Jokerovski zamrznuti osmijeh već je znao biti pokretač horora. Vidjeli smo ga u filmu “Istina ili izazov” s potentnom premisom o zlokobnim posljedicama demonske titularne igre. Prijelazno prokletstvo igre sustizalo je igrače u vidu nevidljivog entiteta manifestiranog u izobličenim licima drugih ljudi, znanaca i stranaca, koja samo oni vide.

"Truth Or Dare" u konačnici nije ispunio potencijal i bio je osrednje-slabašni, generički horor bez šušta i gušta, lišen punokrvnih scena strave i nekog intrigantnog podteksta. Foršpani za “Smiješak” (“Smile”) redatelja i scenarista Parkera Finna, prvi horor jesenske kinosezone 2022. u produkciji hollywoodskog "major" studija Paramount Pictures, sugerirali su da je pred nama naizgledna kopija “Istine ili izazova”.

Sličnosti postoje, no “Smiješak” je, srećom, kvalitativno bliži drugim filmovima strave o prokletstvima i urbanim legendama, od japanskih horora i njihovih dostojnih remakeova poput “Kruga”, do bisera kao što je “To dolazi”.

Štoviše, “Smile” je jedan od najboljih “mainstream” horora u posljednje vrijeme, i uopće američkih unatrag godinu dana ("Kuća noćnih mora", "Candyman", "Crni telefon", "Vrisak"), produžetak Finnova kratkog filma “Laura Hasn’t Slept”.

Nije ovo prvi put da je kratki horor postao dugi sjetimo li se filmova “Kad se svjetla ugase” i “Igra strave”, ali Finn je napravio dobar posao rastegnuvši 11 minuta na 115. “Rastezanje” se ustvari uopće ne osjeti: “Smile” ima fini tok i grabi gledatelja od uvodne scene zahvaljujući konceptu, režiji i odličnoj glumici Sosie Bacon (kćerka Kevina Bacona i Kyre Sedgwick) koja iz nekih kutova veoma nalikuje našoj Ivani Roščić.

Bacon će proživjeti teški horor ulozi psihijatrice Rose Cotter nakon što pacijentica Laura (Caitlin Stasey) počini brutalno samoubojstvo pred njom, prerezavši grkljan s jezivim psihotičnim smiješkom na licu. Laura je dovedena na hitni psihijatrijski prijem kad se požalila da je “progoni neka vrsta zlog entiteta” otkako je prije četiri dana posvjedočila krvavom samoubojstvu profesora koji je samoga sebe zatukao čekićem.

”Na doktoratu sam, nisam neka luđakinja”, rekla je prije suicida negirajući da se radi samo o priviđenjima i otkrila Rose da je proganja neki “neobjašnjivi stvor”. On(o) “poprima obličje različitih ljudi” (“netko koga znam, nekad stranac”), “nosi tuđa lica kao maske” i smiješka joj se, ali to nije “prijateljski smiješak”.

Njezino samoubojstvo je dvostruki okidač za Rose. Naime, psihijatrica je kao klinka posvjedočila samoubojstvu vlastite mentalno nestabilne majke i ta je trauma otad proganja, kao što će je početi proganjati isti stvor iz Laurine priče. Rose polako proživljava sve što je prije smrti opisala Laura.

Isprve ona vlastite vizije, halucinacije i deluzije propisuje ponovno aktiviranoj traumi, ali ispostavlja se da je prokletstvo na nju prenijeto. Demonski stvor živi od tuđe traume: sve slučajeve prati isti obrazac i svi koji ga vide su svjedoci samoubojstva i tim svjedočanstvom preuzimaju prokletstvo od stradalih, tj. ono ih obuzima i preuzima dok ga i sami ne prenesu nekom drugom kad ih snađe ista sudbina.

Dok nasmiješeno lice zla “skače od osobe do osobe i tjera ih da se ubiju”, odnosno hrani se osobnim demonima, tjeskobama i unutarnjom borbom traumatiziranih ljudi, njihovim (“zamamnim”) umovima kojima ne mogu pobjeći, “Smiješak” projicira nelagodu i strah, a neke uistinu efektne (“bu”) scene orkestrirane su da i otpornijeg horor gledatelja propisno štrecnu i dovedu ga do ruba kinosjedala.

Međutim, najveći adut filma jest da Finn rabi žanr horora kako bi progovorio o traumama, strahovima, emotivnim ranama i “prokletstvu” (naslijeđene) mentalne bolesti. “Smile” progovara o stvarima koje su često demonizirane od strane okoline i, zbog toga, skrivene ispod širokog umjetnog osmijeha, namještenog kao prilikom fotografiranja. Jokerovski zamrznuti osmijeh već je znao biti pokretač horora. Vidjeli smo ga u filmu “Istina ili izazov” s potentnom premisom o zlokobnim posljedicama demonske titularne igre. Prijelazno prokletstvo igre sustizalo je igrače u vidu nevidljivog entiteta manifestiranog u izobličenim licima drugih ljudi, znanaca i stranaca, koja samo oni vide.

"Truth Or Dare" u konačnici nije ispunio potencijal i bio je osrednje-slabašni, generički horor bez šušta i gušta, lišen punokrvnih scena strave i nekog intrigantnog podteksta. Foršpani za “Smiješak” (“Smile”) redatelja i scenarista Parkera Finna, prvi horor jesenske kinosezone 2022. u produkciji hollywoodskog "major" studija Paramount Pictures, sugerirali su da je pred nama naizgledna kopija “Istine ili izazova”.

Sličnosti postoje, no “Smiješak” je, srećom, kvalitativno bliži drugim filmovima strave o prokletstvima i urbanim legendama, od japanskih horora i njihovih dostojnih remakeova poput “Kruga”, do bisera kao što je “To dolazi”.

Štoviše, “Smile” je jedan od najboljih “mainstream” horora u posljednje vrijeme, i uopće američkih unatrag godinu dana ("Kuća noćnih mora", "Candyman", "Crni telefon", "Vrisak"), produžetak Finnova kratkog filma “Laura Hasn’t Slept”.

Nije ovo prvi put da je kratki horor postao dugi sjetimo li se filmova “Kad se svjetla ugase” i “Igra strave”, ali Finn je napravio dobar posao rastegnuvši 11 minuta na 115. “Rastezanje” se ustvari uopće ne osjeti: “Smile” ima fini tok i grabi gledatelja od uvodne scene zahvaljujući konceptu, režiji i odličnoj glumici Sosie Bacon (kćerka Kevina Bacona i Kyre Sedgwick) koja iz nekih kutova veoma nalikuje našoj Ivani Roščić.

Bacon će proživjeti teški horor ulozi psihijatrice Rose Cotter nakon što pacijentica Laura (Caitlin Stasey) počini brutalno samoubojstvo pred njom, prerezavši grkljan s jezivim psihotičnim smiješkom na licu. Laura je dovedena na hitni psihijatrijski prijem kad se požalila da je “progoni neka vrsta zlog entiteta” otkako je prije četiri dana posvjedočila krvavom samoubojstvu profesora koji je samoga sebe zatukao čekićem.

”Na doktoratu sam, nisam neka luđakinja”, rekla je prije suicida negirajući da se radi samo o priviđenjima i otkrila Rose da je proganja neki “neobjašnjivi stvor”. On(o) “poprima obličje različitih ljudi” (“netko koga znam, nekad stranac”), “nosi tuđa lica kao maske” i smiješka joj se, ali to nije “prijateljski smiješak”.

Njezino samoubojstvo je dvostruki okidač za Rose. Naime, psihijatrica je kao klinka posvjedočila samoubojstvu vlastite mentalno nestabilne majke i ta je trauma otad proganja, kao što će je početi proganjati isti stvor iz Laurine priče. Rose polako proživljava sve što je prije smrti opisala Laura.

Isprve ona vlastite vizije, halucinacije i deluzije propisuje ponovno aktiviranoj traumi, ali ispostavlja se da je prokletstvo na nju prenijeto. Demonski stvor živi od tuđe traume: sve slučajeve prati isti obrazac i svi koji ga vide su svjedoci samoubojstva i tim svjedočanstvom preuzimaju prokletstvo od stradalih, tj. ono ih obuzima i preuzima dok ga i sami ne prenesu nekom drugom kad ih snađe ista sudbina.

Dok nasmiješeno lice zla “skače od osobe do osobe i tjera ih da se ubiju”, odnosno hrani se osobnim demonima, tjeskobama i unutarnjom borbom traumatiziranih ljudi, njihovim (“zamamnim”) umovima kojima ne mogu pobjeći, “Smiješak” projicira nelagodu i strah, a neke uistinu efektne (“bu”) scene orkestrirane su da i otpornijeg horor gledatelja propisno štrecnu i dovedu ga do ruba kinosjedala.

Međutim, najveći adut filma jest da Finn rabi žanr horora kako bi progovorio o traumama, strahovima, emotivnim ranama i “prokletstvu” (naslijeđene) mentalne bolesti. “Smile” progovara o stvarima koje su često demonizirane od strane okoline i, zbog toga, skrivene ispod širokog umjetnog osmijeha, namještenog kao prilikom fotografiranja. Jokerovski zamrznuti osmijeh već je znao biti pokretač horora. Vidjeli smo ga u filmu “Istina ili izazov” s potentnom premisom o zlokobnim posljedicama demonske titularne igre. Prijelazno prokletstvo igre sustizalo je igrače u vidu nevidljivog entiteta manifestiranog u izobličenim licima drugih ljudi, znanaca i stranaca, koja samo oni vide.

"Truth Or Dare" u konačnici nije ispunio potencijal i bio je osrednje-slabašni, generički horor bez šušta i gušta, lišen punokrvnih scena strave i nekog intrigantnog podteksta. Foršpani za “Smiješak” (“Smile”) redatelja i scenarista Parkera Finna, prvi horor jesenske kinosezone 2022. u produkciji hollywoodskog "major" studija Paramount Pictures, sugerirali su da je pred nama naizgledna kopija “Istine ili izazova”.
