Mikladalur, najveće selo Kalsoya, jednog od Farskih otoka, stoljećima živi pod kletvom kojom ga je proklela Selkie, žena tuljanica.

Prema tamošnjoj legendi, tuljani potječu od utopljenika samoubojica. Jednom godišnje dolaze na obalu, svuku svoju tuljansku kožu i jednu noć provedu kao ljudi plešući i zabavljajući se.

Jedne takve noći momak iz Mikladalura zaljubio se u djevojku tuljanicu Kópakonan, pa joj je oteo i sakrio tuljansku kožu da se ne može vratiti u more. Vjenčali su se i dobili djecu, ali jednog je dana Kópakonan, dok joj muž nije bio kod kuće, pronašla svoju kožu i otišla u more. Kao brižna majka, ugasila je vatru i uklonila oštre predmete da se djeca ne ozlijede dok se otac ne vrati.

Nakon par godina, noć prije nego što su ribari krenuli u lov na tuljane, Kópakonan je svome mužu došla u san. Opisala mu je pećinu u kojoj se nalaze njezin morski muž, tuljan, i njihovo dvoje djece, i zamolila ga da ih u lovu poštede. Kopneni je muž ignorirao taj san, pa su ribari iz Mikladalura pobili i tuljane za koje je Kópakonan molila milost.

Očajna je majka zbog toga proklela cijelo mjesto: Za osvetu, neka se ljudi utapaju u moru i padaju s planinskih vrhova sve dok ih ne nastrada toliko da, držeći se za ruke, mogu opasati cijeli Kalsoy! 

I danas, kad netko iz Mikladalura nastrada u moru ili na planinama otoka, stanovnici kažu da je žrtva te kletve. No, unatoč tomu žitelji Mikladalura su joj u kolovozu 2014. podigli spomenik na plaži na kojoj je, po legendi, plesala i zavela njihova mještanina.

Mikladalur, najveće selo Kalsoya, jednog od Farskih otoka, stoljećima živi pod kletvom kojom ga je proklela Selkie, žena tuljanica.

Prema tamošnjoj legendi, tuljani potječu od utopljenika samoubojica. Jednom godišnje dolaze na obalu, svuku svoju tuljansku kožu i jednu noć provedu kao ljudi plešući i zabavljajući se.

Jedne takve noći momak iz Mikladalura zaljubio se u djevojku tuljanicu Kópakonan, pa joj je oteo i sakrio tuljansku kožu da se ne može vratiti u more. Vjenčali su se i dobili djecu, ali jednog je dana Kópakonan, dok joj muž nije bio kod kuće, pronašla svoju kožu i otišla u more. Nakon par godina, noć prije nego što su ribari krenuli u lov na tuljane, Kópakonan je svome mužu došla u san. Opisala mu je pećinu u kojoj se nalaze njezin morski muž, tuljan, i njihovo dvoje djece, i zamolila ga da ih u lovu poštede. Kopneni je muž ignorirao taj san, pa su ribari iz Mikladalura pobili i tuljane za koje je Kópakonan molila milost.

Očajna je majka zbog toga proklela cijelo mjesto: Za osvetu, neka se ljudi utapaju u moru i padaju s planinskih vrhova sve dok ih ne nastrada toliko da, držeći se za ruke, mogu opasati cijeli Kalsoy! 

I danas, kad netko iz Mikladalura nastrada u moru ili na planinama otoka, stanovnici kažu da je žrtva te kletve. No, unatoč tomu žitelji Mikladalura su joj u kolovozu 2014. podigli spomenik na plaži na kojoj je, po legendi, plesala i zavela njihova mještanina.

Mikladalur, najveće selo Kalsoya, jednog od Farskih otoka, stoljećima živi pod kletvom kojom ga je proklela Selkie, žena tuljanica.

Prema tamošnjoj legendi, tuljani potječu od utopljenika samoubojica. Jednom godišnje dolaze na obalu, svuku svoju tuljansku kožu i jednu noć provedu kao ljudi plešući i zabavljajući se.

Jedne takve noći momak iz Mikladalura zaljubio se u djevojku tuljanicu Kópakonan, pa joj je oteo i sakrio tuljansku kožu da se ne može vratiti u more. Vjenčali su se i dobili djecu, ali jednog je dana Kópakonan, dok joj muž nije bio kod kuće, pronašla svoju kožu i otišla u more.
