Odjeća koja se pojavi u filmu zna stvoriti neizbrisive trenutke u pop kulturi koji mogu mijenjati tijek mode više od ičega drugoga osim možda ulice i undergrounda. Često se ipak ispostavlja da mogućnosti koje filmski mediji pruža ostaju neiskorištene. Čak i ako se radi o filmovima koji se bave prošlim periodima, kostimi znaju biti bezlični čak i krivo napravljeni. Uz malu pomoć Prade, film 'The United States vs. Billie Holiday' neće propustiti svoju priliku da ostavi svoj modni trag sudeći po onome što smo do sada imali prilike vidjeti.

Film Oscarom nagrađenog redatelja Leeja Danielsa govori o sukobu Federalnog ureda za narkotike i jazz pjevačice Billie Holiday protiv koje je pokrenuo istragu. Jasno je već iz foršpana da će se film baviti njenom ovisnošću, ali i stvarnim razlozima istrage, a to je osnaživanje crnaca kroz njene pjesme koje su vlasti smatrale ozbiljnom opasnošću. U filmu Holiday glumi kantautorica Andra Day nominirana za nagradu Grammy, koja će rekreirati čaroliju jazz dive na sceni, noseći pritom i savršene kostime u njezinome stilu. ⠀⠀

Prada je dobila zadatak da kreira devet kostima za mladu glumicu, a u autorskom timu našli su se i Paolo Nieddu , kostimograf Danielsovog 'Empirea' i scenaristica Suzan-Lori Parks , prva Afroamerikanka koja je 2002. godine osvojila Pulitzerovu nagradu za dramu.

Muccia Prada nije stranac u filmskom svijetu, već i prije posuđivala je svoje vještine produkcijama, međutim te prošle suradnje osiguravale su joj određen stupanj slobode jer se uvijek do sada bavila izmišljenim likovima. Sada, kad je riječ o biografskom filmu i to o pjevačici čiji je izgled dobro dokumentiran pred sobom ima teži izazov. Kako osigurati da će se odati pravi hommage modnoj ikoni tako da se vjerno prikaže njen stil, a pritom je ne samo dosadno precrtati?

Za razliku od recimo, izmišljene Daisy Buchanan iz 'The Grat Gatsbyja', čiji kostimi nisu bili opterećeni povijesnom točnošću, za 'Billie' su se referencirali komadi iz stvarne garderobe pjevačice, ali pomiješani s elementima iz Pradine arhive kako bi se postigao osjećaj suvremenosti. S filmom smještenim u četrdesete i pedesete godine, nije bilo teško naći komade u arhivi s obzirom na to da se dizajnerica često referira upravo na ta dva desetljeća u svojim kreacijama.

Jedan od najpoznatijih lookova Billie Holiday, crno-bijela 'broderie anglaise' haljina koju je nosila 1947. godine, ažurirana je grafičkim prslukom i čipkom iz Pradine kolekcije za proljeće - ljeto 2012. Kako bi filmsku varijaciju učinili što zabavnijom, ukrasni luk s originala premješten je na struk. Neke su kombinacije bile jednostavnije, poput brokatne haljine spuštenih ramena koju je Holiday nosila 1954. Materijal iz stil izvučeni su iz ljetne kolekcije 2018. i prilagođeni krojem periodu kojem u filmu pripadaju.
Za sada uživamo u traileru i željno išćekujemo proljeće koje je tu brže nego što nam se čini.

Odjeća koja se pojavi u filmu zna stvoriti neizbrisive trenutke u pop kulturi koji mogu mijenjati tijek mode više od ičega drugoga osim možda ulice i undergrounda. Film Oscarom nagrađenog redatelja Leeja Danielsa govori o sukobu Federalnog ureda za narkotike i jazz pjevačice Billie Holiday protiv koje je pokrenuo istragu. Jedan od najpoznatijih lookova Billie Holiday, crno-bijela 'broderie anglaise' haljina koju je nosila 1947. godine, ažurirana je grafičkim prslukom i čipkom iz Pradine kolekcije za proljeće - ljeto 2012. Kako bi filmsku varijaciju učinili što zabavnijom, ukrasni luk s originala premješten je na struk. Neke su kombinacije bile jednostavnije, poput brokatne haljine spuštenih ramena koju je Holiday nosila 1954. Materijal iz stil izvučeni su iz ljetne kolekcije 2018. i prilagođeni krojem periodu kojem u filmu pripadaju.
Za sada uživamo u traileru i željno išćekujemo proljeće koje je tu brže nego što nam se čini.
