"Brand New Cherry Flavor" je najluđa i ponajbolja televizija (druge polovice) ljeta, Netflixova serija koja je takoreći došla tiho, bez posebnih fanfara, a mogla bi ući u legendu možda već do kraja sezone ili godine.

Kultni status ove serije je gotovo sigurno zajamčen. Nešto ovako nadrealno pomaknuto u "mindfuck" ravni ne viđa se često na TV-u, osim kad se na televiziju vrati David Lynch ("Twin Peaks: Povratak").

Ekranizirajući istoimeni roman Todda Grimsona kreatori Nick Antosca i Lenore Zion kunu se u Lyncha, od novog do starog "Twin Peaksa" i svega između, s naglaskom na "Izgubljenu cestu" i, najviše, "Mulholland Drive", najljepši filmofilski košmar u povijesti sedme umjetnosti.

Uvodni kadar je kadar a la "The Lost Highway", kadar izgubljene ceste koja vodi prema Los Angelesu i Hollywoodu gdje ranih devedesetih dolazi mlada filmašica s koferom snova i VHS kaseta Lisa Nova (dobra Rosa Salazar, zvijezda filma "Alita, anđeo borbe").

Tko to prepozna, kao i pojavu glumca iz "Mulholland Drivea" Patricka Fichlera, serija će mu biti po guštu. Ustvari, ovo je serija za punokrvne, "hard core" filmofile.

Svakako više nego za slučajne Netflixove namjernike, tj. "prosječne" korisnike popularnog streaming servisa kojima bi "Posve novi okus višnje" mogao biti prečudan i "too much".

Nije isključeno da će neki gledatelji prestati gledati "Brand New Cherry Flavor" nakon prve ili prve dvije epizode, kad zbivanja skrenu na "WTF" teritorij ludog i gadljivog, a Lisa počne povraćati mačiće (!) u scenama tjelesnog horora a la David Cronenberg ("Muha").

Cronenberg je spomenut u seriji kao i Paul Verhoeven ("RoboCop") u kontekstu Lise kao njihove potencijalne mlade ženske inačice. Spominje ih hollywoodski igrač Lou Burke (Eric Lange) koji Lisi prilikom prvog susreta kaže "Znaš one noći kad se svakih 20 min probudiš iz drugog sna", sugerirajući košmarnu snolikost serije.

Zaplet započinje kad Burke obeća Lisi snimanje dugometražnog prvijenca, "paranoidnog trilera", nakon što je vidio njezin kratki film snimljen na tragu "Stradanja Ivane Orleanske" i predatorski nasrne na nju.

Nakon toga, ona se iz osvetničkih pobuda obrati misterioznoj hipijevki Boro (Catherine Keener; iskusna s ovakvim suludim materijalom nakon "Biti John Malkovich") koja ga proklinje poput vještice.

Kad Lisa povrati mačića, neki gledatelj bi i sam mogao povratiti ili skrenuti pogled, ali kvaka je da serija izaziva najizdržljivije da je gledaju s intruzijama "linčovskog" horora uma i "kronenbergovskog" horora tijela, pojavama zombija i entiteta s onoga svijeta.

Nije sve to uvijek narativno koherentno izloženo i znade gubiti fokus, svojstveno skoro svim novijim serijama, ali čak i ima nekog "unutarnjeg smisla" da je tako računajući snolikost priče koja i kao takva daje intrigantan pogled na lice i naličje Hollywooda.

No, sve i da nema unutarnjeg smisla, više vrijedi jedno ovakvo unikatno, riskantno i halucinatorno iskustvo, nego mnoštvo generičkih serija snimljenih uz sigurnu asistenciju serijskih algoritama iz svijeta streaming televizije. Svijeta kojemu treba "Posve novi okus višnje".

"Brand New Cherry Flavor" je najluđa i ponajbolja televizija (druge polovice) ljeta, Netflixova serija koja je takoreći došla tiho, bez posebnih fanfara, a mogla bi ući u legendu možda već do kraja sezone ili godine.

Kultni status ove serije je gotovo sigurno zajamčen. Nešto ovako nadrealno pomaknuto u "mindfuck" ravni ne viđa se često na TV-u, osim kad se na televiziju vrati David Lynch ("Twin Peaks: Povratak").

Ekranizirajući istoimeni roman Todda Grimsona kreatori Nick Antosca i Lenore Zion kunu se u Lyncha, od novog do starog "Twin Peaksa" i svega između, s naglaskom na "Izgubljenu cestu" i, najviše, "Mulholland Drive", najljepši filmofilski košmar u povijesti sedme umjetnosti.

Uvodni kadar je kadar a la "The Lost Highway", kadar izgubljene ceste koja vodi prema Los Angelesu i Hollywoodu gdje ranih devedesetih dolazi mlada filmašica s koferom snova i VHS kaseta Lisa Nova (dobra Rosa Salazar, zvijezda filma "Alita, anđeo borbe").

Tko to prepozna, kao i pojavu glumca iz "Mulholland Drivea" Patricka Fichlera, serija će mu biti po guštu. Ustvari, ovo je serija za punokrvne, "hard core" filmofile.

Svakako više nego za slučajne Netflixove namjernike, tj. "prosječne" korisnike popularnog streaming servisa kojima bi "Posve novi okus višnje" mogao biti prečudan i "too much".

Nije isključeno da će neki gledatelji prestati gledati "Brand New Cherry Flavor" nakon prve ili prve dvije epizode, kad zbivanja skrenu na "WTF" teritorij ludog i gadljivog, a Lisa počne povraćati mačiće (!) u scenama tjelesnog horora a la David Cronenberg ("Muha").

Cronenberg je spomenut u seriji kao i Paul Verhoeven ("RoboCop") u kontekstu Lise kao njihove potencijalne mlade ženske inačice. Spominje ih hollywoodski igrač Lou Burke (Eric Lange) koji Lisi prilikom prvog susreta kaže "Znaš one noći kad se svakih 20 min probudiš iz drugog sna", sugerirajući košmarnu snolikost serije.

Zaplet započinje kad Burke obeća Lisi snimanje dugometražnog prvijenca, "paranoidnog trilera", nakon što je vidio njezin kratki film snimljen na tragu "Stradanja Ivane Orleanske" i predatorski nasrne na nju.

Nakon toga, ona se iz osvetničkih pobuda obrati misterioznoj hipijevki Boro (Catherine Keener; iskusna s ovakvim suludim materijalom nakon "Biti John Malkovich") koja ga proklinje poput vještice.

Kad Lisa povrati mačića, neki gledatelj bi i sam mogao povratiti ili skrenuti pogled, ali kvaka je da serija izaziva najizdržljivije da je gledaju s intruzijama "linčovskog" horora uma i "kronenbergovskog" horora tijela, pojavama zombija i entiteta s onoga svijeta.

Nije sve to uvijek narativno koherentno izloženo i znade gubiti fokus, svojstveno skoro svim novijim serijama, ali čak i ima nekog "unutarnjeg smisla" da je tako računajući snolikost priče koja i kao takva daje intrigantan pogled na lice i naličje Hollywooda.

No, sve i da nema unutarnjeg smisla, više vrijedi jedno ovakvo unikatno, riskantno i halucinatorno iskustvo, nego mnoštvo generičkih serija snimljenih uz sigurnu asistenciju serijskih algoritama iz svijeta streaming televizije. Svijeta kojemu treba "Posve novi okus višnje".
