Postoji mnogo razloga da uživate u kikirikiju i proizvodima na bazi kikirikija i ekstra djevičanskog ulja od kikirikija, no najvažniji učinak konzumiranja kikirikija je to što vam može pomoći da živite duže. Ta dinamična kombinacija proteina i vlakana usporava probavu te tako i umanjuje osjećaj gladi, a povećava osjećaj sitosti nakon obroka. Također, opskrbljuje organizam širokom paletom bioaktivnih tvari koje, kako su pokazala istraživanja, podupiru zdravlje srca i imaju brojne druge zdravstvene dobrobiti.

Kikiriki je super hrana u pravom smislu riječi: šaka kikirikija sadrži čak 7 grama visoko kvalitetnih biljnih proteina. S obzirom na to da su proteini iz kikirikija biljnog porijekla dolaze uz neke dodatne komponente koje imaju pozitivne učinke na zdravlje, poput vlakana, antioksidansa i korisnih fitonutrijenata. Istraživanja su pokazala da se količina nekoliko tih fitonutrijenata povećava kad se kikiriki kuha ili prži, što ga onda čini još zdravijim.

Optimalna težina

Masnoće u kikirikiju su primarno jednostruko nezasićene i višestruko nezasićene, a i jedne i druge su poznate po tome da smanjuju rizik za razvoj srčanih bolesti. Stručnjaci za srce, pa tako i Američko udruženje za srce, preporučuju konzumiranje nezasićenih masti umjesto zasićenih kakve se nalaze u maslacu, punomasnim mliječnim proizvodima i masnom mesu. Kikiriki je inače vrlo zasitan te može pomoći u održavanju optimalne tjelesne težine, zahvaljujući udjelu proteina i vlakana.

Ta dinamična kombinacija proteina i vlakana usporava probavu te tako i umanjuje osjećaj gladi, a povećava osjećaj sitosti nakon obroka. Istraživanja su pokazala da visoko kvalitetni proteini pomažu u reguliranju hormona gladi, a vlakna pojačavaju osjećaj ispunjenosti u trbuhu, što pomaže svima onima koji nastoje održati zdravu tjelesnu težinu. To je ujedno i razlog zašto svi oni koji često uživaju u kikirikiju i orašastim plodovima imaju manji rizik da imaju prekomjernu tjelesnu težinu ili da budu pretili u odnosu na osobe koje ne jedu često kikiriki ni orašaste plodove. 

Duži i zdraviji život

Jedno istraživanje objavljeno u časopisu JAMA pokazalo je da kikiriki može pomoći da živimo duži i zdraviji život. Znanstvenici su otkrili su sudionici istraživanja koji su izjavili da često jedu kikiriki i orašaste plodove imali znatno manji rizik za smrt od bilo kojeg uzroka, a naročito srčanih bolesti, tijekom trajanja studije. Još jedna ne manje važna stavka u prilog kikirikiju jest to što je cijenom puno prihvatljiviji od orašastih plodova. I za kraj, još je nekoliko velikih studija u koje je bilo uključeno na tisuće ispitanika zaključilo da kikiriki, kao dio zdrave prehrane koja se temelji pretežno na namirnicama biljnog porijekla, može pomoći da živimo duže, piše Živim.
