Zaposlenici The Aquarium and Shark Laba u Sjevernoj Karolini ostali su prilično zbunjeni nakon što je ženka raže ostala u drugom stanju unatoč tome što u njenom akvariju nije bilo mužjaka raže. Osoblje je isprva bilo zabrinuto da raža Charlotte ima rak nakon što su u rujnu primijetili oteklinu i odlučili napraviti ultrazvuk.
Međutim, bili su šokirani kada su otkrili da je riba zapravo u iščekivanju podmlatka, unatoč tome što nije došla u kontakt s mužjakom raže. Charlotte nosi do četiri mladunca, tako je pokazao ultrazvuk, i trebala bi na svijet donijeti potomke svakog trenutka.
- Prvi put smo je snimili u rujnu. Vidjeli smo nekoliko izraslina unutra i pomislili smo da je rak. No, naš stručnjak Rob Jones rekao nam je da su to oplođene jajne stanice. Nije nam bilo jasno kako, jer nemamo mušku ražu, no on je objasnio da je do sada zabilježeno nekoliko slučajeva partenogeneze kod raža - rekao je jedan član osoblja, piše LAD Bible.
Partenogeneza je neobičan i rijedak fenomen u kojem se jajašce razvija bez oplodnje, čime zapravo nastaje klon vlastite majke. No partenogeneza nije jedina teorija koju stručnjaci razmatraju - jer osoblje vjeruje da je Charlotte mogao oploditi jedan od muških jednogodišnjih morskih pasa koji su ljetos stavljeni u isti akvarij kao i ona.
- Sredinom srpnja prošle godine u taj smo akvarij premjestili dva jednogodišnja morska psa white spot bamboo. Nismo mogli pronaći ništa o tome kada spolno sazrijevaju, pa nismo mislili da će biti problema. Počeli smo primjećivati tragove ugriza na Charlotte, ali smo vidjeli druge ribe kako je grizu, pa smo pomislili da je to to - dodao je zaposlenik.
Tragovi ugriza mogu biti znak parenja kod morskih pasa, jer su ribe poznate po tome što grickaju jedna drugu tijekom sezone parenja.
Raže su blisko povezane s morskim psima i obje su dio skupine riba koje se nazivaju Elasmobranchs - što znači da nije nemoguće da je došlo do parenja raže i morskog psa.

Zaposlenici The Aquarium and Shark Laba u Sjevernoj Karolini ostali su prilično zbunjeni nakon što je ženka raže ostala u drugom stanju unatoč tome što u njenom akvariju nije bilo mužjaka raže. Osoblje je isprva bilo zabrinuto da raža Charlotte ima rak nakon što su u rujnu primijetili oteklinu i odlučili napraviti ultrazvuk.
Međutim, bili su šokirani kada su otkrili da je riba zapravo u iščekivanju podmlatka, unatoč tome što nije došla u kontakt s mužjakom raže. Charlotte nosi do četiri mladunca, tako je pokazao ultrazvuk, i trebala bi na svijet donijeti potomke svakog trenutka.

Partenogeneza je neobičan i rijedak fenomen u kojem se jajašce razvija bez oplodnje, čime zapravo nastaje klon vlastite majke. No partenogeneza nije jedina teorija koju stručnjaci razmatraju - jer osoblje vjeruje da je Charlotte mogao oploditi jedan od muških jednogodišnjih morskih pasa koji su ljetos stavljeni u isti akvarij kao i ona.
- Sredinom srpnja prošle godine u taj smo akvarij premjestili dva jednogodišnja morska psa white spot bamboo. Nismo mogli pronaći ništa o tome kada spolno sazrijevaju, pa nismo mislili da će biti problema. Počeli smo primjećivati tragove ugriza na Charlotte, ali smo vidjeli druge ribe kako je grizu, pa smo pomislili da je to to - dodao je zaposlenik.
Tragovi ugriza mogu biti znak parenja kod morskih pasa, jer su ribe poznate po tome što grickaju jedna drugu tijekom sezone parenja.
Raže su blisko povezane s morskim psima i obje su dio skupine riba koje se nazivaju Elasmobranchs - što znači da nije nemoguće da je došlo do parenja raže i morskog psa.
Stručnjaci iz laboratorija provest će DNK testiranje Charlotteinih potomaka kada se rode kako bi utvrdili što su oni točno, prenosi Jutarnji list.
