavom. Pa mora učiniti nešto za nas jadne", rekla je.
Meteorološki ured kaže da je u Pakistanu 2022. palo pet puta više kiše nego što je uobičajeno. Padidan, mali grad u pokrajini Sindu, natopljen je s više od 1,8 metra kiše od početka monsuna u lipnju.
Budući da su zajedno zbijeni ljudi i stoka, kampovima prijeti izbijanje bolesti, s brojnim prijavljenim slučajevima denga groznice koju prenose komarci, kao i šuge.

Glavni tajnik Ujedinjenih naroda Antonio Guterres rekao je da zemlje u razvoju plaćaju "strašnu cijenu" zbog ovisnosti svijeta o fosilnim gorivima dok je obilazio dijelove Pakistana pogođene poplavama koje su posljedica klimatskih promjena.
Blizu 1400 ljudi poginulo je u poplavama koje su progutale trećinu zemlje - prostor veličine Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva - uništavajući usjeve, domove, poslovne prostore, ceste i mostove.
"Iz Islamabada objavljujem apel svijetu: Zaustavite ludilo. Ulažite sada u obnovljivu energiju. Okončajte rat s prirodom", poručio je Guterres.
U Pakistanu uobičajeno padaju obilne, često razorne, kiše u monsunskoj sezoni, koja je ključna za poljoprivredu i opskrbu vodom.
Ali tako intenzivni pljuskovi kao ove godine nisu bili viđeni desetljećima.
‘Ludost i samoubojstvo‘
Guterres se u petak požalio na nedostatak pozornosti koju svijet posvećuje klimatskim promjenama - posebice industrijaliziranih država koje znanstvenici okrivljuju.

Pakistan je odgovoran za manje od jedan posto globalnih emisija stakleničkih plinova, ali je osmi na popisu zemalja najosjetljivijih na ekstremne vremenske uvjete uzrokovane klimatskim promjenama koji je sastavila nevladina organizacija Germanwatch.
Guterres u subotu obilazi dijelove juga pogođene poplavama, a posjetit će i Mohendžo-daro, stoljećima staru svjetsku baštinu UNESCO-a kojoj prijeti potop.
Oko 33 milijuna ljudi pogođeno je poplavama, u kojima je uništeno oko dva milijuna domova i poslovnih prostora, odneseno 7000 kilometara cesta i srušeno 500 mostova.
Učinak jake kiše bio je dvostruk - razorne bujične poplave na planinskom sjeveru i spora akumulacija vode u južnim ravnicama.
"Ako dođe i vidi nas, Alah će ga blagosloviti", rekla je Rozina Solangi, 30-godišnja domaćica iz poplavljenog sela u blizini Sukura, za AFP u petak.
"Sva djeca, muškarci i žene prže se na ovoj vrućini. Nemamo što jesti, nema krova nad glavom. Pa mora učiniti nešto za nas jadne", rekla je.
Meteorološki ured kaže da je u Pakistanu 2022. palo pet puta više kiše nego što je uobičajeno. Padidan, mali grad u pokrajini Sindu, natopljen je s više od 1,8 metra kiše od početka monsuna u lipnju.
Budući da su zajedno zbijeni ljudi i stoka, kampovima prijeti izbijanje bolesti, s brojnim prijavljenim slučajevima denga groznice koju prenose komarci, kao i šuge.
