Najstariji, još postojeći, čamac za spašavanje zove se Zetland i nalazi se u muzeju u Redcaru u Engleskoj, a izgradio ga je Henry Greathead iz South Shieldsa.

Posadu su mu činili lokalni ribari koji su za 78 godina, koliko je brod bio u upotrebi, spasili 502 pomorca.

Naime, 17. veljače 1864. goldine, Zetland je pretrpio štetu dok je spašavao sedmočlanu posadu s broda Brothers. Nakon toga je proglašen neprikladnim za upotrebu te ga je zamjenio samouspravljajući čamac za spašavanje nazvan Crossley.

Zanimljivo, stari Zetland je bio predviđen da se uništi, no građani su spriječili takvu sudbinu legendarnog čamca te je brod, nakon pregovora, ipak predan lokalnoj zajednici.

Najstariji, još postojeći, čamac za spašavanje zove se Zetland i nalazi se u muzeju u Redcaru u Engleskoj, a izgradio ga je Henry Greathead iz South Shieldsa.

Posadu su mu činili lokalni ribari koji su za 78 godina, koliko je brod bio u upotrebi, spasili 502 pomorca.

Naime, 17. veljače 1864. goldine, Zetland je pretrpio štetu dok je spašavao sedmočlanu posadu s broda Brothers. Nakon toga je proglašen neprikladnim za upotrebu te ga je zamjenio samouspravljajući čamac za spašavanje nazvan Crossley.

Zanimljivo, stari Zetland je bio predviđen da se uništi, no građani su spriječili takvu sudbinu legendarnog čamca te je brod, nakon pregovora, ipak predan lokalnoj zajednici.

ZetlandOvo je najstariji sačuvani čamac za spašavanje: iz mora je izvukao više od 500 brodolomaca!

Najstariji, još postojeći, čamac za spašavanje zove se Zetland i nalazi se u muzeju u Redcaru u Engleskoj, a izgradio ga je Henry Greathead iz South Shieldsa.

Posadu su mu činili lokalni ribari koji su za 78 godina, koliko je brod bio u upotrebi, spasili 502 pomorca.

Naime, 17. veljače 1864. goldine, Zetland je pretrpio štetu dok je spašavao sedmočlanu posadu s broda Brothers. Nakon toga je proglašen neprikladnim za upotrebu te ga je zamjenio samouspravljajući čamac za spašavanje nazvan Crossley.

Zanimljivo, stari Zetland je bio predviđen da se uništi, no građani su spriječili takvu sudbinu legendarnog čamca te je brod, nakon pregovora, ipak predan lokalnoj zajednici.
