Netom okončani ZFF bio je idealna lansirna rampa za novi nezavisni film Sofije Coppole "On The Rocks" ("Na ledu"). Na tom festivalu zaljubili smo se smo u Coppoličin divan drugijenac "Izgubljeni u prijevodu" i gledali njezin pretposljednji film "Opčinjen". Nažalost, ZFF je ostao uskraćen za hrvatsku premijeru "On The Rocks".

Možda je to jedan od onih "nekoliko naslova" koje "morali smo zamijeniti jer distributeri nisu bili skloni 'online' prikazivanju", kako nam je u intervjuu rekao direktor ZFF-a. A opet, možda i nije. Jer, nakon premijere na New York Film Festivalu i limitirane kinodistribucije po Americi, te pojedinim zemljama Europe i Azije, "Na ledu" je postao dostupan upravo za "online" gledanje na streaming platformi Apple TV+.

Bilo kako bilo, "On The Rocks" ne zaslužuje da prođe ispod radara. Nije to film na razini najboljih Coppoličinih ostvarenja, poput "Lost In Translation" i "Somewhere", ali je na dobrom tragu kao prilično kreativna rekreacija njihovih (i autoričinih) ključnih tema i motiva izloženih unutar humorne drame.

New York iz ovog filma Coppola snima melankolično kao nekoć Tokio i budi osjećaj izgubljenosti u prijevodu novomilenijske usamljenosti. Ponovno imamo odnos dvoje ljudi, verbalnu interakciju starijeg muškarca i mlađe žene. No, kvaka je da su oni ovaj put otac i kći – Felix (Bill Murray) i Laura (Rashida Jones), čime se "Na ledu" nastavlja na "Negdje", kao njegova znatno odraslija, ako ne i "zrelija" verzija.

Ipak, "Izgubljeni u prijevodu" su glavna poveznica, od noćnog života New Yorka i Tokija do spomena karaoke partyja i likova. "Playboy" Felix na momente djeluje da bi mogao biti vremešnija i raskalašenija inačica Boba Harrisa, a spisateljica Laura ima poveznica s osamljenom Charlotte, među ostalim preko prezaposlenog supruga (tamo Giovanni Ribisi, ovamo Marlon Wayans) koji je zapostavlja i ostavlja samu, možda i vara.

Dvosmisleni naslov filma "On The Rocks" može se odnositi i na piće s ledom koje Felix naručuje, ali i, još više, Laurin brak koji je "na ledu", a zbog čega joj se život možda raspada i nema inspiracije za pisanje. Laurina sumnja u suprugovu nevjeru je pokretač radnje, a zapravo samo povod da provede vremena s otuđenim ocem čija se sjena nadvija na njezinim životom i Coppola usput kaže nešto o muško-ženskim/bračnim odnosima pa i odnosu s vlastitim tatom, legendarnim redateljem Francisom Fordom ("Kum", "Prisluškivanje", "Apokalipsa danas").

Muško-ženski odnosi su komplicirani i Coppola preko Laure propituje mogu li muškarci biti monogamni i zadovoljni samo s jednom ženom, dopuštajući i Felixu da natukne dvostruka mjerila, tipa da se, u slučaju varanja, običava reći da je "ona" našla nekoga, a "on" ševi tajnicu. Ipak, odnosi očeva i kćeri mogu biti još kompliciraniji.

Baveći se ovim odnosima Coppola se, ne bez blage ironije, tematski i stilski poziva na "Lost In Translation", toliko da film djeluje kao njegova inverzija, s likovima prevedenima u izgubljenosti. "Na ledu" se može sagledati i kao film kojim redateljica želi raščistiti "daddy issues" i skinuti očevo breme s leđa, kao i breme "Izgubljenih u prijevodu", ključnog naslova iz njezina opusa od čije sjene također ne može pobjeći.

Doza autobiografskog čini "On The Rocks" zanimljivljim u odnosu na niz američkih komično-dramskih nezavisnjaka o očevima i kćerima, a ona je u filmu dvostruka. Jer, glavni ženski lik, s kojim se Coppola nedvojbeno povezuje, tumači još jedna kćerka slavnog roditelja, glazbenika Quincyja Jonesa (iz braka s glumicom Peggy Lipton).

I redateljica i glumica mogu se prepoznati u sceni kad Felixa i Lauru zaustave policajci zbog njegove prebrze vožnje sportskog kabioleta i na kraju ispada da on poznaje oca jednog od murjaka ili ga u to uvjeri, nakon čega ih puste bez kazne. Metafilmski odmak "Na ledu" znatno je podatniji od komičnih "spy scenarios" avantura koje Felixa i Lauru odvode u Meksiko ne bi li otkrili vara li je suprug s mladom i lijepom kolegicom (Jessica Henwick).

U New Yorku se Coppola osjeća kao kod kuće gotovo kao Woody Allen i grad nam vidno nedostaje kad se akteri otisnu u Meksiko, stoga jedva čekamo njihov povratak doma. Melankolija prirodnije pristaje i filmu i Coppoli negoli komedija.

Melankolično i komično

Scena koja bi se danas najviše mogla naći u "Izgubljenima u prijevodu" i odlično sažima melankolično i komično jest ona kad Laura eži na krevetu dok se robotski usisivač vrti ukrug po njezinoj spavaćoj sobi. Bilo bi zanimljivo da je za ovu ulogu angažirana Scarlett Johansson. Murray je, pak, nezamjenjiv i ovo je njegova treća suradnja s Coppolom nakon "Lost In Translation" i "A Very Murray Christmas".

Netom okončani ZFF bio je idealna lansirna rampa za novi nezavisni film Sofije Coppole "On The Rocks" ("Na ledu"). Na tom festivalu zaljubili smo se smo u Coppoličin divan drugijenac "Izgubljeni u prijevodu" i gledali njezin pretposljednji film "Opčinjen". Nažalost, ZFF je ostao uskraćen za hrvatsku premijeru "On The Rocks".

Možda je to jedan od onih "nekoliko naslova" koje "morali smo zamijeniti jer distributeri nisu bili skloni 'online' prikazivanju", kako nam je u intervjuu rekao direktor ZFF-a. A opet, možda i nije. Jer, nakon premijere na New York Film Festivalu i limitirane kinodistribucije po Americi, te pojedinim zemljama Europe i Azije, "Na ledu" je postao dostupan upravo za "online" gledanje na streaming platformi Apple TV+.

Bilo kako bilo, "On The Rocks" ne zaslužuje da prođe ispod radara. Nije to film na razini najboljih Coppoličinih ostvarenja, poput "Lost In Translation" i "Somewhere", ali je na dobrom tragu kao prilično kreativna rekreacija njihovih (i autoričinih) ključnih tema i motiva izloženih unutar humorne drame.

New York iz ovog filma Coppola snima melankolično kao nekoć Tokio i budi osjećaj izgubljenosti u prijevodu novomilenijske usamljenosti. Ponovno imamo odnos dvoje ljudi, verbalnu interakciju starijeg muškarca i mlađe žene. No, kvaka je da su oni ovaj put otac i kći – Felix (Bill Murray) i Laura (Rashida Jones), čime se "Na ledu" nastavlja na "Negdje", kao njegova znatno odraslija, ako ne i "zrelija" verzija.

Ipak, "Izgubljeni u prijevodu" su glavna poveznica, od noćnog života New Yorka i Tokija do spomena karaoke partyja i likova. "Playboy" Felix na momente djeluje da bi mogao biti vremešnija i raskalašenija inačica Boba Harrisa, a spisateljica Laura ima poveznica s osamljenom Charlotte, među ostalim preko prezaposlenog supruga (tamo Giovanni Ribisi, ovamo Marlon Wayans) koji je zapostavlja i ostavlja samu, možda i vara.

Dvosmisleni naslov filma "On The Rocks" može se odnositi i na piće s ledom koje Felix naručuje, ali i, još više, Laurin brak koji je "na ledu", a zbog čega joj se život možda raspada i nema inspiracije za pisanje. Laurina sumnja u suprugovu nevjeru je pokretač radnje, a zapravo samo povod da provede vremena s otuđenim ocem čija se sjena nadvija na njezinim životom i Coppola usput kaže nešto o muško-ženskim/bračnim odnosima pa i odnosu s vlastitim tatom, legendarnim redateljem Francisom Fordom ("Kum", "Prisluškivanje", "Apokalipsa danas").

Muško-ženski odnosi su komplicirani i Coppola preko Laure propituje mogu li muškarci biti monogamni i zadovoljni samo s jednom ženom, dopuštajući i Felixu da natukne dvostruka mjerila, tipa da se, u slučaju varanja, običava reći da je "ona" našla nekoga, a "on" ševi tajnicu. Ipak, odnosi očeva i kćeri mogu biti još kompliciraniji.

Baveći se ovim odnosima Coppola se, ne bez blage ironije, tematski i stilski poziva na "Lost In Translation", toliko da film djeluje kao njegova inverzija, s likovima prevedenima u izgubljenosti. "Na ledu" se može sagledati i kao film kojim redateljica želi raščistiti "daddy issues" i skinuti očevo breme s leđa, kao i breme "Izgubljenih u prijevodu", ključnog naslova iz njezina opusa od čije sjene također ne može pobjeći.

Doza autobiografskog čini "On The Rocks" zanimljivljim u odnosu na niz američkih komično-dramskih nezavisnjaka o očevima i kćerima, a ona je u filmu dvostruka. Jer, glavni ženski lik, s kojim se Coppola nedvojbeno povezuje, tumači još jedna kćerka slavnog roditelja, glazbenika Quincyja Jonesa (iz braka s glumicom Peggy Lipton).

I redateljica i glumica mogu se prepoznati u sceni kad Felixa i Lauru zaustave policajci zbog njegove prebrze vožnje sportskog kabioleta i na kraju ispada da on poznaje oca jednog od murjaka ili ga u to uvjeri, nakon čega ih puste bez kazne. Metafilmski odmak "Na ledu" znatno je podatniji od komičnih "spy scenarios" avantura koje Felixa i Lauru odvode u Meksiko ne bi li otkrili vara li je suprug s mladom i lijepom kolegicom (Jessica Henwick).

U New Yorku se Coppola osjeća kao kod kuće gotovo kao Woody Allen i grad nam vidno nedostaje kad se akteri otisnu u Meksiko, stoga jedva čekamo njihov povratak doma. Melankolija prirodnije pristaje i filmu i Coppoli negoli komedija.

Melankolično i komično

Scena koja bi se danas najviše mogla naći u "Izgubljenima u prijevodu" i odlično sažima melankolično i komično jest ona kad Laura eži na krevetu dok se robotski usisivač vrti ukrug po njezinoj spavaćoj sobi. Bilo bi zanimljivo da je za ovu ulogu angažirana Scarlett Johansson. Murray je, pak, nezamjenjiv i ovo je njegova treća suradnja s Coppolom nakon "Lost In Translation" i "A Very Murray Christmas".
