Amazon se specijalizirao za antologijske serije koje su nalik omnibus filmovima pa je nakon "Modern Love" i "Solos" netom plasirao i "Modern Love 2". Sigurno znate što taj termin podrazumijeva: više epizoda okupljenih pod zajedničkom temom.

U slučaju "Modern Love", serije inspirirane istoimenom kolumnom "New York Timesa", tema je istaknuta u naslovu. Dakle, moderna ljubav.

Prva sezona nije uspjela odgovoriti na pitanje što je to "moderna ljubav", makar se trudila, a i "Modern Love 2" ne dobacuje puno dalje od prethodnika u čijem je približnom "gledljivo-i-zaboravljivo" dometu.

Ponovno imamo osam epizoda krajnje neravnomjernih u kvaliteti, gotovo sve vrste ljubavi načelno podatne za gledateljsku identifikaciju i više-manje zvučnu glumačku ekipu (Minnie Driver, Lucy Boynton, Kit Harrington, Garrett Hedlund, Anna Paquin).

I ponovno imamo nekoliko jako lijepih vinjetica, ali nažalost prednjače osrednje-prosječne ili slabije epizode za instant zaborav, dok kemija među ljubavnicima nije uvijek opipljiva i lišava seriju pravog emotivnog angažmana s obje strane ekrana, naročito ove naše.

Ljubavi nedostaje autentičnosti u "Modern Love 2", ako ne i iskrenosti. Naravno, teško je ljubavnicima postići "klik" u nekih 30-ak minuta, jednako kao kreatoru serije (još jednom John Carney) i glumcima da razviju likove i situacije u tako kratkom roku.

To se događa ravno tri puta u seriji, i to u prvoj, trećoj i osmoj epizodi koje kao redatelj potpisuje upravo Carney, poznat po krasnim filmskim glazbenim romansama "Jednom", "Pjesma koja ljubav znači" i "Raspjevana ulica", eventualno još u šestoj Johna Crawleyja ("Brooklyn", "Češljugar").

Prva epizoda "On a Serpentine Road, With the Top Down" predstavlja raspoloženu Minnie Driver kao Stephanie, ženu koja se suočava s time da proda stari automobil kao jedinu sponu s pokojnim suprugom Michaelom (Tom Burke) i u tom slučaju se s njime zauvijek oprosti. Suptilno sentimentalna, epizoda ima jedan veoma dojmljiv flešbek sa Stephanie i Michaelom u autu, godinama prije nego što je prodaja bila opcija.

Ponajbolja treća epizoda "Strangers On a (Dublin) Train" zgodna je parafraza klasika "Before Sunrise" za COVID-19 doba s otkrićem Carneyjeva filma "Sing Street" Lucy Boyton i "Game Of Thrones" zvijezdom Kitom Haringtonom u ulogama stranaca koji se sreću na vlaku za Dublin.

Ožujak je 2020. i stvari se zatvaraju na dva tjedna, a Paula i Michael namjeravaju provesti to vrijeme s obiteljima. Unatoč tome što se u kratkom roku povezuju, njih dvoje se pozdravljaju koronskim pozdravom (laktom) i dogovaraju da neće razmijeniti brojeve ("ne želim slati poruke kao tinejdžer") nego da će se sresti na vlaku za dva tjedna, što naravno nije zagarantirano.

"Što misliš da je ovo neki film na Netflixu", čut ćemo pitanje u epizodi u kojoj neodoljiva Boyton kanalizira Emmu Stone i netko bi je mogao zamijeniti za nju.

Gorko-slatka zadnja epizoda "Second Embrace, With Hearts and Eyes Open" sa Sophie Okonedo i Tobiasom Menziesem ("Kruna") kao bivšim supružnicima koji će se opet povezati godinama nakon razvoda. Ove tri epizode serije "Modern Love" najviše ostaju u sjećanju i pronalaze tračak staromodnog u "modernoj ljubavi".

Amazon se specijalizirao za antologijske serije koje su nalik omnibus filmovima pa je nakon "Modern Love" i "Solos" netom plasirao i "Modern Love 2". Sigurno znate što taj termin podrazumijeva: više epizoda okupljenih pod zajedničkom temom.

U slučaju "Modern Love", serije inspirirane istoimenom kolumnom "New York Timesa", tema je istaknuta u naslovu. Dakle, moderna ljubav.

Prva sezona nije uspjela odgovoriti na pitanje što je to "moderna ljubav", makar se trudila, a i "Modern Love 2" ne dobacuje puno dalje od prethodnika u čijem je približnom "gledljivo-i-zaboravljivo" dometu.

Ponovno imamo osam epizoda krajnje neravnomjernih u kvaliteti, gotovo sve vrste ljubavi načelno podatne za gledateljsku identifikaciju i više-manje zvučnu glumačku ekipu (Minnie Driver, Lucy Boynton, Kit Harrington, Garrett Hedlund, Anna Paquin).

I ponovno imamo nekoliko jako lijepih vinjetica, ali nažalost prednjače osrednje-prosječne ili slabije epizode za instant zaborav, dok kemija među ljubavnicima nije uvijek opipljiva i lišava seriju pravog emotivnog angažmana s obje strane ekrana, naročito ove naše.

Ljubavi nedostaje autentičnosti u "Modern Love 2", ako ne i iskrenosti. Naravno, teško je ljubavnicima postići "klik" u nekih 30-ak minuta, jednako kao kreatoru serije (još jednom John Carney) i glumcima da razviju likove i situacije u tako kratkom roku.

To se događa ravno tri puta u seriji, i to u prvoj, trećoj i osmoj epizodi koje kao redatelj potpisuje upravo Carney, poznat po krasnim filmskim glazbenim romansama "Jednom", "Pjesma koja ljubav znači" i "Raspjevana ulica", eventualno još u šestoj Johna Crawleyja ("Brooklyn", "Češljugar").

Prva epizoda "On a Serpentine Road, With the Top Down" predstavlja raspoloženu Minnie Driver kao Stephanie, ženu koja se suočava s time da proda stari automobil kao jedinu sponu s pokojnim suprugom Michaelom (Tom Burke) i u tom slučaju se s njime zauvijek oprosti. Suptilno sentimentalna, epizoda ima jedan veoma dojmljiv flešbek sa Stephanie i Michaelom u autu, godinama prije nego što je prodaja bila opcija.

Ponajbolja treća epizoda "Strangers On a (Dublin) Train" zgodna je parafraza klasika "Before Sunrise" za COVID-19 doba s otkrićem Carneyjeva filma "Sing Street" Lucy Boyton i "Game Of Thrones" zvijezdom Kitom Haringtonom u ulogama stranaca koji se sreću na vlaku za Dublin.

Ožujak je 2020. i stvari se zatvaraju na dva tjedna, a Paula i Michael namjeravaju provesti to vrijeme s obiteljima. Unatoč tome što se u kratkom roku povezuju, njih dvoje se pozdravljaju koronskim pozdravom (laktom) i dogovaraju da neće razmijeniti brojeve ("ne želim slati poruke kao tinejdžer") nego da će se sresti na vlaku za dva tjedna, što naravno nije zagarantirano.

"Što misliš da je ovo neki film na Netflixu", čut ćemo pitanje u epizodi u kojoj neodoljiva Boyton kanalizira Emmu Stone i netko bi je mogao zamijeniti za nju.

Gorko-slatka zadnja epizoda "Second Embrace, With Hearts and Eyes Open" sa Sophie Okonedo i Tobiasom Menziesem ("Kruna") kao bivšim supružnicima koji će se opet povezati godinama nakon razvoda. Ove tri epizode serije "Modern Love" najviše ostaju u sjećanju i pronalaze tračak staromodnog u "modernoj ljubavi".
