Pomorske karte, kompasi i šestari bili su nekad glavni alati kojima su se koristili pomorci. Karte su često bile ukrašavane dekoracijama, imale su i umjetničku vrijednost i krasile su domove bogate elite toga doba. Danas se rabe elektroničke pomorske karte, a sustav navigacije je digitaliziran.
Zadarsko Sveučilište, kao ustanova koja se sustavno bavi proučavanjem pomorstva, geografije i maritivne kulture, izložbom starih pomorskih karata i ovaj put potvrđuje svoju posvećenost moru, piše HRT.
Kapetan Šime Gržan navršava 92 godine,. Iza njega je pola stoljeća plovidbe i osvajanja svjetskih mora. Pamti parobrode i rado se sjeća vremena dok su se za kretanje morem i orijentaciju upotrebljavale papirnate pomorske karte.
- Šestar smo rabili za na karti mjerenje i ucrtavanje pozicija, imali smo kompas preko kojega smo snimali objekte po danu ili po noći ako su lanterne, svjetionici itd., to je bilo u obalnoj navigaciji, prisjeća se.
U navigaciji otvorenim morem, uz karte, orijentirali su se, prateći Sunce danju, a noću zvijezde. Školski brod Kraljica mora kao da je doplovio iz tih nekih davnih vremena jedrenjaka. Upravo taj brod zadarsko Sveučilište odabralo je za izložbu pod nazivom "Pomorske karte, susret znanosti, umjetnosti i prakse."
Pomorske karte nisu bile namijenjene samo pomorcima, vrlo rano počele su se dopunjavati dekoracijama, rađene su i za bogate naručitelje, koji su ih htjeli imati u svojim domovima. I upravo u najvećem broju sačuvane su takve karte, one korištene na moru nagrizala je sol.
Povijest pomorske kartografije može se pratiti u kontinuitetu od kraja 13. stoljeća, kad se prvi put spominju u dokumentima.
Prikazivanje Jadrana na pomorskim kartama bilo je jedno od najčešće detaljno prikazivanih mora na Sredozemlju, što svjedoči o značenju Jadrana u pomorsko-geografskom sustavu Sredozemlja.
Papirnate karte u modernoj navigaciji zamijenile su elektroničke. Ipak, nekad su papirnate pomorske karte bile najbolji put prema sigurnoj plovidbi i najvredniji gusarski plijen.

Pomorske karte, kompasi i šestari bili su nekad glavni alati kojima su se koristili pomorci. Karte su često bile ukrašavane dekoracijama, imale su i umjetničku vrijednost i krasile su domove bogate elite toga doba. Danas se rabe elektroničke pomorske karte, a sustav navigacije je digitaliziran.
Zadarsko Sveučilište, kao ustanova koja se sustavno bavi proučavanjem pomorstva, geografije i maritivne kulture, izložbom starih pomorskih karata i ovaj put potvrđuje svoju posvećenost moru, piše HRT.
Kapetan Šime Gržan navršava 92 godine,. Iza njega je pola stoljeća plovidbe i osvajanja svjetskih mora. Pamti parobrode i rado se sjeća vremena dok su se za kretanje morem i orijentaciju upotrebljavale papirnate pomorske karte.
- Šestar smo rabili za na karti mjerenje i ucrtavanje pozicija, imali smo kompas preko kojega smo snimali objekte po danu ili po noći ako su lanterne, svjetionici itd., to je bilo u obalnoj navigaciji, prisjeća se.
U navigaciji otvorenim morem, uz karte, orijentirali su se, prateći Sunce danju, a noću zvijezde. Školski brod Kraljica mora kao da je doplovio iz tih nekih davnih vremena jedrenjaka. Upravo taj brod zadarsko Sveučilište odabralo je za izložbu pod nazivom "Pomorske karte, susret znanosti, umjetnosti i prakse."
Pomorske karte nisu bile namijenjene samo pomorcima, vrlo rano počele su se dopunjavati dekoracijama, rađene su i za bogate naručitelje, koji su ih htjeli imati u svojim domovima. I upravo u najvećem broju sačuvane su takve karte, one korištene na moru nagrizala je sol.
Povijest pomorske kartografije može se pratiti u kontinuitetu od kraja 13. stoljeća, kad se prvi put spominju u dokumentima.
Prikazivanje Jadrana na pomorskim kartama bilo je jedno od najčešće detaljno prikazivanih mora na Sredozemlju, što svjedoči o značenju Jadrana u pomorsko-geografskom sustavu Sredozemlja.
Papirnate karte u modernoj navigaciji zamijenile su elektroničke. Ipak, nekad su papirnate pomorske karte bile najbolji put prema sigurnoj plovidbi i najvredniji gusarski plijen.
