Potpuna rekonstrukcija putničkih brodova za prelazak na pogon na metanol manje je isplativa od upotrebe miješanih goriva (Blend B30), teškog goriva (HFO) i teškog goriva uz ugradnju tehnologije za hvatanje i skladištenje ugljika (Onboard Carbon Capture and Storage System – oCCS), pokazuje novo izvješće klasifikacijskog društva Lloyd‘s Register.

Kako prenosi pomorac.hr, izvješće ‘Fuel for thought: Methanol for Passenger ships‘ kaže da je ukupni trošak tijekom životnog ciklusa (TCO) za putničke brodove koji su naknadno dograđeni dual-fuel motorima s pogonom na metanol više nego dvostruko veći od troška miješanog goriva, HFO i HFO s oCCS tehnologijom.

Izvješće je analiziralo ukupni trošak tijekom životnog ciklusa broda za upravitelje tijekom razdoblja od 15 godina i temelji rezultate na izračunu da bi se 65 % vremena plovidbe provelo u vodama EU.

Istraživanje pokazuje da je cijena bunkeriranja metanola glavna komercijalna prepreka za njegovu širu primjenu u pomorskoj industriji, dok je upotreba ekološki manje prihvatljivog metanola na bazi fosilnog (sivog) metanola komercijalno isplativija za vlasnike putničkih brodova od primjerice mješavine 50% sivog, 25% bio- i 25% e-metanola, čak i kada se u obzir uzmu EU porezi na emisije.

Međutim, izvješće naglašava da je metanol tehnički isplativo gorivo za brodare koji žele smanjiti emisije kod novoizgrađenih putničkih brodova, zahvaljujući karakteristikama metanola sličnima konvencionalnim gorivima. No, postoje i isplativi projekti dogradnje, poput LR projekta za brod Stena Germanica odrađenog još 2015. godine.

Tehnička održivost metanola odražava se i u globalnoj knjizi narudžbi putničkih brodova – niz brodova s pogonom na metanol, od malih plovila unutarnje plovidbe do najvećih brodova za krstarenje, trenutno čekaju isporuku.

Izvješće također ističe da su potrebna veća ulaganja u proizvodnju zelenog i biometanola, kao i poboljšanje bunkering infrastrukture kako bi se povećala dostupnost metanola i troškovi smanjili na komercijalno održivu razinu.

Potpuna rekonstrukcija putničkih brodova za prelazak na pogon na metanol manje je isplativa od upotrebe miješanih goriva (Blend B30), teškog goriva (HFO) i teškog goriva uz ugradnju tehnologije za hvatanje i skladištenje ugljika (Onboard Carbon Capture and Storage System – oCCS), pokazuje novo izvješće klasifikacijskog društva Lloyd‘s Register.

Kako prenosi pomorac.hr, izvješće ‘Fuel for thought: Methanol for Passenger ships‘ kaže da je ukupni trošak tijekom životnog ciklusa (TCO) za putničke brodove koji su naknadno dograđeni dual-fuel motorima s pogonom na metanol više nego dvostruko veći od troška miješanog goriva, HFO i HFO s oCCS tehnologijom.

Izvješće je analiziralo ukupni trošak tijekom životnog ciklusa broda za upravitelje tijekom razdoblja od 15 godina i temelji rezultate na izračunu da bi se 65 % vremena plovidbe provelo u vodama EU.

Istraživanje pokazuje da je cijena bunkeriranja metanola glavna komercijalna prepreka za njegovu širu primjenu u pomorskoj industriji, dok je upotreba ekološki manje prihvatljivog metanola na bazi fosilnog (sivog) metanola komercijalno isplativija za vlasnike putničkih brodova od primjerice mješavine 50% sivog, 25% bio- i 25% e-metanola, čak i kada se u obzir uzmu EU porezi na emisije.

Međutim, izvješće naglašava da je metanol tehnički isplativo gorivo za brodare koji žele smanjiti emisije kod novoizgrađenih putničkih brodova, zahvaljujući karakteristikama metanola sličnima konvencionalnim gorivima. No, postoje i isplativi projekti dogradnje, poput LR projekta za brod Stena Germanica odrađenog još 2015. godine.

Izvješće također ističe da su potrebna veća ulaganja u proizvodnju zelenog i biometanola, kao i poboljšanje bunkering infrastrukture kako bi se povećala dostupnost metanola i troškovi smanjili na komercijalno održivu razinu.

Potpuna rekonstrukcija putničkih brodova za prelazak na pogon na metanol manje je isplativa od upotrebe miješanih goriva (Blend B30), teškog goriva (HFO) i teškog goriva uz ugradnju tehnologije za hvatanje i skladištenje ugljika (Onboard Carbon Capture and Storage System – oCCS), pokazuje novo izvješće klasifikacijskog društva Lloyd‘s Register.

Kako prenosi pomorac.hr, izvješće ‘Fuel for thought: Methanol for Passenger ships‘ kaže da je ukupni trošak tijekom životnog ciklusa (TCO) za putničke brodove koji su naknadno dograđeni dual-fuel motorima s pogonom na metanol više nego dvostruko veći od troška miješanog goriva, HFO i HFO s oCCS tehnologijom.

Izvješće je analiziralo ukupni trošak tijekom životnog ciklusa broda za upravitelje tijekom razdoblja od 15 godina i temelji rezultate na izračunu da bi se 65 % vremena plovidbe provelo u vodama EU.

Istraživanje pokazuje da je cijena bunkeriranja metanola glavna komercijalna prepreka za njegovu širu primjenu u pomorskoj industriji, dok je upotreba ekološki manje prihvatljivog metanola na bazi fosilnog (sivog) metanola komercijalno isplativija za vlasnike putničkih brodova od primjerice mješavine 50% sivog, 25% bio- i 25% e-metanola, čak i kada se u obzir uzmu EU porezi na emisije.

Međutim, izvješće naglašava da je metanol tehnički isplativo gorivo za brodare koji žele smanjiti emisije kod novoizgrađenih putničkih brodova, zahvaljujući karakteristikama metanola sličnima konvencionalnim gorivima. No, postoje i isplativi projekti dogradnje, poput LR projekta za brod Stena Germanica odrađenog još 2015. godine.
