Poznato je da je dobra prevencija zdravlja prestati dosoljavati hranu jer to značajno pomaže održati krvni tlak u normalnim granicama. Međutim, nova studija sa Sveučilišta Tulane u New Orleansu, koja je koristila podatke oko 400.000 sudionika, pokazala je da je to korisna metoda i u prevenciji dijabetesa tipa 2. Studija je opservacijska, što znači da ne može dokazati uzrok i posljedicu - konkretno, da previše soli u prehrani uzrokuje dijabetes, već samo da je otkrivena povezanost, a ne isključuje i druge razloge razvoja bolesti, piše Živim.

Prerađene namirnice

Vjeruje se i dokazano je da povećanje unosa soli, mjereno natrijem u mokraći, može povećati razinu hormona stresa, kortizola, a on je povezan s povišenim krvnim tlakom i smanjenom učinkovitošću hormona inzulina, ključnog u kontroli razine glukoze u krvi i u razvoju dijabetesa. Dokazi za ovaj mehanizam temelje se na pokusima na životinjama, ali još uvijek ne i na ljudima.

Unatoč tome što se konkretni zaključci mogu čekati godinama, smanjenje soli je uvijek dobar savjet koji se itekako isplati slušati. Količina soli koja nam je potrebna daleko je manja od 8-11 grama koliko je dnevno unosi prosječan čovjek na zapadu (uključujući i Hrvatsku). Također, velika većina zemalja provodi mjere smanjivanja soli u prehrani kako bi se drastično smanjio broj oboljelih od povišenog krvnog tlaka, koji je među glavnim okidačima moždanog udara.

Visoki krvni tlak

Također, osobe s dijabetesom tipa 2 često imaju i visoki krvni tlak, a kada smanje sol u prehrani, zdravlje im se poboljša i smanje se komplikacije koje često prate neregulirani šećer.

Treba znati i da se znatne količine soli, kao i šećera, nalaze u prerađenoj hrani. Prema najnovijim podacima iz britanskog nacionalnog istraživanja o prehrani, najveći doprinos soli u prehrani imaju kruh, sir i mesni proizvodi poput slanine. No, veliki dio našeg unosa soli također dolazi iz gotovih jela, juha i umaka, pekarskih proizvoda i žitarica, ali i slatke hrane. Naime, uz čips i konzervirane proizvode, sol se skriva i u desertima, u koje se dodaje da pojača okus slatkog.

Poznato je da je dobra prevencija zdravlja prestati dosoljavati hranu jer to značajno pomaže održati krvni tlak u normalnim granicama. Međutim, nova studija sa Sveučilišta Tulane u New Orleansu, koja je koristila podatke oko 400.000 sudionika, pokazala je da je to korisna metoda i u prevenciji dijabetesa tipa 2. Studija je opservacijska, što znači da ne može dokazati uzrok i posljedicu - konkretno, da previše soli u prehrani uzrokuje dijabetes, već samo da je otkrivena povezanost, a ne isključuje i druge razloge razvoja bolesti, piše Živim.

Vjeruje se i dokazano je da povećanje unosa soli, mjereno natrijem u mokraći, može povećati razinu hormona stresa, kortizola, a on je povezan s povišenim krvnim tlakom i smanjenom učinkovitošću hormona inzulina, ključnog u kontroli razine glukoze u krvi i u razvoju dijabetesa. Dokazi za ovaj mehanizam temelje se na pokusima na životinjama, ali još uvijek ne i na ljudima.

Unatoč tome što se konkretni zaključci mogu čekati godinama, smanjenje soli je uvijek dobar savjet koji se itekako isplati slušati. Količina soli koja nam je potrebna daleko je manja od 8-11 grama koliko je dnevno unosi prosječan čovjek na zapadu (uključujući i Hrvatsku). Također, velika većina zemalja provodi mjere smanjivanja soli u prehrani kako bi se drastično smanjio broj oboljelih od povišenog krvnog tlaka, koji je među glavnim okidačima moždanog udara.

Visoki krvni tlak

Također, osobe s dijabetesom tipa 2 često imaju i visoki krvni tlak, a kada smanje sol u prehrani, zdravlje im se poboljša i smanje se komplikacije koje često prate neregulirani šećer.

Treba znati i da se znatne količine soli, kao i šećera, nalaze u prerađenoj hrani. Prema najnovijim podacima iz britanskog nacionalnog istraživanja o prehrani, najveći doprinos soli u prehrani imaju kruh, sir i mesni proizvodi poput slanine. No, veliki dio našeg unosa soli također dolazi iz gotovih jela, juha i umaka, pekarskih proizvoda i žitarica, ali i slatke hrane. Naime, uz čips i konzervirane proizvode, sol se skriva i u desertima, u koje se dodaje da pojača okus slatkog.

Poznato je da je dobra prevencija zdravlja prestati dosoljavati hranu jer to značajno pomaže održati krvni tlak u normalnim granicama. Međutim, nova studija sa Sveučilišta Tulane u New Orleansu, koja je koristila podatke oko 400.000 sudionika, pokazala je da je to korisna metoda i u prevenciji dijabetesa tipa 2. Studija je opservacijska, što znači da ne može dokazati uzrok i posljedicu - konkretno, da previše soli u prehrani uzrokuje dijabetes, već samo da je otkrivena povezanost, a ne isključuje i druge razloge razvoja bolesti, piše Živim.
