Teleportirani smo devet godina u budućnost u (romantičnoj) SF komediji “Roboti” (“Robots”), nadahnutoj kratkom pričom “The Robot Who Looked Like Me” Roberta Sheckleyja. Godina je 2032. kao u “Demolition Manu”. Umjetna inteligencija i robotika napredovala je toliko da su roboti u Americi postali normalna pojava i simbolički zamjenjuju ilegalne meksičke imigrante. Napredovala je i trumpovska politika.

Zid između Amerike i Meksika je sagrađen. S američke strane zida, robotski dvojnici ljudi su ilegalni, ali oni u Meksiku imaju jednaka prava kao i ljudi. Takve ilegalne robotske dvojnike posjeduju glavni likovi filma, lijeni bogatun Charles (Jack Whitehall) i sponzoruša Elaine (Shailene Woodley).

Charles svog dvojnika, nazvanog C2 (također Whitehall), koristi za “dejtanje”. C2 izlazi sa djevojkama do trenutka kad su one spremne za seks i tad nastupa Charles. “Sagradio sam te specifično da me poštediš dosade upoznavanja”, iskren je Charles. I Elaine ima robotsku dvojnicu E2 (opet Woodley).

Elaine postupa suprotno od Charlesa: ona ispočetka izlazi s muškarcima koji joj kupuju torbice da je odvuku u krevet, a kad dođe do te faze stvar preuzima E2. Ideja je, sada i ovdje, u ChatGPT razdoblju bujanja umjetne inteligencije, prilično zgodna za rom-com iz sfere znanstvene fantastike i lako je predočiti da bi neki ljudi radili isto što i glavni likovi filma.

Prva trećina “Robota” je žanrovski i društveno-politički obećavajuća, zahvaljujući početnom razvoju ideje iz pera koscenarista Anthonyja Hinesa (autor scenarija za komedije Sache Barona Cohena poput “Borata 1&2”, “Bruna” i “Diktatora”) koji je film i režirao s Casperom Christensenom.

Zaplet se zapliće kad Charles upozna Elaine na klizanju ili su to možda njihovi dvojnici. Svakako, umjesto da se, u odsudnom trenutku, pravi Charles spoji s pravom Elaine, spajaju se C2 i E2. Kad se ljubav među njima rodi i odluče pobjeći u Meksiko, za njima kreću njihovi vlasnici koji će se, predvidljivo, isto zaljubiti unatoč startnom animozitetu.

Otad nadalje, film se počinje kvariti i ponašati poput neispravnog robota uz neke štosne referencije na SF klasike (C2D2 kao R2D2, firma “Cameron Group” prema tati Terminatora Jamesu Cameronu). Očekivalo se puno više od potentne premise, ali “Robots” nije ni blizu dobar i kompleksan da bi bio novi “Her”.

Scene su mehaničke i algoritamske, u humornom smislu povremeno simpatične (prst u oko kao provjera tko je čovjek, tko robot) i lišene dobrog ukusa (roboti fingiraju oružani pokolj), likovi jednodimenzionalni, a glumci djeluju robotski i nemaju iskru potrebnu da zapali romantično-komičnu kemiju.

Whitehall i Woodley su zasebno razmjerno okej, ali kao par ne funkcioniraju. Možda je sve to bilo planski u smislu unutarnje logike “Robota” i po(r)uke redateljskog dvojca, da film izgleda mehanički, tj. da su glumci robotoliki i nemaju kemiju. Robotski dvojnici se sve više humaniziraju, uče (su) osjećati, ljudskiji su od ljudi. No, zahvaljujući automatizaciji glumaca, pa i režiji na određenoj distanciji, gledatelj nije dovoljno investiran u romantična zbivanja koja pokreću priču. “Roboti” robotiziraju romantičnu komediju.

Shailene i Jack

Nedavno smo Shailene Woodley gledali u triler "Lov na ubojicu", a prije toga u "Mauritancu". Britanski komičar Jack Whitehall bio je, pak, viđen u "Krstarenju džunglom" i "Velikom crvenom psu Cliffordu".

Teleportirani smo devet godina u budućnost u (romantičnoj) SF komediji “Roboti” (“Robots”), nadahnutoj kratkom pričom “The Robot Who Looked Like Me” Roberta Sheckleyja. Godina je 2032. kao u “Demolition Manu”. Umjetna inteligencija i robotika napredovala je toliko da su roboti u Americi postali normalna pojava i simbolički zamjenjuju ilegalne meksičke imigrante. Napredovala je i trumpovska politika.

Zid između Amerike i Meksika je sagrađen. S američke strane zida, robotski dvojnici ljudi su ilegalni, ali oni u Meksiku imaju jednaka prava kao i ljudi. Takve ilegalne robotske dvojnike posjeduju glavni likovi filma, lijeni bogatun Charles (Jack Whitehall) i sponzoruša Elaine (Shailene Woodley).

Charles svog dvojnika, nazvanog C2 (također Whitehall), koristi za “dejtanje”. C2 izlazi sa djevojkama do trenutka kad su one spremne za seks i tad nastupa Charles. “Sagradio sam te specifično da me poštediš dosade upoznavanja”, iskren je Charles. I Elaine ima robotsku dvojnicu E2 (opet Woodley).

Elaine postupa suprotno od Charlesa: ona ispočetka izlazi s muškarcima koji joj kupuju torbice da je odvuku u krevet, a kad dođe do te faze stvar preuzima E2. Ideja je, sada i ovdje, u ChatGPT razdoblju bujanja umjetne inteligencije, prilično zgodna za rom-com iz sfere znanstvene fantastike i lako je predočiti da bi neki ljudi radili isto što i glavni likovi filma.

Prva trećina “Robota” je žanrovski i društveno-politički obećavajuća, zahvaljujući početnom razvoju ideje iz pera koscenarista Anthonyja Hinesa (autor scenarija za komedije Sache Barona Cohena poput “Borata 1&2”, “Bruna” i “Diktatora”) koji je film i režirao s Casperom Christensenom.

Zaplet se zapliće kad Charles upozna Elaine na klizanju ili su to možda njihovi dvojnici. Svakako, umjesto da se, u odsudnom trenutku, pravi Charles spoji s pravom Elaine, spajaju se C2 i E2. Kad se ljubav među njima rodi i odluče pobjeći u Meksiko, za njima kreću njihovi vlasnici koji će se, predvidljivo, isto zaljubiti unatoč startnom animozitetu.

Otad nadalje, film se počinje kvariti i ponašati poput neispravnog robota uz neke štosne referencije na SF klasike (C2D2 kao R2D2, firma “Cameron Group” prema tati Terminatora Jamesu Cameronu). Očekivalo se puno više od potentne premise, ali “Robots” nije ni blizu dobar i kompleksan da bi bio novi “Her”.

Scene su mehaničke i algoritamske, u humornom smislu povremeno simpatične (prst u oko kao provjera tko je čovjek, tko robot) i lišene dobrog ukusa (roboti fingiraju oružani pokolj), likovi jednodimenzionalni, a glumci djeluju robotski i nemaju iskru potrebnu da zapali romantično-komičnu kemiju.

Whitehall i Woodley su zasebno razmjerno okej, ali kao par ne funkcioniraju. Možda je sve to bilo planski u smislu unutarnje logike “Robota” i po(r)uke redateljskog dvojca, da film izgleda mehanički, tj. da su glumci robotoliki i nemaju kemiju. Robotski dvojnici se sve više humaniziraju, uče (su) osjećati, ljudskiji su od ljudi. No, zahvaljujući automatizaciji glumaca, pa i režiji na određenoj distanciji, gledatelj nije dovoljno investiran u romantična zbivanja koja pokreću priču. “Roboti” robotiziraju romantičnu komediju.

Shailene i Jack

Nedavno smo Shailene Woodley gledali u triler "Lov na ubojicu", a prije toga u "Mauritancu". Britanski komičar Jack Whitehall bio je, pak, viđen u "Krstarenju džunglom" i "Velikom crvenom psu Cliffordu".
